Smart Saver Vancouver

Craving for something cheap? Then this is the right place for you! INTERNeX has been busy all week searching for good promotions or cheap places to share with you.

Used to getting coffee in the morning? A small speciality coffee is only $1 at the Mc Donald’s at the moment, so it is definitely worth it to switch coffee shops for a while just for this promotion. This promotion started at the 23rd of January and will last till the end of this week, so use this moment to enjoy a 16467040_1625292964152815_2118773967_ncheap coffee for once. Getting used to having coffee at the Mc Donald’s after this promotion? No worries, if you buy 7 coffees, you get the next one for free. You only need to keep the reward card and put the stickers from your cup on it. The reward card is also on your cup! Besides this promotion the Mc Donald’s is also offering digital coupons, which you can download from the site. However, you can also download the Mc Donald’s app for weekly promotions.

Today it is wings Wednesday, so that means you can get wings for a cheap price at restaurants all over Vancouver. The cheapest price that we found is 33 cents per wings in the Famous Warehouse. However, it is also worth checking out when it is not a Wednesday, as all their meals are $5 and therefore a good choice to go to if you want to go out for dinner, but already spent a lot of money.

Not into a coffee or food? At Cinema Public House and The Butcher & Bullock got $2 Tuesdays, when they offer beers for $2. So that means you can get wasted without spending too much money. Almost sounds too good to be true, right?

If you have not found the Dollarama yet, you definitely have to check it out as well. You can almost get everything at Dollarama, from baking forms to food and much more. If you need anything for your housing, first check out Dollarama before going to another place, as it can save you lots of money. Dollarama, your best friend from now on!

Every dollar counts, so keep these tips in mind when spending your money!

INTERNeX Canada: Smart Saver Vancouver

With our Smart Saver we search for the best deals or offers in Vancouver to make you stay in Canada more affordable!

Today we are talking about the Army and Navy Store on Cordova St. This store is one of the oldest in Vancouver and has been there for ages. It is not only a place to buy clothes and furniture, but it’s also worth a visit when you are searching for cheap food and drinks!

What do you think about a whole package of Chocolate Cockies for $1,50? Or a cold drink for $1-2? This place has more to offer than you think. The next time that you are in downtown make a short stop at this awesome place! MAP

Right now they are selling some cheap Canadian flag t-shirts or hoodies.
(under the $10!)

Because of the hot weather the last week, you can go to McDonalds for some cheap soda’s. For only $1 you have a large soda (Cola, Fanta etc.) and a free refill included. This price is not a offer, its always this cheap at McDonald’s Canada. Really worth a visit in my opinion.

The last deal I found is also from McDonald’s. If you have a smartphone you can get %50 off off any size McCafé® Iced Frappé. How?
Visit mccafefraptap.ca on your mobile device. Ask a friend to do the same, and tap your phones together!

Have a great working day,

INTERNeX Canada: Culture Shock

I arrived here (almost) two months ago, and I still confused about tipping. We’ve talked about this “culture shock” in the past, but more about how shocking is for us. So this post is for all that people who still feel fear when the person behind the counter is smiling while you take your wallet.

– As you know, tips (or gratuity) are not included in the bill.

– You have to tip between the 10% and 20% of the bill (without taxes). Normally is 15%.

– If you still have problems to calculate the exactly amount, remember: (the bill x 15/100). I know that a lot of people are going to say, “Oh, come on, everybody knows that”. But,  not. Believe me.

– If you pay with credit card, you have to put how much do you want to tip, or the employee will do it by himself.

– In restaurants and bars, if you are a big group (usually 8 people or more) the tip is included in the bill.

– In a pub or restaurant, there used to be a waiter or waitress (most of the times) in charge of your table. You always have to order to the same waitress.

– Sometimes, the waitress can give you the bill each time that you order. This is maybe because she’s afraid that you leave without pay (specially in a big group). And yes, you have to tip every time.

Why do you have to tip? The salary of waiters is a little lower than the rest, so they always apply for the job with the tips in mind.

Where we have to tip? Restaurants and pubs, taxis, hairdressers, beauticians.

Where we don’t have to tip? Restaurants like McDonalds or Tim Hortons.

What happens if I decide to don’t tip? Watch your food and better don’t come back.

Cheers,

Clara.

INTERNeX Canada: Smart Save Vancouver

Ok, all the people know, Vancouver is an expensive city. But with our “Smart Saver” guide, you can take notes about our little tips to keep your budget safe.

Today, 1$ cold drinks! Sorry for the Game of Thrones fans but summer is coming. Time to sunbathing; lie down in the Stanley Park lawn, take a walk in Downtown… But maybe you need something very refreshing to enjoy more the sun.

Beat the heat! There is nothing better for the hot that a really cold drink to take away. And there isn’t any place in the world easier to find like a McDonald’s. In spite of the large number of times that the American company has been object/subject of controversy, it is still one of the most frequented places to save money.

Check out the following offers for cold drinks!

  • 1$ Small or medium caramel or vanilla iced coffee (really, who is going to order a small coffee instead of one medium for the same price?)
  • 1$ Small iced frappe (coffee, vanilla o iced tea)
  • 1$ Soft drinks

And if there is a competitor in cold drinks, this is Tim Hortons (sorry Starbucks, you are cute but expensive). The Canadian company has cheap options of these days too:

  •  1$ Iced Coffee or Coffee Latte
  • 1$ cold Frozen Lemon or Raspberry Lemonade

Summer’s short, so get out and enjoy!

Cheers,

Clara.

INTERNeX Canada: How was your weekend?

Last Saturday afternoon, we visited the Vancouver Aquarium!! It was really fun going around and looking at all the exotic underwater creatures! I felt so excited and nervous as we walked in, even though I had been there many times! And because there were so many things to see, I didn’t know where to begin! We decided that it was best to look around outside first since it could start to rain later during the day. As we went outside, we saw an otter swimming around. I think the otter was everyone’s favorite part of the day! Then we went to watch the beluga whale show and of course after we went to see the small penguins. And of course, we went to watch the special presentation on Sharks and Rays, which was really cool! We learned a lot about the history of sharks!

My least favorite part of the day was probably during lunch time, because we had to sit outside as we almost froze to death. Okay, I’m just exaggerating, it wasn’t THAT bad. But I really wish they had an indoor cafeteria or something. The last thing we did at the Aquarium was going into a theater to watch a 4D show on the salmon run! It was really cool because of the special effects and little surprises during the movie! If you haven’t been, I really think you should go check it out.

group photo in 3D glasses!!

And to end the day, we all went to McDonalds for the free coffee! It was hilarious because there were so many of us and we all asked for the free coffee. Too bad the deal is now over!! Overall, it was such an awesome day at the Vancouver Aquarium, and the Sharks and Rays exhibition is still open till April so go now if you weren’t able to join us last weekend!

If you missed out on some our events last month, don’t fret because March is full of fun events! Join us for a movie/games/potluck night this Saturday and sign up for our Rocky Mountain getaway trip!

Cheers,

Flora
