The Rockies – review (part 2 of 2)

Day 3

Wow, what a pub night in Banff! If you are in Banff or planning to go there, it’s definitely a big recommendation!!

This day we had a day of free time. We’d spend the day exactly how we wanted to spend it. Some of us took a sleep-in during the morning and stayed in the hostel, such a cozy idea, and some of us went to Lake Moraine around 9 am in the morning to explore that lake and it’s mystic water 🙂
Rest of the day was a free day were we could go hiking, biking, running and also do shopping in Banff or in Hot Springs as many of us did, how awesome isn’t that?

Day 4

Rise and shine folks – 6am in the morning we were going home to Vancouver with a few stops on along the way. This morning we went to catch the sunrise over Lake Louise beautiful mountain peaks. Goosh, I love mornings!! Such a peaceful moment, but I gotta be honest with you, it was crowded but we found our secrets spots of the lake and of the mountains, You’ll see the results here;

The the bus tour continued and that moment when you think you’re going straight home to Vancouver, a little surprise pops up; WE ARE GOING KAYAKING – at Natural Escape Kayaking in Revelstoke. Such an amazing experience, I know that I am more of a mountain girl but kayaking was a blast. It was a bit challenging but totally worth it. We went to a waterfall and just enjoyed being on water. A big recommendation if you’re in Revelstoke!!

The rest of the bus ride home to Vancouver was great, a lot of great views of the mountains and I am happy that I had the chance of going on this road trip, thank you!

How was your weekend?

The weekend is already behind us and we are back in Vancouver from our awesome trip to Whistler. Let’s have a look at what happened this weekend.

We started our trip Saturday morning at 8:30 am. The Bus drive to Whistler was amazing, as we did a few stops at different locations. Our first stop was at the Porteau Cove Provincial Park, where we had to introduce ourselves to the other candidates. After that we had lunch at Alice Lake. Some of us used the opportunity and went swimming there. Luckily we had good weather during the whole trip. 🙂23094e8f-2915-40d7-baa8-058006e68484

Once we arrived in Whistler, we had time to explore the village. There are so many tiny shops, pubs and good restaurants, so it was difficult to choose where to go first. After dinner at the hostel we decided to go to a pub with the whole crew. We played a few funny games there, for example a XXL Version of Uno. Finally we went to one of the big nightclubs of Whistler where we had a great party.

Checkout from the the hostel was early in the morning for the ones who signed up for an activity. There are a lot of different opportunities how you can spend your day in Whistler, for example zip lining, riding the peak to peak gondola or mountain biking. A big group of us decided to do zip lining and I can tell you – it’s definitely worth the money. With a maximal height of 200 meters above the ground you can reach about 100 km/h. It was amazing! I can also recommend the Peak to Peak Gondola. Guiness Records says it is the “highest cable car above ground” and “longest unsupported span between two cable car towers“. When you are on top of the mountains you have the opportunity to go hiking right next to the ski runs, which is pretty cool during the summer months.

The Rockies Review – Part 2

We are back in Vancouver from our awesome weekend in the Rockies. The long weekend, which in my opinion was too short, was filled with many sights along the way. Since it was wonderful weather, we got to experience them in their full glory.

IMG_BanffBy Sunday we’ve already seen quite a bit of the Rockies, and that morning was probably the hardest for everybody to get out of bed, due to our long Saturday night. It was a sunny day in Banff, and no matter what everybody’s plans were, we had the best conditions. We had the opportunity to ride the gondola, which some of you did, and I heard it was amazing. Most of you, however, went to the hot springs and enjoyed the view. I explored downtown Banff, walked around and looked at what the stores had to offer.

By 1:30 we left Banff and drove to Lake Louise. The lake was completely frozen, allowing us to walk on it. Since there was still snow, it seemed like a winter wonderland.

