What to do on the weekend

Hi people!

With another weekend ahead, it is time for the famous „what to do on the weekend“ blog post!

It is suitable for all of our candidates: those, who are about to leave soon, those who are in the peak time of their stay and of course our newly arrived candidates who need some tips!

Here we go!

~~~ WHISTLER – Kokanee Crankworx Freeride Mountain Bike Festival~~~
Once you are in Vancouver, you HAVE to take a weekend off and explore famous Whistler, which is just 90min located North of Vancouver. No matter when you go – may it be Summer or Winter – there is always something to do! In Summer you can go hiking, rafting, even skiing and (what a perfect transition!) mountain biking!
During Whistler BC’s nine-day Kokanee Crankworx festival, the dirt-adorned put the revel in the free ride mountain biking revolution, bending physics and blowing minds with their tail-whipping back-flipping hard-charging ways. For the eighth year running, the venues of the Whistler Mountain Bike Park serve as modern day Colosseum, masterpieces of stunt and trail engineering, forum for the ultimate in gladiator contests and public spectacle.
In less than a decade, Kokanee Crankworx has become the authoritative free ride festival, a supercharged magnet for the world’s best riders, the definitive domestication of dirt in the service of epic endurance, supreme flow, monster air and gravity-fuelled mountain biking. The best mountain bike athletes in the world know that when gravity beckons, you simply say, yes mistress. I’m coming. So make sure you do.
~~~VANCOUVER – Chinatown Night Market ~~~

A beautiful night market, filled with traditional art crafts, ethnic food and fashionable gifts. You can find booths with all kinds of different merchandises on sale including creative gifts and decor, modern electronics, popular music CD’s, VCD’s, DVD’s, fashionable clothes and delicious snacks.

So, just in case you are bored on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday night…head down to Chinatown and visit the night market between 6.30pm-11.00pm @Keefer/Main Street.

~~~ TORONTO – Scotiabank Caribbean Carnival ~~~
The three-week (July 12 -August 1)Scotiabank Caribbean Carnival Toronto is an explosion of Caribbean music, cuisine, revelry as well as visual and performing arts. Within 44 years it has become a major international event and the largest cultural festival of its kind in North America. The great metropolis of Toronto will come alive as the city dives into pulsating rhythms and melodies of Soca, Reggae, Chutney, Hip Hop, Calypso, Steel Pan and Brass Bands. This extraordinary colourful exhibition will surely bring a smile to everybody’s face!
I hope our tips for this weekend will keep you busy!
Have a good one! 🙂
What to do on the weekend?
Hey all,
The weekend is coming up soon and we have some cool events in Vancouver, Whistler and Toronto you have to check out!
Vancouver
This Friday Critical Mass in Vancouver
Critical Mass is a grassroots reclamation of public space — a bike ride and skate — held the last Friday of every month. You are invited to enjoy the safety and comfort in the car-free space that will be created by simply riding together! Bicycles, skateboards, rollerskates, self propelled couches, and any other form of human powered locomotion are all welcomed! They ride around the city wherever people want to go – this is decided collectively – the length of the ride depends on enthusiasm and is also collectively decided. No one who comes is forced to or needs to break the law in order to participate.  Meet 5 to 5:30 at the Vancouver Art Gallery, leave at 6pm; Critical Mass in Vancouver.
12th Annual PMC-Sierra Science Fair Fun Run
Largest timed 5K race in BC, one of technology industry’s biggest fundraising events. All proceeds to The Dr. Michael Smith Science Fair Endowment to support the promotion and development of Science Fair programs throughout the province. This event will take place on Sunday.
