Smart Saver Vancouver

Today we are going to talk about money, or rather, how to save it. I always like to go shopping here since there are so many stores I don’t have at home. Since it is already mid-June the sales start in fashionland and therefore it is the best time to renew your summer wardrobe.

One of my favourites here is Victoria Secret, especially because this store is so huge and has a lot of options. The best time to go there is now, as soon as you can, since their semi-annual sale already started. Sometimes I am really disappointed by sales because they only take off 20%. It doesn’t really make me jump. Victoria Secret really goes the next level with sales of 50% and up. Besides that they also throw in daily specials on top of that, like bralettes for 5 dollars each. If you want to be up to date with their sales and deals, the best thing to do is sign up for their e-mails. Throughout the year they also have great deals, like a free tote with your purchase over 50 CAD. The semi-annual sale can be hectic though, since they put everything in boxes and women almost fight over pieces. If you don’t want to be part of this jungle, you can also easily shop online, where the semi-annual sale is featured too.

A second store with a semi-annual sale men can also provide from; Bath & Body Works. This store has, in my opinion, some of the best body care, hand soaps and fragrances there is. An unfortunate fact is that you can’t really buy this brand in Europe, except for Italy, Poland, Russia and Turkey.  These places are not around the corner for me, so I will buy in big and the best time to do that is now. Bath & Body Works also has his semi-annual sale now with deals up to 75% off. Besides that they always have good combo-deals throughout the year, like buy 3 products and get 2 products for free.

urbanown

Last but not least: Urban Outfitters. This store has many brands featured besides their own clothing line so there is something for everybody. At the moment they also have a sale going on up to 50% for now, but this changes continuously so keep your eyes open. Besides that the store on Granville Street always has a sale corner where you can find some cheap treasures.

These are just a small grip off all the store sales that are going on at the moment, so if you want your wardrobe updated, get on Granville or Robson Street or go to Metrotown to shop the latest sale items and save some money!

I hope to see you all tonight at the Lamplighter, playing bourbon bingo like fanatics and celebrate Janels last days in Vancouver.

What to do on the weekend?

It’s Friday, which means we are going to give you some inspiration for what you can do this weekend to make the most of it!15136376048_b8fee42104_o

The INTERNeX gang is going to the beautiful Queen Elizabeth Park on Sunday to do some sightseeing. It’s the highest point in Vancouver and therefore it gives you a beautiful view over the park, city and the mountains on the North Shore. If you want to join us, check out the event page for the meeting spot and time!

On Saturday the annual TEDxStanleyPark will be held at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre from 10:00 am till 6:00 pm. It is one of the largest TED conferences in the world and centres around finding optimistic solutions for humanity’s tough challenges. This year’s theme is about “inspiring brave actions.” If you like motivational speeches and gaining new insights this is definitely an event you should consider visiting.

On Saturday you also have the opportunity to visit Winter Farmers Markets. The Nat Bailey Winter Farmers market is located at the Nat Bailey Stadium on Ontario Street and the Royal City Winter Farmers Market is located in Tipperary Park in New Westminster.

img_1231It’s a pretty good weekend if you’re into arts. Coastal First Nations Dance Festival is celebrating their 10th anniversary. You can visit the festival the entire weekend at the UBC Museum of Anthropology and the tickets for the Festival Stage Performances include museum admission, so that’s a nice bonus. Another option is Festival du Bois, held at the Parc Mackin in Coquitlam. This festival celebrates Francophone and French Canadian culture with music, dance, traditional food, entertaining activities and much more. Lastly, there is the Chutzpah! Festival from February 16th to March 13th at the Norman Rothstein Theatre and other venues in and around Vancouver. The festival is put on by the Jewish Community and shows music, dance, comedy and theatre.

If you rather do something a bit more relaxed and indoors, you can always go and check out Metropolis at Metrotown. It’s the largest shopping centre of British Colombia and the third largest of Canada. There are 450 shops and services, so everybody should be able to find something there!

Have a good weekend and I hope to see you all on Sunday at the Queen Elizabeth Park!

How was your weekend?

Hi guys.

I hope everybody had a great weekend! I am sure the hardcore Caucks fans had a blast and already got their game face on for today’s game – go Canucks go!

My weekend started out with a get together with the whole INTERNeX staff. We all watch the game and since it was Elvera’s last day as an intern she continued at the “Blarney Stone” (I hope you had a wonderful last night out!) I went to Granville Street with a few other people and joined the celebration. I gave out a lot of high fives and took some videos of the madness, because frankly I have never really seen anybody celebrate a victory like this. I cannot even imagine how it will look like if they win. How did you celebrate the victory of the mighty Canucks?

On Saturday I spend most of the day on the beaches in Kitsilano and the huge outdoor pool (it is 137,5 meter long!!). On the right side you have all the mountains followed by Stanley Park and Down Town, and when the sun is up it kinda feels like being on a holiday in a much more exotic country. The rest of the day I just relaxed and enjoyed the nice weather together with my room mates.

On Sunday I went down to the “Metrotown Mall” in Burnaby. The mall has 470 shops including a large cinema, so I took the opportunity to watch “Super8” – a movie directed by J.J.Abrams and Steven Spielberg. The movie is about a group of friends who witness a mysterious train crash in the summer of 1979. The group start noticing strange happening going around in their small town, and begin to investigate into the creepy phenomenon. It is very long time ago I have been so caught up into a movie, so I can definitely recommend it – and I am sure there is something for everybody in it 🙂

That was it for me now, how was your weekend? Did you enjoy some of that gorgeous weather? Or did you take off into the wilderness? Let us know by leaving a comment 😀

Cheers, Mads