IMG_smoresIn the evening, we arrived at the Mountain View cabins in Golden, BC. It was in the middle of nowhere and we stayed in white little cabins. As the name suggests, we had an amazing view of the mountains. The evening began with a BBQ with burgers and hot dogs. Later that night, we all gathered around the campfire, made S’mores, and our guide, Nicole, sang songs for us, while playing the guitar. The later it got, the more people went to their cabins, as it got quite cold. The next morning our hosts prepared an amazing breakfast and afterwards we headed back to Vancouver.

Overall, it was an incredible weekend with a lot of fun. I was able to get to know you guys better, which I’m happy about. I hope you enjoyed this trip as much as I did.

See you tonight at the pub night at the Beaver.

The Rockies Review – Part 1

As I am writing this blog post I am having some mixed feelings. I am sad because our trip to the Rockies is behind us. I am relieved that everything went well. I am happy because I have some time to rest now. I am also thankful for all the great memories we made during this trip. This weekend was something I am never going to forget.20190420_121953_0-1.jpeg

I still can’t quite process how much sightseeing we managed to do during these past few days. I am not even trying to list all the places we saw since that would require a lot of space and I don’t think it would be that interesting to read. For a change I am going to tell you more about few things that were the highlights of the trip for me.20190420_020416_0

On our way to Banff we stopped at Glacier Discovery Centre. It was time to have a nice walk on a glacier. We hopped on to this vehicle called “the Ice Explorer”, which is especially designed for driving on a glacier. The weather was spoiling us as it was a sunny day and you didn’t really even need a jacket outside. We spent some time walking around the glacier, taking pics (ofcourse) and enjoying the amazing view. There was supposed to be an opportunity to get some super pure water straight from the glacier but it had been snowing so much the previous day that we didn’t find any running water. Instead we ended up collecting some snow from the glacier to our water bottles. I mean it kinda does the job, doesn’t it?20190421_104350_0-2.jpeg

Half way through our trip we spent a night in Banff. A stunning little town surrounded by breathtaking mountains. The night in Banff was a party night for us and we sure partied like there was no tomorrow. The next day it was time to explore the town itself a bit more. Checkout from the hotel was early and our party group was feeling pretty tired after having only few hours of sleep. We made a great plan and decided to visit Banff Upper Hot Springs which was located only a 10-minute-drive away. There we spent a relaxed sunny morning in steaming hot water. The views from the pool to the Rocky Mountains were absolutely gorgeous. What else can you wish for?

As mentioned, this weekend was super eventful, and this was only a sneak peak of the whole trip. If I were to tell you every single thing about the trip, I would have to write a book. What can I say; this trip is something you really have to experience yourself. Thanks to everyone who participated. I had such a great time with you all and without you guys it wouldn’t have been this amazing!

The Rocky Mountains 2019- Are you ready?

Tomorrow is the day! The day that many of us have been waiting for; we will finally leave to the Rocky Mountains. So pack your bags, rest when you still can and get ready for a trip you are never going to forget.33304981604_6da396a973_o

To make sure you don’t miss the ride I would recommend on being in the right place on the right time tomorrow morning. And where would this be? The buss leaves at 7am from 999 Canada place. Do not be late and remember to check how to get to the meeting point at that hour. Sky trains might not be operating that early.

I’ve been getting questions about whether there is Wi-Fi at the cabins, if we need to bring towels or hairdryers etc. I will answer these questions right now. According to the information given from West Trek there will be Wi-Fi at the hotels but not at the Mountain Cabins . The hotels and the Mountain Cabins will both have towels, so no need to bring that. Unless you want to.  The hotels have hairdryers and Cabins won’t. Hotels have shampoos and other stuff, but again, the Mountain Cabins probably won’t. I would bring my own showering stuff. There will be plenty of space in the buss for our luggages so don’t worry about having too big of a backpack.

And again, remember to bring enough warm clothes, two pieces of ID and cash for the optional activities (if you wish to do any). You can find a specified schedule from the Facebook event page. Read also the previous blog posts about the Rockies trip, in case you haven’t done that yet.

See ya guys tomorrow morning!
