Fun Fact Friday

Are you ready for another round of Fun Fact Friday? Great! Because it’s time to learn something new about the city.

1. Vancouver is rated among the best cities for coffee lovers.

Good news for the coffee lovers out there: Diverse bloggers rated Vancouver to be one of the best cities for coffee drinkers. This means, Vancouver has a lot more to offer than just Starbucks, Tim Hortons and Blenz Coffee. Yes, there’s more. So go ahead, take advantage of one of the best cities for coffee lovers and try something different. (And if you still want to go to the coffee shops you’re used to, read our Smart Saver from Wednesday).

2. Vancouver, NYC and London are comparable in Housing prices.

You might have figured out that living here is not really the cheapest, but did you know that real estate in Vancouver has the highest price among all Canadian cities? And there’s more to that: Rents and lettings are comparable to a living in NYC or London – and living there is quite posh, right? Very expensive as well. But I think we shouldn’t complain about that… I guess that’s just the price we pay for the amazing things Vancouver has to offer.

3. Our mayor is good looking, but cheeky as well.

I read a blogpost that stated Vancouver has the most handsome mayor.. well, he’s definitely not my age, but I don’t blame those saying he’s looking good. But there’s more to the story than just a handsome guy.

Well, I checked this morning, the letters are still up. But nice try Mr. Robertson!

Did you hear about the Trump Tower & Hotel here in Downtown? So, in December 2015 the handsome Gregor Robertson wrote a letter to the manager of the hotel, kindly asking them to remove the letters “TRUMP” from the building. He claimed, “Trump’s name and brand have no more place on Vancouver’s skyline than his ignorant ideas have in the modern world.” Great man, this Robertson! He backed up his letter with a petition signed by more than 50,000 residents and even Christy Clark the premier of B.C. said that “Donald Trump doesn’t represent our city.” That’s a statement, I’d say.

Use this wisdom to impress your friends or your date or just a random stranger on the street. – But just if you started a conversation already… don’t just shoot it at him out of nowhere. Might be a little awkward, you know.

See you guys soon – latest at PuB NiGHT in Mahony & Sons on Wednesday!

Pub Night Review: Blarney Stone

Team wet pigs and team so good were ready to start the Trivia. While the waitress was serving us some food and drinks, we were thinking about the answers of all the questions appearing on the screen.

After every round was a bonus question where you could win a pitcher of beer. Unfortunately, we were not smart enough to win a pitcher of beer. We got the score back at the end of the game and we were not that bad. But some other people were a little smarter than us, so no prize for us. After the Blarney Stone with went (of course) to the Metropole to sing our songs. It was not that busy this time, so we could sing many songs.

Blarney Stone is a really fun pub in the weekend if you like Irish music. Every weekend there is a live band playing and people dancing all around. During the week they have nice events organized and you can often find a organized party here as well.

It was a lot of fun playing trivia with you guys. I hope everybody is rested enough for the ice-skating tomorrow. Let’s get hurt ourselves on the ice! Or not if you are familiar with ice. However, I hope to see you at Robson tomorrow!

PuB NiGHT Review – The Charles Bar

The Charles bar. A nice bar on the border of Gastown. Peaceful and quit. Until INTERNeX is having a PuB NiGHT there. Thanks to everyone who was there during this special edition of PuB NiGHT. We had a lot fun.

This PuB NiGHT everybody showed up in Ugly Christmas Sweaters. Not because they like Christmas Sweaters so much, but because we had an Ugly Christmas Sweater contest going on. Maxine was very creative by creating her own Ugly Christmas Sweater. And believe me, it was ugly. Others bought one of those typical ugly sweaters your great grandma will make you for your birthday. And Dawid, who won the competition, had a Santa sweater including beard and hat. 25400884_1560343360720996_182747180_o

Because not enough people saw all our nice ugly Christmas sweaters, we went again to the Met to show off our sweaters. We were not the only ones dressed that ugly. In fact, the whole pub was packed with a lot of people wearing ugly Christmas sweaters. After all our songs it was time to head home.

If you want to show even more people your ugly Christmas sweater, come to the Christmas party dressed up. Or when you already threw it away, wear your nicest Christmas clothes instead. Whatever you are going to wear, I hope to see you this Saturday for our Christmas party!

PuB NiGHT Review: Malone’s

2017-11-22 20.56.54

There we are, in the back of Malone’s, sitting at a long table with everybody. And even more people kept coming. Great to see so many people are showing up at the pub nights. After all the hungry people ate their burgers and pizza, we enjoyed the nice cocktails or one of the many special beers. Of course we ended up in the Metropole for some karaoke.

Malone’s is a big pub, but somehow always has a cozy feeling. With 38 different taps there is a beer for everyone. For the people who don’t like craft beers, Malone’s offers also a lot of cocktails. Everyday they have a special on the beer/cocktail of the day.

Hope you all had as fun as much I did and hope to see you all Saturday morning for our trip to Seattle!

PuB NiGHT Review: 131 Water

Everybody who joined PuB NiGHT yesterday, thank you very much! We had a lot of fun.

22119535_1486993444722655_422819170_o

The 131 Water pub is famous for their games and cheap drinks. And we made use of that! People were playing ‘Who am I?’ and ‘Cards against Humanity’. During the games we enjoyed the happy hour deals from 9 pm till 12 am. The pub is located in a very nice location in Gastown, close to the Metropole and because of that we sang some songs afterwards in this karaoke bar. We closed the night with some food and went home.

Now it’s time to mentally prepare ourselves and our livers for the pub-crawl this Saturday. See you!

Review: PuB NiGHT at Warehouse

Thank you all for joining our PuB NiGHT at The Warehouse yesterday. We had a great time.

21268281_1463187140436619_2099266103_o

We went to The Warehouse to eat some delicious meal. Not only because they have great food, but it is also very cheap to eat there. After we finished our meals, the first people were arriving at the pub. We moved to the back where we had our reserved area. Because so many people showed up, it became cosy.

After a couple hours and a few drinks later, most of the people were ready to continue the party at the Met. A few songs later most of the people decided to go home after a great night. See you all next PuB NiGHT and hope to see you Monday as well at 21268287_1463187083769958_1416448118_oMusic in the Park.

P.S. Sorry, I didn’t mentioned Alan in the last blog post ‘How was your weekend?’. I am truly sorry, hope it is all good now 😉

PuB NiGHT Review

Last night we went to the Toonie-Tuesday at the Metropole, which is in the heart of Gastown. There are original mosaic tile floors, stained glass and exposed bricks – it’s charming! Furthermore you have the possibility to watch baseball and other sports on the TV screen. And also their have a pool table and tabletop soccer. These pup nights are an excellent opportunity to meet all the new people and catch up with the old ones. So, don’t be shy! If you didn’t come, you have to join us the next time.

The Metropole is on a Tuesday a very popular place, because of the cheap drinks. The beer was $2 and the highballs were $3, wasn’t it good? After 10pm the Pub was quite full and also we started to dance on the dance floor. We hope you all enjoined the PuB NiGHT as we did and we will see you next Wednesday again.

For those people who haven’t enough from hanging out with us, you can join us this Friday for a Granville Island Tour at 6:45pm. We will start first with a tasty cheesecake at the Cheescake ETC.

We hope we will see you guys soon at our next event.
