Highlights of the Year 2016: April, May and June

Another week, another part of 2016. This week the months April, May and June are to discuss.

April April Bränboll.jpg

April started off with Bränboll. Bränboll is a game played in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Germany. The rules are different in every area, so I am not able to explain them. If you ever want to play it go to Google, YouTube or ask someone who knows the game. We had a great day and lots of fun playing this game!

We also enjoyed the PuB NiGHTs and the Beer Pong Night at Cambie.

In April we also had another Rocky Mountains trip! This one was different from the one in February. The first day we travelled to Valemount. After arriving there we had a dinner and played some Hockey in the Rockies. The rest of the evening we sat around the campfire. On day two we drove to Banff. On our way there we stopped at Mount Robson, travelled through Jasper, visited the Athabasca Falls, stopped at the Columbia Icefields and saw Peyto and Bow Lake. After arriving to the hotel we had dinner and went on a night out at Hoodoo in Banff. The third day was a drive to Golden. On our way we stopped at Lake Louise. When we arrived in Golden we checked in into our Mountain View Cabins and enjoyed a BBQ dinner. On the fourth day we already had to drive back to Vancouver. During this drive we stopped at the Okanagan Valley for lunch and joined the Highway 5 to drive through the Coquihalla Valley, where we say the Last Spike and Othello Tunnels.

In April Rebecca joined us in the INTERNeX team, which was great! She is already doing a great job in developing and marketing the Outbound INTERNeX Program.

Lasertag.jpgMay

In May there was a Color Me Rad 5K Race in Surrey, some of us joined this race and had a great time! We also played laser tag in the end of May. It was definitely lots of fun! And like every month we had PuB NiGHTs this month which were great evenings!

June

In June it was a great month to go to the beach, the weather was finally good enough so we made use of that!

We also had another Rocky Mountains trip this month, because some missed the trip in April. We had the same program as the trip in April, which was a great success!!

Another trip in June was the Tofino trip. We went there by bus and had two great days! Some of us went with the Water Taxi Tour to the Maquinna Provincial Park to see the natural hot springs, whales and other wildlife.

We also went to the movie Finding Dory as it just came out in the theaters. Which was lots of fun! We also had our weekly PuB NiGHTs again and went to the Beer Pong Tournament in Cambie.

In the second part of the year the PuB NiGHTS, events and trips were organized by Sandra, Julia and Veronica thank you for doing a great job!

Highlights of the Year 2016: January, February and March

The last month of the year has started and that means that we will start with the Highlights of the Year 2016. This week we start with January, February and March!

January

January, the beginning of this eventful year. It started of great with the first PuB NiGHT of the year at the Bismarck Bar. Later that week we had a great time ice skating at Robson Square.

At the end of January we had our first monthly trip. Skiing and Snowboarding in Whistler. January Whistler weekend.jpgThe weather forecast was perfect for this weekend, it promised a lot of new powdery snow. On Friday we got on the bus and drove to Whistler on the Sea to Sky Highway, which was a spectacular ride with great views. When we arrived we got ready to go on a night out in Whistler Village. The next day we went up to the Whistler Mountain and started skiing and snowboarding. After a long day we sat down and enjoyed some Après Ski. On Sunday we got up early again to enjoy the mountain again before the bus was leaving at 4.30. Everyone fell asleep on the bus, after a long but fun weekend!

February

The events in February were again exciting! In the middle of this month we went on a trip to the Rocky Mountains with West Trek Tours. On the first day we had a long ride to make. We got on the bus at 7 am and arrived in Golden at 6 pm. We checked in to the Mountain View Cabins and all enjoyed our evening together. The second day we made our way through Yoho and Banff National Parks. We stopped at Lake Louise to watch or ice skate on the frozen lake and after that we ice hiked through Johnston Canyon and see frozen waterfalls. After that we arrived in Banff and got ready for our first night out together at Hoodoo Nightclub. On the third day we went to Lake Minnewanka and Two Jack Lake. Making our way back to Golden we stopped at Emerald Lake and after that have a big BBQ a
t our Mountain View Cabins. Day four was the day to get back to Vancouver again. But before that we went to the Rocky Mountain Buffalo Ranch and travel through the Okanagan Valley.

March Pub Night.jpgAnother event was the Special Edition of FlyOverCanada. We enjoyed a flight over Canada and over China! This was in celebration of the Chinese New Year.

And of course we can never forget the PuB NiGHTs and the Beer Pong Night at the Cambie.

March

In the beginning of March we enjoyed the view over Vancouver at the Vancouver Lookout! And a few weeks later we celebrated St. Patricks Day by going to the parade and have a party at Blarney Stone! It was lots of fun! Also all the other PuB NiGHTs were really nice!

A big thank you to Sandra and Vivien who organized the PuB NiGHTS, events and trips in the first months of 2016!

A warm welcome to Lina and Julie

Soon I (Henrik) won’t be at INTERNeX anymore. I’ll have my last day at INTERNeX on Friday, December 12, and will be leaving Vancouver on Thursday, December 18. At the moment I’m about to plan my last event.

