What to do on the weekend?

The weekend is upon us, and if you still don’t know what to do the next few days, here are some suggestions. Foodies pay special attention, because this weekend you will have a few opportunities to get some amazing food.

Saturday is the NOSH Foodie Fest in the parking lot of the Capilano Mall from 11 am to 6 pm. There you will be able to find seven food trucks to satisfy your taste buds. And even better, the admission is free.

Another event to consider on Saturday might be the 60th anniversary celebration of the Vancouver Maritime Museum. The celebration will be from 10 am to 9 pm and will include live entertainment and attractions. The admission is free.

On Saturday and Sunday are the Philippine Days 2019, which are being held at Waterfront Park in North Vancouver. This outdoor festival offers loads of Filipino culture such as authentic cuisine, live performances as well as parade demonstrations. There will be over 75 food and merchandise booths at the park sharing their culture with you. The event will be on Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm and on Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm. The admission is free, but it is advised to bring cash, to pay at the booths.

You can also join us on Sunday in Queen Elizabeth Park for some Disc Golf, where we will be able to explore the Park and enjoy a nice game with friends. We will meet at Vancouver City Center Sky Train station at 12.20 pm or you can also meet us directly at the Little Mountain Disc Golf course at 1 pm. Wear comfortable clothes and bring some water. On Sunday is the Italian Day 2019, where everything Italian will be celebrated. The event will be held on Commercial Drive, which will be car-free zone for that day. You will be able to find over 120 merchants, food vendors and entertainment at the event. Just to give you an idea of the size of the event: 300,000 attendees are expected. The event is from 12 to 8 pm and the admission is free.

Are you looking forward to another nice and sunny weekend in Vancouver but not sure yet how
to spend your time outside in the nice weather? Don’t dispair. Here’s a few suggestions..

The Powel Street Festival
Take advantage of the Multicultural life that Vancouver has to offer and experience the Powel Street Festival. This special Japanese-Canadian festival celebrates Japanese arts, culture and heritage. You’ll have the chance to experience everything from delicious Japanese food to martial arts performances. The festival starts at 11:30am, at Alexander Street. Celebration of Light
As you know the Celebration of Light is finished off with a great final delivered by Japan. It will be another year before you’ll have the chance to experience this amazing event again so don’t miss it! As usual the fireworks starts at 10:00pm but you won’t have to wait till evening. Already at 2:00pm there will be lots of activities in downtown Vancouver including various cultural performances. Click here for more information on the different performances. As a final warm-up to the fireworks you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy Canadian music performances at the free community concert Shorefest. This Saturday the Shorefest starts at 7:30pm at Sunset Beach and 7:15pm at English Bay.

World championship in karaoke
Enjoy an evening filled with music and fun as the world championships in kareoke is kicked off this Sunday at 5:00pm. Singers from all over the world are participating in this event, where they have the opportunity to stars of tomorrow. The event takes place at 1050 Granville Street, and there’s free admission! Enjoy a money-free weekend this week! Most of the events happening are absolutely FREE for you guys! Join us for the Festival of Lights fireworks in English Bay, see an open-air movie and experience international festivals in Vancouver and Toronto!



FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS – July 28th, @ 4.30pm
Don’t miss world’s largest offshore international fireworks competition! Three countries prepare a fireworks show and a soundtrack for their performances. Join INTERNeX and watch VIETNAM compete in the festival of lights this Saturday! Check out the facebook event!

(fireworks will start at around 10/10:30pm, but we want to make sure we get a good spot sooo we’ll secure a spot at this time and have a mini picnic together first. Anyone who can only join later is more than welcome to just give one us a call and we’ll come pick you up from the Starbucks and take you to our spot)
What to bring: Blanket, snacks for the picnic, soft drinks (please remember that it is not allowed to bring alcohol to the beach) & warmer clothing just in case.

Are you a good dancer or want to be one? Attend these free outdoor Sunday Afternoon Salsa dances in Robson Square, open to everyone, regardless of skill level. INTERNeX Beach Day

Unity Festival 2012

Festival of India
Travel through India during this 40th annual Festival of India! The festival starts off with a parade with 40-foot tall floats, singing, drumming and dancing that starts at Bloor, runs down Yonge Street continuing south to Lakeshore Blvd. After the parade experience artistic performances, Indian music and dance, a South Asian Bazaar, exhibits, and face painting on Centre Island. Pan American Latin Jazz Festival
The 2012 Pan American LATIN JAZZ Festival celebrates the culture of the Americas and is the first Festival in Canada to focus exclusively on Latin Jazz music.
