About INTERNeX: Hospitality Program!

Are you getting bored with your daily routine? Looking to travel? How about working WHILE being a tourist? Experience the working life in a hotel, resort or any company in a tourism community through INTERNeX’s Hospitality program!

Our program offers you an opportunity to travel abroad and work in world-class cities in the hospitality sector as well as paid positions in resort communities. It doesn’t matter whether you are just taking a break from school or recently graduated, travelling abroad and working with other travelers is both rewarding and exciting!

What are some of other benefits through this program other than working? Well you will be able to improve your language skills, gain experience in the hospitality/tourism industry and especially, learn about Canadian culture!

But working abroad is different than just simply being a “tourist” in a city. It allows you to truly experience what it’s like to live there. This means not only seeing the glamorous aspects of the city but the not-so great parts as well, giving you a more honest and realistic perspective of the place. Also, getting to meet new people daily while working in this ever growing industry and traveling around makes everyday count and never dull! And of course, you will have the best times through our pub nights and weekly activities!

Mark Twain once said, “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did“.  In other words, we shouldn’t be afraid to take chances in life. So will you be next? 😉  For more information please visit our INTERNeX WORLD Website!

INTERNeX Canada: Casual Friday!

Did you know it’s Valentine’s Day next week Thursday February 14th? Uh oh. If you have that special someone in your life and you haven’t thought of what to do or get them, you are in big trouble! Just kidding 😉  If you are having trouble figuring out what to do for your special date, this might give you some ideas! We asked some people from INTERNeX (girls AND guys), on what they thought to be the PERFECT Valentine’s Day date in Vancouver, and here is what they had to say!

The “IDEAL” Valentine’s Day date from the guys perspective:

Guy #1: “I’d start the date by a nice stroll along the Seawall, then dine her at a restaurant (preferably not too expensive). Then I’d ask her to come back to my place”

Guy #2: “My ideal version of a Valentine’s Day date would be to first take a walk somewhere beautiful and scenic. Then we’d have a small picnic. If the weather gets chilly, I’d take off my jacket for her (a man of chivalry, perhaps?). Then I’d walk her home…”

Guy #3: “I’d take her to Granville Island, it’s really nice there and take a walk and maybe check out the market. After, we’d take a water taxi back to Vancouver. Then we’d go back to my place and I’d cook her dinner”

The “IDEAL” Valentine’s Day date from the girls perspective:

Girl #1: “I’d like to take a walk along the beach, followed by a romantic candlelit dinner. After dinner, we’d go to watch a movie. But after that, I’d like to go home and sleep”

Girl #2: “I’d start the day by being treated to a really nice breakfast at home. And by that I mean, the breakfast table has to be all decorated, with coffee, orange juice, pancakes, and everything!  We then will take a walk through a park if it’s nice weather and rent a boat. After, we’d have a really nice dinner at a restaurant. Then I’d end the day by watching a movie of MY choice”

Interesting…very interesting. What will you do on Valentine’s Day for that special someone? Or rather, what would YOU like to do?

Have a great weekend everyone!

Cheers,

Flora

Candidate Exposé

Meet Gudrun, a young mind from Germany who is ready to conquer anything Canada throws her way. I first met Gudrun at the INTERNeX office a few weeks ago, and then again at INTERNeX PuB NiGHT! We chatted for awhile about her internship and how she was enjoying her time spent in Canada. She was so interesting to talk to, I thought I would ask her to share more about her experiences so far.

Why did you decide to come to Canada?
Canada was my destination of choice as I decided I would like to spend time in an English speaking country and Vancouver has a reputation for being innovative and very keen on sports. I think living and working overseas is an important learning/life experience and in today’s global society, it is getting more and more important to gain a more international perspective.

How did you find out about INTERNeX?
INTERNeX is in collaboration with my German organization, which arranged everything for me.

What program are you currently participating in?
I’m doing an unpaid internship!

Do you like program offered by INTERNeX?
Yes, I think they offer many different kinds of options, so anybody will find the right program.

What do you enjoy about your job?
I enjoy learning a lot about the structure and work processes within the company. It’s great to have the opportunity to work unsupervised and to display initiative.

What skills do you use at work?
I use my computer skills along with my verbal and written English language skills.

What would you tell others about Canada as a country?
You have to experience Canada yourself, but I would recommend Canada to anybody. It seems to be a country with lots of international influences and many opportunities, regarding sports, culture, nature, shopping and sightseeing… and the Canadians are all very friendly and open-minded.

Can you sum up your experience in 10 words or less?
Vancouver is awesome, I’ve enjoyed every minute so far!

What kind of activities have you done since living in Canada?
There is still so much to do, but I’ve been to Seattle already, I also enjoyed Stanley Park and the Aquarium, Granville Island, The Capilano Suspension Bridge and of course some pubs in Downtown.

What are your plans for the future?
After my internship I want to travel first before I’m going back to Germany. Afterwards I will either apply for a new job or doing my PhD. I haven’t decided yet.
