What to Do in Vancouver – the perfect fall day

It’s already the first week of october which means the trees are now shining in beautiful autumn colours and the leaves are turning red, yellow and orange – wonderful !
What could be better than enjoying a cozy autumn day with some typical fall acitivites.
So for now let me give you some inspirations for fun fall activities to try:)

1. Maybe you’ve checked our previous instagram story. It was all about the pumpkin patches which opened this week. These places are highly recommended for taking amazing pictures and enjoying your day ( maybe with new friends you met at the INTERNeX pubnight 😉 )
Great pumpkin patches are located in Vancouver, Richmond, Surrey or Langley.

2. Visit a Farmer’s Market
Just strolling around, tasting nice food or drinks and maybe you’ll find the perfect pumpkin for your pumpkin pie or as i like to do, to decorate your apartement. Sounds like a plan.
There’s this fall market right in Vancouver Downtown starting on November 6th.

3. Go for a long walk
Since going for a walk is one of the easiest things to include in a stressful work day you can just take your time to relax a bit. This also has a great affect on your health and may give you new ideas about what you wanna do on the next autumn day.
Additionally, it’s a great experience to take a hike, grab your running shoes or even take a bike ride through Stanley Park. But better do not forget your rain clothes.

4. Autumn and Halloween festivals
What’s fall without Halloween and thinking of where to go and what to wear as the perfect costume already a few weeks in advance 😉 ?
There are many (maybe this year less than usually, but still some) festivals taking place in Vancouver.
In addition, FlyOver Canada has some Halloween theme days till the end of October which are definitely worth a visit.
But don’t forget to bring your vaccination document as well as wearing a face mask all the time. Unfortunately, covid still exists but that doesn’t have to keep us from doing fun activities especially the outdoor ones.

…there are many more fun acitivites but for now i would love to share my perfect fall day with you.
Imagine you’re having a day off to do all the cozy fall things you always wanted to do.
Start your day with pumpkin pancakes and a loong brunch. Definitely a good start in a great day.
After that just grab your jacket and go for a walk in Stanley Park or at the beach. Maybe you can spot some animals or find beautiful leaves and chestnuts for your apartement decoration.
Decorate your place will definitely put you in fall mood 😉
After a long walk you might get a bit cold so it’s the perfect time for a warm coffee or hot chocolate in one of the many cute cafés in Gastown. Take a closer look at the menu… many cafes are offering fall specials such as pumpkin spice latte.
Back home it’s definitely time for changing into comfortable clothes. It’s movie time.
For this season a nice scary horror movie would fit best…but not for me i prefer a love story :D. So if you’re not such a “scared rabbit” (as we say in Germany) enjoy the movie!! A cozy evening at home 🙂

Candidate Exposé – Roslyn Campbell

Hello from Scotland 🙂 Let’s say hey to our previous candidate Roslyn from Stirling in Scotland.
She is 26 years old and currently working as an administrator for a charity.

When being in Canada for holidays in 2013 she absolutely felt in love with this beautiful country – so she decided to go back as soon as possible. Since she wanted to have some time for looking for a job and exploring the world after graduating, her practicum in Vancouver was the best opportunity for her.
She stayed around 6 months (or as she said, the best time of her life 😉 ).

During this time she volunteered at an environmental charity where she primarily worked as an eco friendly social media intern with tasks like promotion and trying to get more people involved in an eco friendly living. She really enjoyed her time being in a small team of only 5 people who were really friendly, understanding and able to teach her so many new insights which have been very useful for her current work position. The best thing about this time for the future was definitely that through this job, her work experience and the beneficial feedback she got hired in her current job 🙂 Additionally, through the companies’ great trust in her she became more independent and started to get experience working in an office environment for the first time. She also improved her social media skills which are certainly important to have in these times.

Since she had a work permit she also had the chance to earn some money as well as intercultural experiences while working in a restaurant.

