Pub Night Review

Who would have thought that some of us got most inspired by the movie Into The Wild?

Speed friending was good fun yesterday at the Morrissey! We know now what colour underwear some of us were wearing and that we love our parents so much that we all see them as our heroes, sweet!

Lately we have been seeing some new faces and it is nice to get to know each other a little better. So that’s what we did. We paired up and started a conversation using a whole bunch of prepared questions. Each talk took four minutes and after this given time everyone moved one seat in order to talk to the next person. Four minutes seems quite long but after a few rounds we found out that chatting for four minutes is not enough and passes by so quickly that we decided to make it five minutes (and sometimes even longer).

Tell us, what is the most interesting you found out about someone you talked to yesterday?

After Speed Friending we hung around a little and some of us decided to go to English bay to check out the Northern Light. Unfortunately, we did not get a tiny glimpse the of this so-called aurora borealis.

Next week we’ve planned great stuff for you guys! Pub night will be on Tuesday, guess where we are going and what we will be doing! Wednesday is Canada Day and we are going to have a blast!

Hope to see all of you on Saturday for our barbecue!

Tips for the weekend

The weather won’t be as good this weekend as it has been the last few days, nonetheless there are some nice markets that you can visit in V-Town (how I like to call Vancity).

There are two night markets in Richmond; the International Summer Night Market and the Richmond Night Market.

1. The International Summer Night Market is said to be “One of the Top 4 Night Markets in the World”. The International Summer Night Market is an annual tradition that has built its reputation as a truly diverse event and is recognized as a world class landmark attraction in Richmond, British Columbia, Canada.

The admission fee for this market is free, as well as parking. Their operating hours are Friday and Saturday 6pm – 11pm and Sunday 6pm – 10pm.

Address: 12631 Vulcan Way, Richmond. From Bridgeport station free shuttle busses to the Market run every 15 minutes, all night.

2. The Richmond Night Market charges a $2,75 admission fee – their opening hours on Friday and Saturday are 7pm – 12am and Sunday 7pm – 11pm.

The address is 8351 River Road. The best mode of transportation for visiting The Richmond Night Market event is to take Canada Line and get off at the Bridgeport Station. It is highly and strongly encouraged and recommended you take the skytrain!

4. Besides night markets, there also is a lovely day market in Kitsilano. Every Sunday from 10am till 2pm.

Address: Riley Park (Ontario St @ 30th Ave.)

5. Located in the heart of Vancouver’s busy West End, this laid-back Saturday market looks onto beautiful Nelson Park and adjacent community gardens. Weekly, West Enders can enjoy the best in local produce, prepared foods and crafts. Hot food and coffee on-site as well. Take the dog for a walk and enjoy a market in your urban backyard!

Every Saturday, 9am – 2pm.
Address: Comox Street

Pub Night Announcement

Tomorrow there will be another pub night! This week we will be meeting up at The Cambie Pub at 300 Cambie Street in Gastown at 8 p.m. The Cambie Pub is a place to meet people from all over the world; a place to dance and mingle. Every day of the week you can expect a fun and entertaining time here.

Ever wanted to try a slightly different beer? Well, this is your chance, tomorrow they have a deal on the Black Tusk Ale for only $4,25 for a pint. It is a dark beer from Whistler with a really old recipe dating back to 1989. It is an English-style mild ale with a mild bitterness with notes of chocolate and roasted coffee, and a very clean finish.

Bottled beer on offer is MGD which is a Pale Lager, brewed in the United States. In a clear bottle, it’s a lager that is cold-filtered which replaces pasteurization and provides a crisp refreshing taste. It has a nice medium body, but it has little bitterness or aftertaste, making it a very easy drinking beer. This beer will only cost you $4,50.

Not only is there beer on offer, a single Long Island Iced Tea will only cost you $4,75 and a double will cost you $7,75. Still don’t think it’s enough? Then there is a Jagermeister shot for only $4.

Besides drinks they offer a wide variety of food; from a Hummus and Pita Plate and Nachos to Salads and Burgers. For about $10 to $12 you will be able to have a nice meal.

I’ll be happy to meet all of you tomorrow, so see you then!

PuB & CluB NiGHT Review

Last Friday it was time for another PuB & CluB NiGHT and sadly also time to say Goodbye to Danie. We all met us at 7:00 pm at The Cambie ordered some food and of course some drinks, especially some Pitchers of beer for the beginning.

The weather on Friday was really nice, everyone was in a good mood so everything was ready for a great party.  We had a lot of fun together, talked about what we did during the week and what we are going to do on the upcoming weekend including Canada Day on Tuesday, some of us were really lucky because they had a long weekend until Wednesday. So we laughed a lot, had nice conversations, some good drinks and even another great PuB & CluB NiGHT.

So unfortunately it was Danie’s last PuB NiGHT and even the last day as practicum student for INTERNeX. We all said her ‘Goodbye’, which was really sad, and wished her the best for the future and a nice travel along the West Coast. For sure some of us will still keep on touch with Danie.

Hope to see you guys at one of the upcoming events. On Sunday we going to play Paintball in North Vancouver, don’t miss it!
