INTERNeX is going to Kelowna!

INTERNeX is planning its first trip of 2017 on the 17th of February. This time we will spend 2 nights in the beautiful city Kelowna. Kelowna is a city on the east from Vancouver. Next to it lays an amazing lake called Okanagan.

Kelowna is known as the warmest place of Canada in summer, which is why this is the perfect place for the making of wine. The Sparkling wine of Kelowna even have won a lot of prices on the world market. Therefore, it would be a great option to do wine tasting during the Kelowna trip. If you are a wine fan, interested in Kelowna’s culture or just an alcohol fan, you definitely should not miss the opportunity to try Kelowna’s amazing wine.

Not such a fan of wine, but still want to get to know Kelowna’s culture? Then you should try out a food tour or check out the Farmers’ and Crafters’ market in Kelowna. Food is a very important part of the Canadian culture and therefore if you really want to feel Canadian, you should get to know its food culture.

It is also a perfect area if you like to get active. Big White is a great mountain where we can go skiing, snowboarding, snow shoeing or snow tubing! Skiing is something you really should have done during your stay in Canada, so this trip gives you the great opportunity to try out skiing for the first time. If you do not like snow that much, you can also try out one of the amazing hiking trails in this area. There are a lot of hiking trails around the lake, various parks and even on Big White.

Subscription has to be done at the INTERNeX office or during PuB NiGHT. However, we have preference to arrange everything in the office. The trip costs $240 and you have to pay it in cash, so do not forget to go to the ATM beforehand. Accommodation and transportation is included in this price. All activities mentioned above are optional and are additional expenses. To keep being updated, check out the Facebook event: https://www.facebook.com/events/1752728721720859/

We only have limited spots available, so subscribe and pay to ensure your spot soon!

INTERNeX experiences Whistler

Past Friday we started our amazing weekend trip to Whistler. During our bus ride we collected some power for the night. Whistler received us with rain and the way from the bus station to the hotel therefore was not that enjoyable, especially because we all had to carry lots of food and of course our baggage.
Furthermore the challenge for me was to guide all people, with suitcase in the one hand, IMG_2008mobile phone as a navigation system and umbrella in the other hand, to our accommodation.
After arriving there we divided all the food (more or less) fair and got ready for having dinner.
I was wondering that we managed to go out togetherbecause actually it’s always a little difficult to handle so many people. Therefore I’m glad we made it! Afterwards we met up in one of our rooms for celebrating the rest of Vivien’s birthday. In addition to that we partied into Yannick’s birthday. We had lots of fun!

IMG_2072Concerning the weather the next day was a way better than the day before.

Luckily the sun was shining the whole day. Perfect requirements for doing all the activities we had planned. Most of us did zip lining which is really amazing and it’s also a lot of fun! I have done that before so I just went hiking with some other girls. We bought a ticket for one of the gondolas and enjoyed the gorgeous view on the peak of the mountain. Some girls also did bungee jumping. I would never do a bungee jump or something comparable. I’m not afraid of heights but I don’t trust the equipment. However the girls really had fun and would like to do this again. Unbelievable!

As I already mentioned two of our INTEReXers had their birthday this past weekend so we had a good reason to party a lot. That’s why we went out to have some drinks after we cooked dinner on our own. That night was just awesome!IMG_2075

Sadly we didn’t manage to go out as a whole group because some preferred to go to a Club and some only wanted to go to a Pub. I decided to join the “Pub Crawl”. We played darts and some drinking games. It was so much fun!

Even on Sunday our group was separated. I was part of the “Adventure Group”. We wanted to go to Alta Lake, which is actually very close to Whistler Village, and our plan was to rent a canoe but instead we experienced the surroundings (even if it was involuntary…). Nevertheless I guess there are worse places to spend your Sunday afternoon. The weather was beautiful and for that reason we relaxed on a jetty and enjoined
the amazing view we had on the mountains, the lake and the houses around the lake.IMG_2079
And then the weekend trip was already almost over again. Time flies a way too fast especially if you are having a good time and that’s what we had.

Hope you enjoined the trip as much as I did!

Review: Whistler Trip

We are back from our amazing trip to Whistler. Unfortunately Henrik was sick and not able to join the trip, so we were just a small group of 7 people, but however we had a really great time.

We headed off for our adventure with the bus Saturday, September 27, at 10:30 am and arrived in Whistler round about 1 pm.  After a short time of confusion we got the right bus to our Hotel, Coast Backcomb Suites at Whistler. The Hotel was pretty nice, we got two big rooms, each with a kitchen, a balcony, a bedroom and a small living room.

After the check in some of us went out to go horseback riding, which was pretty cool. The horses were well behaved and we saw the Alexander Waterfalls, which was really amazing. Our tour guide was pretty cool and looked like a real cowboy, he told us some really funny stories and even offers us a job as a tour guide, because he always need some.
The rest of the group went through Whistler Village, which is pretty nice with all the small shops, and enjoyed the sun.
In the evening we cooked some spaghetti with tomato sauce. It wasn’t the best dinner we ever had, but it was eatable. Of course it was also time to start drinking some cider and beer. Since it is allowed to drink alcohol even in the hot tubes, we took our bottles with us and enjoyed lazing around in the hot tubes. The hot tubes closed at 10 pm so it was time for us to go out to explore the Night Clubs in Whistler. You can imagine we had a really great night.

Unfortunately we couldn’t avoid a little hangover on Sunday, but after the breakfast with some muffins and waffles we all felt better. We checked out and left our bags at the hotel. During the boys went to Lost Lake just to hang out in the sun, the girls went up to the Whistler Mountain with Whistler Village gondola. Up on the Mountain we hiked to Harmony Lakes, which was really beautiful. We had amazing views over Whistler and the Mountains and totally enjoyed the fresh mountain air. Since the Olympic Winter Games 2010 were placed in Whistler as well, of course we had to take some pictures in front of the Olympic Rings. The bus back to Vancouver picked us up at 4:30. We arrived really tired but happy in Vancouver at 6:30.
I hope you guys enjoyed the trip as much as I did.

Click here if you want to see some more picture of our great trip to Whistler.

Because of Thanksgiving and Halloween there is no overnight trip in October but I hope many of you will join our next overnight trip to Portland in November for some Christmas shopping.

Looking forward to see you at our next Pub Night on Wednesday.

A new month means another overnight stay. Since the sun is out and the flowers are blossomed it is time to visit the capital of BC, Victoria.

We will leave for Victoria on Saturday 26th of July at 7am from Waterfront and will take the public transport to the ferry terminal in Tsawwassern. From there we will hop on the ferry and continue or travel to Victoria. In Victoria we will firstly check-inn our hostel from where we than well explore Victoria.

Victoria is the provincial capital of BC and second largest city after Vancouver. Victoria is located on Vancouver Island which is rated as the top island in the Continental US and Canada and is voted as one of the top ten islands in the world in 2012 by the Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards. Victoria is a combination of heritage architecture, colourful gardens and many outdoor activities as well as culinary experiences and a vibrant art and culture scene.

We will end our night with some drinks in one of Tim’s recommended pubs. The next morning we will have some more time to explore Victoria and who wants can join one of the many outdoor activities, such as kayaking, sup or biking. We will start or return in the late afternoon and will be back in Vancouver around 9-ish.
