The PR-team welcomes a new family member!

Guess what people: there is a new face when you enter the INTERNeX office. It is mine and in case you did not had the luck of meeting me yet, then here is your chance of getting to know me a little.

I am a 24-year old girl that listens to the name Nadine. I was born in Basel, a wonderful city in Switzerland. And before you get your hopes up: no, I do not ski or snowboard. Shocking and disappointing, I know. But hey! I am a big chocolate lover, so that makes all good between us, right?

2.5 years ago, I made my first personal big step and moved to the Netherlands. So I was switching from Swiss to Dutch cheese and from breathtaking mountains to absolute flatness. But to be more exactly regarding the geographical content, I moved to the lovely city Breda, where I pursue a study called International Leisure Management. This study is also the reason why you can find me now here in Vancouver doing a practicum for the next 7 months.

It is not the first time I find myself in Canada; I have been here for holidays in 2009 already. Wow, that was a very long time ago (I gotta feeling was THE hit then, feeling old yet?)! Being back means I am ready for new adventures and to create tons of new memories. I really hope you will support me in doing so!

I am looking forward to see you all at our PuBNiGHT tomorrow at the Beaver!

A fresh breeze in the PR-Team

Who is that small girl sitting in the INTERNeX office? It is me, Kerstin. I am now joining Bart and Mandy as a member of the PR-Team. Some of you, I already met this weekend on the ice or in the Yale Saloon. For the rest, let me introduce myself.

kerstin

I am 22 years old and currently studying International Leisure Management in Breda, an awesome city in the Netherlands. This practicum at INTERNeX is part of my study program. And no, I am not Dutch – I am German, from a city called Aachen in the western part of Germany. I really do like the Dutchies, but I decided that it is time now for a new challenge here in Canada.

I enjoy making plans and organizing ahead, so I keep lists and notes for everything and I am happy whenever a plan is working out properly. Since I love the sea, mountains, but also busy cities, I think that Vancouver is the place to be for me. As a scout, I am prepared for the Canadian big city and wildlife. I can be enthusiastic about the smallest things and I am always in for new actions.

So, the PR-Team becomes international from now on. Until August, I will make sure that you can experience many fun activities with us here in Vancouver! I am already excited to ski, hike, party and play games with you!

I am looking forward to meeting all of you at our PuBNiGHT tomorrow. See you there!

PR-team Adventures

On Friday Janel had her last day at INTERNeX, so we wanted to make it a special one for her. I think we certainly did a good job and gave her a proper goodbye.

It already started on Wednesday when Janel got her first gifts from Tim. Tim bought her a cowboy hat and a flag to write on. She had to wear this cowboy hat for the rest of the week.

However, Janel got her real gifts on Friday. She once had this really good bbq lunch so she wanted to have that for her last day. Of course this had to be arranged. To distract her, we sent her with Tim to pick up the lunch. In the meantime we were making everything else ready; getting the gift, Canada tattoos and drinks. As Simon and Tess were a bit late from getting the gift, Janel had to wait in the meeting room till they were back and we all finished writing something funny on the card for her.

So you are probably wondering what Janel got as a goodbye present right? As Janel was always struggling with the pronunciation of “ bear” and always pronounced it as “beer” like a lot of us do too, INTERNeX got her a bear holding a beer. After receiving the gift we finished the day with having her last drinks in the office and we continued her goodbye party in the Blarney Stone.

We wish our former PR coordinator a lot of luck in her future career and “see you later somewhere in the world again” as she would say.

PR-team Adventures

It is always exciting to work at INTERNeX. Almost every week there is something happening here and so did Friday.

It is always hard to miss your boyfriend for such a long time and Daniëlle knows all about that. Her boyfriend left the Netherlands for his internship at the beginning of the school year and they would not see each other till the end of August. This meant that they would not see each other for a whole year. Little did she know that he planned to come over for 2 weeks as a surprise.

He already planned it for months and told Daniëlle that he would not be able to visit her. This all made sense to her, as he had been spending a lot of money during his internship and therefore could not afford a flight to Canada. Her boyfriend planned everything 18155568_10209359822974630_141733640_naround it; the days off, the flight and getting picked up from the airport.

Friday was the big day, Daniëlle’s boyfriend would arrive in the afternoon and we had to keep her busy till he would arrive. It was good timing that I had to film for INTERNeX Explorer the whole day, as I am very bad in keeping secrets. It was therefore no surprise that I only found out about it a few days beforehand. Simon had been teasing her the whole day and said that we would get a surprise in the afternoon. I think it was good that she did not know that the big surprise was for her, as she just said that she hates surprises.

When Daniëlle finally saw her boyfriend walking towards her, you could see that she was overwhelmed by different kind of emotions. “What are you doing here?” was the first reaction she had on her big surprise. That reaction totally made sense to me, because it must have been very confusing to see your boyfriend in Canada while he was supposed to be in the Netherlands. After that she was kind of in shock, but overall she looked really happy to see him again.

It was great to see both of them reunite in Canada and I hope they have a great time together!

PR-team Adventures

Since finding some sweet deals for you can be quite hard in Vancouver, we are changing our blogposts a bit. We are still aiming to find great offers for you with the Smart Saver Vancouver, but we will only post the blogposts every other week from now on. To still keep you entertained, we are going to post some of our adventures in Canada. Those can be some fun things we experience in the office, excited trips we have made, or just random but great stories we want to share with you guys! We are starting off with some pranks we pull in the office.

So Becky, our crazy English girl in the office, went on a little trip to Toronto. Although we missed her since it was so quiet without her in the office, we always like to pull a prank when people come back in the office again. Since she is so excited with geo-cashing, a sort of treasure hunt on the streets worldwide, we decided to make a Becky-cashing.
After some good stalking on Facebook, we found great faces of our lovely Becky. We made them smaller, printed them and placed them all over the office. There was a Becky in the microwave, one on the milk and a few between all the pictures on our picture wall. Yeah, good luck with finding those Becky.

For a more warming welcome, we made her a little treasure map. As soon shbeckytreasurehunte set step into the office, the hunt began. It was so funny to see how excited she was! Although she had a treasure map, she was almost too excited to see all her pretty faces and she missed some really obvious ones. But in the end she had all of them; 28 Becky faces.

We still have not removed all the faces yet, so we can still have a laugh! So if you are stopping by the office and take a look at Becky’s desk, it might be possible to see some beautiful Becky faces.

I hope to see you all tonight at PuB NiGHT to even have a bigger laugh, some drinks and chatting of course 🙂