I asked her what the first impression was after arriving in Vancouver. She just said it was overwhelming but since she has family there it was much easier to find her way in this new environment. However, from the first moment she was certain that she made the right decision choosing this place for her international experience. For her the definitely best memory was the weekend getaway to Salt Spring Island staying in a small chalet in the middle of nowhere with new friends from all over the world. Sounds like a really fun time.

She also enjoyed Vancouver’s nightlife including the INTERNeX pubnights as well as a trip to Seattle, Whistler and the many days spent in Stanley Park. She already recommended INTERNeX to one of her friends who already stayed in Canada with us. For her the support was really beneficial to make friends, have more fun and experience new places better than alone. To conclude this report on her experience, Roslyn described her stay as wonderful, insightful, beautiful and in a good way completely overwhelming.

What to Do in Vancouver?

Welcome to Part 2 of the “What to Do in Vancouver” edition…
There is so much more to Do in and around Vancouver. Let’s continue with further amazing attractions.

Granville Island: take the Aquabus to Granville Island, a large market where you can enjoy good food and drinks as well as arts, culture and shopping. There is a huge public market open every day 9am-6pm. It’s kind of a hotspot for tourism and entertainment. Have a look what we did here on our March 9, 2020 blogpost. But that’s not the only market worth a visit. There’s the Richmond night market with a lot of Asian food. You can try many types of food you may not have experienced before. Some are really exotic but it’s definitely a great experience to taste something new.

Museum of Anthropology at UBC: Attention all culture lovers and those interested in history. Plan your trip to this museum to find out more about the First Nations people as well as other cultural communities in British Columbia. There are several exhibitions that invite you to explore new cultures.

English Bay and Sunset Beach: beautiful beaches to relax with friends or have some action while stand up paddling or taking a refreshing dip in the sea. There are also nice restaurants like the Cactus Club Cafe.
As the name already mentioned it is an awesome place to watch the sunset.

Directly next to English Bay is Stanley Park, Vancouver’s largest park in the middle of the city. This place invites you to relax and cycle or skate the seawall. Enjoy an amazing view of Lions Gate bridge, the mountains, and the sea. Additionally, it’s a good opportunity to find out more about local wildlife, plants and visit the Vancouver Aquarium with over 50,000 marine animals. Sometimes there’s an open-air cinema as well which is really fun.

Queen Elizabeth Park: Just a few minutes by bus from downtown is Queen Elizabeth Park which is almost full of activity. It’s located a bit higher so you can also enjoy a quiet minute while having a nice view over the city. On your way to this park, I can definitely recommend to stop at La Casa Gelato. They offer more than 200 ice cream flavours and of course some are unusual, but I would give it a try. To make this hard decision ( 😉 ) easier, you can try a spoon of any flavour you like (of course, except in this pandemic).

China Town: Explore the vibrant culture, taste the exotic food or visit classic Asian speciality stores in Vancouver’s traditional China Town. When you enter this part of the city through the magnificent gate, you will feel like you are in another world.

PuB NiGHT Review

Hey Guys,

Yesterday there was again an awesome INTERNeX PuB NiGHT at the “Bridges” on Granville Island.

The Bridges is a really nice Pub, it is located next to the Public Market and Granville Bridge which offered us a magnificent view of Vancouver’s waterfront and downtown!
The atmosphere was great and as always there were new INTERNeX people that have joined us. WELCOME!!

After we had paid, we went all together to the next Bus station and on the way to there we have seen sea lions eating fish on the Harbour Bridge!!! It was really amazing!!
I am sure that everyone enjoyed the INTERNeX PuB NiGHT and I am looking forward to see you on the next PuB NiGHT next Wednesday!!!

Review of the PubNight

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday we had again an awesome PuB NiGHT and this time we were at “The Cambie Pub”!

The Cambie Pub was full of international young  people and the atmosphere was really great. We met new people, played some Pinball and talked the whole Night about the experience that we had made in Canada.
We even had a couple of new candidates who showed up to make new friends and get to know the INTERNeX PR-clique, WELCOME  🙂