So, what is going to happen now? A couple of you guys have already asked this question. Don’t worry. I’ll pass it on to Lina Reumann and Julie Thonhaugen. For now they’ll be taking care of the pub nights throughout December. Please give these two awesome girls a warm welcome, although a lot of you know them already 🙂

Highlights of the Month July

July was a packed with activities and nice weather and august will be even better. The Summer Rockies trip is coming up. We started July with celebrating Canada Day by watching the parade and enjoying the fireworks in Stanley Park. On the 6th of July we went to Deep Cove. Even if it is rainy Deep Cove is a beautiful place to go to and you certainly have to try the famous honey doughnuts. On the 12th of July we went to the street festival in Kitsilano. There were many little markets and we walked from burrad to McDonald and ended up on the beach in Kits. The following weekend we went to a distillery in Granville island where we tasted their gin, whiskey and vodka. We also enjoyed some cocktails before and after the tasting. On the last weekend of July it was time for our monthly overnight trip to Victoria. Due to skytrain problems we missed our ferry and had to take a later one. Once we arrived in Victoria we went straight to the Canoe Pub for lunch, afterwards we walked to the empress hotel and parliament building. After taking pictures of the stunning harbor we went to Fisherman’s Warf were we enjoyed an ice-cream. We had dinner at spinnakers and afterwards went to a local pub. The next morning we went for typical american breakfast and rented bikes. We had lunch at the spaghetti factory and took the ferry at 6pm back to Vancouver. Now that July is over it is time to inform you about our activities in August. We already started August of this Sunday with the Pride Parade. From the 8th to the 11th we will join the Summer Rockies trip and visit Revelstoke, banff and Valemount before heading back to Vancouver. The next weekend we will explore Granville Island where you can rent a kayak or SUP board and paddle along the False Creek. On the 29th of August we will have another Pub & Club night. And of course we have our weekly pub nights on Wednesdays.

We hope you enjoyed July and we will see you in August

Highlights of the month June

July welcomed us with sunshine and Canada day, it’s going to be a beautiful month! However before we really start July lets see what we did in June and we are going to do in July.

We started June with a White Water Rafting / Camping trip to Chilliwack with the one and only Lee. He picked us op on Saturday afternoon and we drove down to Chilliwack. There we set up our tents and enjoyed the night. The next morning it was time to go rafting and after an amazing time on the water we came back to the camp for lunch and a last game of volleyball.

On the 21th of June we went to the Pint to watch the soccer game Germany against Ghana. We had a nice little brunch before the game started and afterwards most of us decided to enjoy the sun by either going to the beach or for a bike ride around Stanley Park.

We ended the month with a Pub&Club night where we also sadly had to say goodbye to our intern Daniela. We will miss here, but we are sure she will have a blast traveling and wish here all the best for the future.

The first of July will of course be celebrated with joining the parade and watching the fireworks. On the 12th of July we will relax at the Khatsahlano street party with music performances, little markets and food trucks. On the 20th of July we will to for a hike at the Grouse Grind and on the last weekend of July it is time for our monthly overnight trips. This time to Victoria.

As you just heard we have many fun activities planned for you in July, so make sure you check Facebook regular or come to our pub nights to get the newest information about the activities. (ps: our next pub night will be on the beach again!)

We hope you enjoyed our little video and let us know what your favorites were in June and what you would like to do while you are here!

INTERNeX Canada: Flora says “it’s time for us to part, my friends!”

I can’t believe my internship here at INTERNeX has come to an end! Wednesday is really an odd day to end, isn’t it?

To be honest with you,  I was a complete nervous wreck when I first started way back in January. Everything was so overwhelming and every single task terrified me. As soon as I heard that I  might be the only PR intern working, I was seriously worried…had I made the right choice? But of course, the answer was yes. I don’t think I’ll ever regret this…especially because I was able to meet so many wonderful people. To everyone (including those who have already left Vancouver), although it might have been a short time, I had so much fun and thanks for being AWESOME.

I’ll always remember our hilarious pub nights, trips on the weekends, the beautiful and fun Rockies trip, and of course that amazing pub and club night last Friday. I want to let you all know that you have impacted my life in so many ways. To all the staff in the office, thank you for being so encouraging and supportive. It’s actually weird that I have to leave…I was just getting so comfortable here!

What’s next for me, you ask? Well, it’s back to being a student for the moment. Yep, that means textbooks and exams (no more pub nights for me on weekdays…no tequila shots). And after that, who knows! But I’ll still be around in Vancouver so we can hangout!

I want to leave with a quote (you might have read it on my desk frame), “Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened” -Dr. Seuss. What an incredible, amazing, lovely, humbling, fun, and most of all, learning, experience. I’ll miss everyone and not being the one in charge haha but hey, it’s my turn to sit back.

note* I think out of all my blog posts, this was the hardest to write. I just didn’t know where to begin.

See you around,

Flora

About INTERNeX: Hospitality Program!

Are you getting bored with your daily routine? Looking to travel? How about working WHILE being a tourist? Experience the working life in a hotel, resort or any company in a tourism community through INTERNeX’s Hospitality program!

Our program offers you an opportunity to travel abroad and work in world-class cities in the hospitality sector as well as paid positions in resort communities. It doesn’t matter whether you are just taking a break from school or recently graduated, travelling abroad and working with other travelers is both rewarding and exciting!

What are some of other benefits through this program other than working? Well you will be able to improve your language skills, gain experience in the hospitality/tourism industry and especially, learn about Canadian culture!

But working abroad is different than just simply being a “tourist” in a city. It allows you to truly experience what it’s like to live there. This means not only seeing the glamorous aspects of the city but the not-so great parts as well, giving you a more honest and realistic perspective of the place. Also, getting to meet new people daily while working in this ever growing industry and traveling around makes everyday count and never dull! And of course, you will have the best times through our pub nights and weekly activities!

Mark Twain once said, “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did“.  In other words, we shouldn’t be afraid to take chances in life. So will you be next? 😉  For more information please visit our INTERNeX WORLD Website!

Cheers,

Flora
