How was your weekend?

Another sunny weekend is behind us, where we had the possibility to explore beautiful Vancouver.

Saturday was a pretty chill day for me. I went downtown and did a bit of window shopping in the afternoon, which is always fun.

Sunday was another marathon in downtown Vancouver. I watched it for a while, and it was quite amusing seeing some of the participants dressed up in weird costumes. The atmosphere was great. Afterwards, I walked along the water by Coal Harbour and enjoyed the view as well as the weather.

By the afternoon, I got ready to go to the trampoline park in New Westminster. We met around 5:30, so we could start jumping by 6. In the beginning all of us were full of energy, enthusiastic and jumping around like little kids. Some of us were even able to pull off some flips. The trampoline park also had a foam pit, which was….interesting, as most of us struggled to get out of it. We also had a few intense matches of dodge ball. After one and a half hours we were exhausted but still hung around for a bit. Overall, it was a fun experience. Thanks to everyone who showed up.

Hope to see you on Wednesday at PuB NiGHT!

What to do on the weekend?

It’s Friday, meaning it’s the weekend. If you don’t have any plans yet, here are some ideas. I hope you’re hungry, because this weekend is a foodie’s dream.

North Vancouver’s Shipyards Night Market begins today, with some of Vancouver’s best food vendors. Just to give you an idea of the size, the free market has over 100 vendors, and you will also be able find 19 beer garden, as well as other entertainment. The market is open from 5pm to 10pm. In case you already have plans for tonight, don’t worry the market is open every Friday until 27 September. More infos at: https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/north-vancouver-shipyards-night-market-dates-2019

And now for all the Germans and German fans: The “Prost Haus”, a Bavarian themed beer hall, just opened on the rooftop of 900 Granville street. There, you will be able to find authentic German food like Pretzels, Bratwurst and, of course, Beer. So if you’re feeling a bit homesick, go check it out.

In case you’re in the mood for a bit more Mediterranean food, specifically Greek, I got you covered. This weekend is the 41st Vancouver Greek food festival. Not only will you find lots of food there, but also music, entertainment and history. So if you want to experience Greek culture, this is your chance. The festival is at 4500 Arbutus St from Friday to Sunday.

After all that food you might want to consider some exercise. A group of us is going to the trampoline park in New Westminster on Sunday evening at 5:30. You are still welcome to join. Just sent me message on facebook, so I know who is coming. https://www.facebook.com/events/2258540541073418/

How was your weekend?

Although it has been a slightly cold weekend, I had a lot of fun. Let me tell you all about it!

Cinema June 1st 2018On Friday, I left the office at 6pm, as usual. This time, I did not take the bus home right away. Instead, Kerstin, Nadine, Nadja and I went out for sushi at a place called ‘Momo Sushi’. Unexpectedly, our sushi was served within approximately 10 minutes after the waitress took our order. It is safe to say that the service was amazing. Just like our sushi. Our favourite: the avocado roll. And personally, I love the yam and vegetable tempura as well. The plan was to go to the cinema after dinner, however, the movie did not start until 9:35pm, so we decided to play Rummikub at 131 Water for a while. A few rounds of losing later, it was time to watch ‘I Feel Pretty’ at the cinema. A hilarious feel-good movie with an amazing message. I definitely recommend watching it. At 11:30pm, the movie ended and it was time to head home.

41842966624_2de5485e03_nI did not do anything special on Saturday, so let’s move on to my Sunday. On this day, I spent my morning sleeping in for the first time in weeks. When I was ready to say goodbye to my bed, I FaceTimed with one of my Dutch friends for a few hours. At 3.15pm, it was time to leave the house and go to the Extreme Air Park. Time for this week’s INTERNeX event! We spent the early evening jumping from trampoline to trampoline, playing dodgeball and basketball and jumping into foam pits. We even got to wear special glow-in-the-dark socks. I wouldn’t call it fashion, but they ensured our safety and whenever the lights went off, the socks were the only clothing items that remained visible. We jumped around for an hour and since we were all very sweaty, it was time to go home and have a shower. I spent the rest of the evening watching a movie and then it was time to call it a night.

I hope you all had a great weekend! See you on Wednesday at The Relish for PuB NiGHT!

Smart Saver

It’ Sunday and it’s time for Smart Saver. Here are a couple of tips for how to get through your week without having to spend a whole lot of money. But of course you also want to enjoy life. no problem. Check out these suggestions.

Check out some of the most delicious burgers, waffles and doughnuts in town for prices that you won’t believe. Everything for the price of just $5 or less! Let me give you an example. At 1391 East 41st Avenue you’ll find Duffin’s Doughnuts. This place is open 24/7, and is selling burgers and of course doughnuts for under $5… fantastic! Check out a longer list of different places to go for cheap eats here. If you’re not so much into burgers, waffles and doughnuts then have a look at Ninja Bubble Tea. This is the place to go if you want to get yourself a nice bubble tea for a reasonable price. Bring a student card and you’ll save extra money. The Ninja Bubble Tea store is located at1696 Robson Street.

After a filling yourself with delicious doughnut you probably want to get a bit of exercise 😉 No need to worry. You don’t have to pay a fortune for this. Just go to Robson Square where the public ice rink is now open. It’s for free if you bring your own skates but you won’t have to pay more than $4 for skate rentals. Check out this site for more information.

Finally you can finish off a great and cheap week by taking advantage of free wellness workshops at Polo Health + Longevity Centre on Saturday, December 13, from 10am till 2pm. This will be your perfect mini workshop that will teach you the basics in how to live a healthy life. This wellness centre is located in New Westminster, but remember that you can go through all zones on a one-zone bus ticket during weekends. Have a look at this site to get more info and to view the precise location of Polo Health + Longevity Centre.

Enjoy your week!
