What does INTERNeX has to offer you?

Because I just started as an intern at INTERNeX International Exchange, I was wondering what the company exactly does.  I found out that INTERNeX offers four different programs. They would like you to work, live and learn in a different countries. You can have a paid position in breathtaking resort communities with their hospitality program, learn in your field of interest from their internship program and live close to animals and really have a Canadian experience with their ranch stay program. Do you want to help, rescue and rehabilitate orphaned and injured animals? Through their Volunteer Program you can take part and help provide a second chance to orphaned wildlife in Canada.

INTERNeX really believes that a person needs to gain real practical experience in a different country. The company is Canada’s leading placement and full service placement organization specializing in tailor-made internships, work experience and ranch stay to give international students a great experience in Canada.

The INTERNeX staff comes from all over the world and speaks about 10 different languages. So how can this help you? Well this means that there is no language barriers. You’ll always have someone to talk to and relate to, INTERNeX can really be your home away from home. They want to make sure that you feel comfortable coming into the office at any time with any problem, no matter how small or big. They are here for you!

INTERNeX as well provides different kinds of accommodation service: homestay, student staffhouse and hostel. Homestay means that you’ll be living with a Canadian family. It’s a great way to get to know the real Vancouver life. The good thing about living in the student staffhouse is that it will be easy to make friends and it is fun to live there.  A hostel (or even a hotel) is a great solution for people who prefer living close to the city center. Get inside tips from fellow travelers, find travel partners and make new friends.

Maybe you’re a little bit scared to start this experience on your own and that is where my work begins! There are a lot of INTERNeX candidates who come here alone. I will organize social events so that you can meet new people, share your experience and make new friends. There is a PuB NiGHT every Wednesday and of course there will be trips to Seattle, the Rockies and Whistler! At the end you can look back on a great experience here in Canada!

125 Years of Banff National Park!

This year Banff celebrates the 125th birthday of the Banff National Park, a part of the Rocky Mountains. Banff National Park is one of the 42 national park in Canada, a very well protected network of treasured natural and historic places. It is also the birthplace of the word’s first national park services! Until November 2010, special programs and events will celebrate this significant 125th anniversary. Discover unforgettable experiences to add to your time in Canada.

Enjoy hikes, family camping, horseback rides, climbs, cultural excursions, festivals, a national historic site visit, or strolls within the unique mountain communities of Banff and Lake Louise.

This Saturday and Sunday August 28-29 you can join other Banff residents on a camping trip and participate in one of the many interactive events on one of Banff’s 1500 camping sites.

Are you more of an indoor person? No worries how about checking out the Dragon Fli Empire! Calgary’s hip hop heroes are gonna make the HooDoo bounce.

For more information about the events, click here!

I really wish I could join in on the camping trip, my 4 day trip in the Rockies wasn’t nearly enough! But I hope that our INTERNeX Candidates working in Banff have the time to attend one of these celebrations.

Important Notice

As some of you may know, an incident occurred at one of our partner’s staff residences in Jasper, Alberta on Saturday, July 17, 2010.

On Saturday evening at 11:20 p.m. the employee house exploded, causing all 10 people in the residence to be injured. The cause of the explosion is still under investigation but it is suspected that the cause was a gas or propane leak. Unfortunately, two INTERNeX program participants were working and residing at this location at the time, both of which were hospitalized.

One of our participants was released on Monday with relatively minor injuries, while the other remains in hospital with non-life threatening injuries; she has a good prognosis. INTERNeX, our partner organization, the hotel and the consulate are all working together to manage the situation as best we can.

We ask you all to give your thoughts and best wishes to all of the injured and wish all of our candidates a safe stay in Canada.

Sincerely,

the INTERNeX team.

Head down under – Head to New Zealand!

The world we live in is a large and beautiful place. There are approximately 195 countries on earth, all offering different landscapes, cultures and languages. So, have you been exploring yet?  Maybe you’ve only been thinking about traveling, or maybe you’re currently planning your next move. But, if you’re searching for a destination where the landscape is green and the mountains soar as high as your dreams – you’re searching for New Zealand.

New Zealand’s spectacularly beautiful landscape includes vast mountain chains, steaming volcanoes, sweeping coastlines, deeply indented fiords and lush rainforests. Comparable in size and shape to Great Britain, Colorado or Japan, New Zealand has a population of only 4 million – making it one of the world’s least crowded countries. It is a haven for those seeking peace, rejuvenation and relaxation as well as a playground for thrill seekers and adventurers. A temperate climate with relatively small seasonal variation makes it an ideal year-round holiday destination.

