Smart Saver Vancouver

It’s time for another great Smart Saver here in Vancouver and we found to cheap and popular restaurants where you should go.

If you love Greek food the Greek restaurant Stephos is a cheap and popular place to eat all the yummy greek food which there offer. Stephos is located 1124 Davie Street and the dishes are between $10 – 15, also the portions are huge! For example for a roast lamb with potatoes, greek salad and pita bread you pay $9.95. Also they are really quick with the order and the delivery of the food. Have a look and try all the yummy food there.

If you are more into pasta or want to try both restaurants we found the Basil Pasta Bar for you guys. You can create your own pasta for only $7.95. Just choose which pasta you want and than you have the hard decision which “toppings” you want for your pasta. It’s covers everything from meat to fish. The Basil Pasta Bar is located on 636 Davie Street.

International Dinner

The fondest memories are made gathered around the table, so join us for our international dinner on April 5th.

Since we landed in Vancouver, we had a lot of burgers, sushi and fries. So it is time to step back from all the burgers and fries and eat some home-made traditional meals. Every country or culture has some food which is very typical or traditional for them, so go in to the kitchen and make that delicious meal for your international friends and they will make some delicious food for your.
The dinner will take place on the 5th of April at 7pm in the INTERNeX office, which is located on 88 West Pender street in the International Mall. We do have a small microwave to heat up your food. We do not expect you to cook a huge meal, just something small and traditional, however if you like to cook or bake a whole meal, we do not mind! If you could bring 1$ that night, we can provide you with plates, cutlery and cups. Since we are located in a mall we are NOT allowed to have alcoholic drinks during the dinner, so please do not bring any alcohol to the office. After the dinner we can go for an after-dinner-drink to the Bismarck, which is just a minute walk from the office.

We hope to see you on Saturday April 5th for a nice dinner at the office

Want to engage in local activities and get a free meal?

The Irish Heather Restaurant offers free dinner and a beer in exchange for pitting cherries in the restaurant. It’s called “Pit for Your Supper” and is part of the Long Table Series taking place at the Irish Heather. It was originally created as an alternative dining experience during recession and, being a unique  experience, has lasted until today. You can get the LTS communal dinner Sunday through Wednesday for $18 but it’s free Wednesdays for a couple of hours of your help.

The activity takes place every Wednesday starting at 7pm. About 50 people sit around a long 40-foot communal table in the restaurant, pit cherries for two hours, and receive a free meal afterwards. It’s like a dinner with 50 new and old friends but nobody needs to clean up after the meal! Next Wednesday the Irish Heather will serve Spiced Pork Loin with Potato Salad & Fresh Cut Slaw; a vegetarian version of the meal is also available.

The fruits to be processed are from a farm in Naramata, BC. Later in the season the cherries will be replaced by other fruits like apricots, peaches, apples and pears. Participants will see the fruits in the restaurant’s dishes and drinks later!

The offer will last until the fall, for reservations please e-mail reso@irishheather.com.

Cheers,

Xenia

Lasertag and Karaoke Re-cap!

How did you spend your Labour Day? 12 INTERNeX candidates met up and had an amazing day playing Lasertag and singing their lungs out at Karaoke! Thanks everyone for coming out yesterday to our Lasertag and Karaoke night!

We arrived at Laserdome at 4.30 and we were able to start our Lasertag game. In total we played 3 games and had a lot of fun. Before each game we were divided into different groups and we were sent out to ‘kill’ as many people as possible.  Each of us had a vest on and a gun in our hands. The vest had several targets on them. They would light up a color (your team color) and you would have to shoot everyone that did not have the same color as you. There were some people (Adam!) that were really into it and they were even rolling around on the floor trying to shoot people. If you were shot than you were ‘dead’ for a few seconds and then you are back in the game again.  If you shot someone the gun would say:’ Good shot’ and you would earn 150 points for your team. If you got shot you would lose 75 points. You also had an individual score to see who was got the highest score of the group. For our group that was newcomer Youp! He just arrived in Vancouver and came out with us to meet new people.

After lasertag everyone was pretty hungry so we made our way back to Downtown and got a nice meal at Malone’s on West Pender Street. Most of us at a burger and fries, something I would totally recommend you to do!

After dinner it was time for Karaoke. We went to Fantacity, a Korean/Japanese style karaoke. This meant that we had our own room with a giant TV and two microphones. Everyone sung at least 2 songs and had a lot of fun doing it! We had songs ranging from Fame to the Real Slim Shady and some good, and some bad singers. Want to hear some of the songs we sang? Check Nathalie’s Facebook page for the video’s she posted online. On the INTERNeX Facebook site and our Flick Page you can view the pictures from the entire night!

Tomorrow is PuBNiGHT, a night that is also filled with music. But this time you don’t have to sing yourself. So meet us at the Blarney Stone at 8.30 pm for some games, laughs and beers!
