How was your weekend?

What do Granville, Chinese Garden, Playland, Bourbon and Koerners Pub have in common? They all have a ‘N’ in the word. Yes, that’s true. But they also have another thing in common. I visited all these places this weekend. Curious what I did there? Find out in the new ‘How was your weekend?’ blog post.

22501126_10212216658803668_742330225_nFriday around four o’clock people slowly were showing up in Oktoberfest style at the office. We played some German music to get in the mood for the Oktoberfest party. When it was 6 o’clock, it was time to go for the real work and we went off to Koerners Pub at UBC to have a nice Oktoberfest. We drank beers in big cups, sang along with music and danced at the outside stage.

Saturday I woke up. Barely. I knew exactly what I was going to do this day: Nothing! Laying in bed all day watch some Netflix. But when the night arrived, I had to get changed for some more drinks. Because it was the last night for Lara, we went to the Bourbon to celebrate she leaves. Just kidding, I will miss you. We played some beer pong and pool. After all a nice night.

2017-10-16 16.50.47_previewOn Sunday morning we went to the Halloween parade. We had perfect places underneath a heater and we got ourselves some food and drinks. We not only saw scary things, but also a lot of random things. From Chinese dragons to ghost busters, we saw it all. After the parade Lucas and I went to the Chinese Gardens. We learned all about the Yin and Yang of every little detail in the garden. In the night we went to the Fright Nights at Playland. We went into the attractions and haunted houses. I thought they wouldn’t scare me, but I was wrong about that part. In the haunted houses I scared a few times. After trying a BeaverTail we went home. Also had a nice weekend? Share your story at the next PuB NiGHT.

This weekend the Oktoberfest parties started. If you want to celebrate Oktoberfest, there are a couple places to go. Tonight we are going to the White spot to have a thanksgiving turkey diner. We hope to see everybody there to have a nice real thanksgiving experience while you’re in Canada. Afterwards we will go out all together.

Saturday is a good day to visit the look out tower. Tickets cost $17,50 (or $12,50 for students). But because it’s thanksgiving weekend, we want to thanks giving some tickets away for free. The only thing you have to do is sending a video with your best turkey impression and send it to us. The ones with the best impression gets their tickets for free! Winners will be announced tonight. Not a fan of heights? You can also go to the Vancouver Wild Salmon Caravan 2017 Parade this Saturday.

On thanksgiving Monday, you maybe want to visit Granville Island. A Granville island turkey trot is happening this day. This is a run for kids with all kind of side activities on Granville Island. Or go to the Vancouver Aquarium to come nose to snout with Steller Sea Lions.

How was your weekend?

Friday 9 pm. We were sitting in the park. Waiting for the party to begin. Only ten minutes left. Our tickets work, we are in. The party can start. That was the moment my weekend could finally begin.

This Friday we went to DubVision, a party in the Harbour Event Centre. DubVision is a DJ duo from the Netherlands. We went in with our free tickets we received. When we walked in around 11:30 pm, the club was still not that crowded. We bought a drink and the club was becoming more crowded. There were two DJs playing nice music, but we still don’t know if that were guys or girls. There was another DJ playing music before DubVision was on stage. After a couple hours we went home.

Rise and shine, next day has arrived. After all the stuff I needed to do, we went to the sushi bar to eat sushi together. Afterwards we took the skytrain to Granville street where the pub crawl began. We first went to the Cinema Public House, where we began the night with a drink. After 45 minutes it was time to go to the Morrissey, where we sat on the couch singing German songs. So now we had the Oktoberfest part from the pub crawl. We went to Donnellans where we had our own space with tables and bar. We closed the night in the club Belmont Bar. After we danced our asses of, it was time to say goodbye.

Sunday was a lazy day. We went to a jazz thing in a church. After 30 minutes we saw it all, so we decided to go for a coffee at Take Five. Tip: the coffee with Caramel and Sea salt is actually salty. We sat and talked till it was time to go home for dinner. Hope your weekend was great as well.

See you at PuB NiGHT!

WHAT’S UP ON THE WEEKEND?

Thanksgiving is just around the corner associated with a long weekend. Tonight INTERNeX is celebrating this traditional holiday in the highest restaurant in the city. That means we can enjoy our Thanksgiving Dinner with an amazing panoramic view on the 42nd floor. 20842642862_a0b1884807_bUnfortunately the weather isn’t that good, actually it’s pretty bad. Therefore we are not able to see the gorgeous sunset. Nevertheless I’m pretty sure when the lights turn on in the whole city it’ll be awesome.
On Saturday I’m going to Victoria to explore a part of the beautiful Vancouver Island. Have you been there before? I’m looking forward to go there.
As I’ve heard it’s an amazing city where you can experience a lot. Especially the nightlife is known for the enviable cocktail and beer scene. If you’ve never been to Victoria before I guess it would definitely be worth it. On Monday I’ll have Thanksgiving Dinner with my homestay family. Most of you will certainly celebrate Thanksgiving with their homestay family as well.

But what else could you do on the weekend?
For those of you who love to celebrate one of the most famous German events Harvest House is organizing an Oktoberfest on the Queen Elizabeth Theatre Plaza. It’s the last weekend so don’t miss your chance.
If you are interested in history you shouldn’t miss the Walking Tours hosted by Forbidden Vancouver. “The lost souls of Gastown” is a kind of Halloween adventure so it’s not just for those who are interested in history. Feel the creepy spirit even now.

Have a nice weekend!