Start planning now and you could be on your way to New Zealand in time for the 2011 Rugby World Cup – the premier international rugby union competition. Canada, Australia, England, South Africa, USA, France, Scotland, Ireland, Italy, Samoa, Fiji, and Tonga are just a few of the competing countries! This is the third largest sporting event in the world, behind the Olympics and the Soccer World Cup.

Choose from many INTERNeX programs such as work and travel, gain work experience in the hospitality and tourism industry, undergo a professional internships or even try out our Farmstay program! INTERNeX has the program for you!

INTERNeX has agents in Canada, England, USA, France, Argentina and more! INTERNeX itself also has offices around the world, including New Zealand! Congratulations to our Jasper Group!

Congratulations to our 15 Czech Republic participants that have just arrived safely in Jasper! Here you can see four of the girls that have just arrived and who just sent us this picture. The group was all hired at our annual Czech Republic job fair after we flew our hotel partner over to The Czech Republic to interview more than 40 people.

Working as servers, housekeepers and horse-trail guides, all of the candidates will be in Jasper for the summer – and some may even stay for the winter season as well. Did you know that INTERNeX holds job fairs around the world? Many job fairs are scheduled for next year in Germany, Scandinavia, Czech Republic, Switzerland and The Netherlands.

If you would like to know more about INTERNeX programs and how YOU can spend your summer working in the beautiful Canadian Rockies, visit our websites www.internexcanada.com and www.internexnewzealand.com.

Good luck everyone up in Jasper this summer!

Hi from Houtan!

So you might be wondering who this fine young gentleman is?! Well this is Houtan and some of you  might not have met him before because has been out of the office for a little while. Currently, Houtan is working out of Toronto but will be back in the office in the next few months so here is a quick introduction to a new face (for some of you at least) and check out baby Nala in the picture…too cute!

What is your name?
Houtan

Where are you from?
Tehran, Iran

What languages do you speak fluently other than English?
Russian. I can also communicate in Ukrainian and Arabic and a bit of German, and of course Persian my mother tongue

What position do you hold at INTERNeX? and for how long?
Good question, I have no idea what one would call my position or anyone else’s position for that matter at INTERNeX International Exchange..funny thing is that part of our job is to try and envision what working in a Canadian company would be like to most people who are about to work within a Canadian organization through one of our programs. Yet we work in a company that demonstrates and represents a Canadian organization based on employees from different parts of the world who wear different hats on a daily basis to provide excellence in service. That is why I can’t really tell you what my position is. (does this make sense?) I think Im just blabbing on again, but hey that’s me!! Lol And I have been working at INTERNeX just over 2 years and they have been  full of excitement

What made you want to get involved with INTERNeX in the first place?
Like minded people, think alike…well, I’ve had quite a background in travelling from A to B (never enough though), learning about visas, after finishing up school and getting involved with Canadian Resorts and the hospitality industry, it all seemed like a good match with what INTERNeX had to offer, so there I was getting started and here I am still rocking it

In what ways do you think INTERNeX is unique from other international placement agencies? What does INTERNeX offer that no other company can?
Aside from the fact of how thorough our service is and its not even comparable to any other agency, it’s also that we don’t think our programs are for everyone. The participant needs to understand the purpose of the program before being forced to be a part of it. Our honesty in delivering the service is a key in managing expectations

What changes have you personally noticed within INTERNeX?
I have noticed a number of little programs come and go, but the city placement program was a great success and it still is both in Vancouver and recently in Toronto. We also now have more representatives abroad, an official office in New Zealand, and a more so active presence in Toronto, ON

Where would you like to see INTERNeX in the next 10 years? Do you have any New Year’s goals for the company?
I truly believe that the possibilities are endless. Obviously I, along with the rest of the team, would like to see a world wide network of services provided by INTERNeX offices across the world. Now the services provided by INTERNeX within the next 10 years is what I would like to see continue on its journey to completion and perfection so that one day we’d be a tool for anyone from anywhere in the world that would like to take a trip to any part of the world for the purpose of work experience and/or self development

Tell us one interesting thing about yourself that not a lot of people know?
As a kid I always wanted to become a vet

If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be and why?
It is really hard to answer this question, I love travelling and I don’t think I can settle anywhere for too long. I like what Toronto has to offer as a city, yet Vancouver’s geographical location is much more attractive than Toronto. On the other hand, Kiev Ukraine is one of the most beautiful cities I have ever lived in due to its historical background and remarkable architecture. But again, the grass is always greener on the other side, so we’ll keep on moving
