Have you wondered how awesome would a trip to the Rockies be? Would you want to visit a beautiful city called Banff? Are you thinking what would be the best way to make it happen? Well I got some good news for you; INTERNeX is going to The Rocky Mountains in April and only thing you have to do is to make sure you sign up on time! Now I will take some time to tell you more about our Rockies trip.
We will see a lot of stunning views and visit some famous lakes. Here are some of the places that I’ve heard are included (depending on the weather ofc); Lake Louise, Moraine Lake, Two Jack Lake, Jasper and Columbia Icefields. If you want you can take the Lake Louise Gondola to explore some amazing views. I think we will have a chance to try out the hot springs, which are actually not open after April. We will also get to see the Mount Robson which is the highest mountain of the Canadian Rocky Mountains.
We will spend one night at a hotel in a beautiful mountain town called Banff. There we will have an option to go explore the city and sit down for some drinks. Good news for the 18-year-olds; we are in Alberta and you are allowed to have some drinks too if you feel like it! One of the nights is spent at Mountain View Cabins where we will sit down around a campfire and enjoy some hot chocolate and marshmallows.

just walk around the picturesque village. Aboard the coach again, we played some games, listened to music and started to get to know each other better. We had lunch in Kamloops and made a short stop at the Spahats Falls. And so, after a 9-hour drive in the bus, we finally arrived at our first night’s stay in Valemount. The evening activity there: Hockey in the Rockies. Teamed up and ready to win, both the “Pride Dragons” and “Tigers” chased the ball to score some goals.
Afterwards, we all had the chance to take beautiful pictures with this giant mountain in the background. We boarded the bus again and drove to our next stop: The Athabasca Falls. Even though we had to leave quite soon after we arrived, everyone had the chance to take a stunning picture of and/or with the falls.
The bravest among us got ready to be cooler than they’ve ever been before. Of course, you’ve always been cool, guys – but I think you know what I mean. So, to visualize it: 20 crazy INTERNeX-people running into ice-cold water, screaming at the top of their lungs and cheering with the kicking-in of adrenalin. FUN! Great job to those who did it! I really enjoyed it and can only recommend doing it.
We all met at the bus at 7am to mark the start of our adventure. It was early, but luckily the long bus ride made sure we could all catch up on some sleep. Our first stop was Hope, where we could admire wooden sculptures of bears and a beautiful rainbow. Next stop: Kamloops. Lunchtime! Back on the bus, we played the ‘Moose or Beaver’ game, where everyone had to choose whether the loony (another word for a Canadian dollar) that Erin, our fantastic tour guide, flipped would land on the loon bird or the queen. Everyone looked hilarious, but we were all in this together. Right before we arrived at the hotel in Valemount, we went to visit Rearguard Falls Provincial Park. The entire park was covered in snow, which was breathtaking. Then we checked into the hotel, had dinner at a nearby restaurant and to end this busy day of traveling, we had a little party in our room.
On the first day of our big trip we are going to start our adventure at Waterfront at 7 AM. It is only a short drive to our first stop, Hope. This is where the original Rambo First Blood movie was filmed. Along the way you can enjoy the beautiful views while we are driving over the Coquihalla Highway to Kamloops. In Kamloops we will have a stop to get lunch. After filling our stomachs we will continue our way to Valemount. We will have one more stop at the Spahats Falls where we will have some time to make pictures. Once we arrive in Valemount and are checked into the hotel, we will head out to a Canadian ranch for a real Cowboy experience. There we will watch a Cowboy show and eat dinner (included). After the Cowboy show we will go back to the hotel. Here you can play hockey and afterwards warm up at the campfire.
Soo, after a great time around Lake Louise we continued to our next destination, the Banff gondola. The gondola led us to the top of the mountains where it was possible to walk around on pathways and enjoy spectacular views of the Banff mountains. Since we didn’t have too much time at the top of the mountains, some of us had a bit of exercise running up and down stairs leading from one end of the pathway to the other. When arriving back down in the valley some took the opportunity to have look a the tourist shop. We also had a lot of fun watching some of the pictures taken when entering the gondola at the top of the mountain. It was possible to buy the pictures at the tourist shop but perhaps it was a bit expensive.
local places to eat. Later during the evening some went out to dance the night away at a club, while others preferred to have a chat at some of the many great pubs that Banff has to offer.
visited Johnston’s Canyon, Bow Lake and Peyto Lake and we travelled the icefields parkway. The top attraction of the day was the Columbia icefield where we travelled with a so called SnoCoach up the glacier. A SnoCoach is a special bus specifically build for the purpose of travel up and down the glacier. As we reach the top of the glacier most of us tried to drink the ice-cold and refreshing glacial water. Water never tasted this good… very delicious!
