Smart Saver Vancouver

This week we have a ‘artsy’ Smart Saver for you. It is the last week of February and the last week you can visit the art gallery for only $10 and receive a exclusive Emily Carr print, while supplies last.

Emily Carr was a Canadian artist and author and the Canadian Encyclopedia describes her as a ‘ Canadian Icon‘. She is mostly known for her forest scenes paintings, however the aboriginal themed paintings, which she made in her earlier years, are also popular among the artistic folks.

If you like more the wood carving arts, you should visit The Dance Screen (The Scream Too) exhibition by James Hart during your visit at the gallery. His exhibition is inspired by the traditional Haida stories, which were depended on salmon for their survival.

The gallery opens daily from 10am to 5pm and on Tuesdays until 9pm. If you do not want to pay $10 for your visit, than visit the gallery Tuesdays between 5pm and 9pm for free or make a donation.

INTERNeX Canada: Casual Friday

Today I want to share something special with everybody. Namely my favorite Artist Ria Engelen, she is a new and upcoming artist, so like her on Facebook. She has painted many paintings and sculpted many sculptures, however below you will find my favorite painting from her work so far.

The painting is called “The Seasons of Life”.

In this painting you can see an apple tree going through all the seasons. Starting at spring with beautiful apple blossom, getting apples in the summer and then losing all leafs in the fall and then starting over again after the winter has blown over.

Secondly, you can see the seasons of a woman’s life. Starting as a child, growing to be a woman in her prime and ending life as an older lady who has all the experience and memories to prove it.

You can also see the rising sun by day and the moon by night, which also can mean the rising dawn and the fall of dust, the beginning and the end.

However, everybody sees something different and for everybody art has different definitions. Do you want to share yours?

Just mail it in and win prizes!!

Have a nice weekend.
