INTERNeX Canada: How was your weekend!

Last Saturday we went for a fantastic Big Bus Tour around Vancouver. Vancouver has too many places to see, but if you don’t have enough time this bus is the perfect option for you!

It was a little bit cloudy at the beginning, but still we could enjoy the beautiful city and during the tour the sun showed up!

We started the tour in Water Street, in Gastown, and the bus took us to the most beautiful and important places in Van!

The bus from Gastown took us to Canada place and then continued its way to English Bay.

The bus continued to Stanley Park, and there we  changed to a special bus which goes over the whole park. There we could enjoy the Lost Lagoon, the Totem Poles and then we stopped to take pictures of Lions Gate Bridge!

This was one of my favorite parts of the tour because from some points of Stanley Park we could see the amazing skyline of Downtown Vancouver!

After Stanley Park, we continued our way to Granville Island, this amazing and peculiar place!

There we could take a ferry loop on False Creek from Granville Island to English Bay and return.

When we finished exploring a little bit the Public Market we came back to finish our tour, going over the Chinese Gardens and Chinatown.

I forgot to mention that during our tour we could enjoy 2 big events in Downtown: The Anime Revolution 2013 and the Vancouver Zombie Walk!

Without any doubt, it was an amazing afternoon !!

What did you do during the weekend guys? I hope you enjoyed it as I did !

See you soon!

Best,

Mercedes

INTERNeX Canada: How was your weekend?

Though it was cold and cloudy, it sure did not stop us from having an amazing time at the Granville Island Brewery tour last Saturday!

At first we didn’t know what we were getting ourselves into as our tour guide took us to the backroom where the  brewing process happened. But as she explained and took us through each step on how they make their unique Granville Island beer, everyone definitely became more relaxed. But of course, I’m sure everyone was just thinking about the tasting part of the tour!

I personally thought the best part of the tour was the beer sampling, and we got to choose three! Most of us went with the Limited Release, Maple Cream Ale, and the Hefeweizen. My favorite was the Hefeweizen because it tasted like Bananas! As we sat there drinking away, we chatted about the beer, which ones we liked and didn’t like. It was really cool getting to taste different types of their beer and I learned a lot about the process as well. If you haven’t been to Granville Island yet, you should visit it as least once before you leave Vancouver!

And those of us who braved the cold to watch the street performer after walking around the Public Market, we can all agree that the performer was just dragging out his act and making it look so much more difficult than it actually was.  I could have done that…well, maybe.

Then on Sunday, I got to sleep in and got to be lazy for a bit, which was super nice. That is until I went to the gym to work out. It made me feel better  that I exercised but now my arms are sore!

What did you do last weekend? Comment below and tell us! If you don’t have any plans and want to do something awesome this weekend, you should come skiing and snowboarding with us at Cypress Mountain on Saturday Feb 9th! Check our Facebook event page for more information!

Cheers,

Flora

INTERNeX Explorer: Granville Island – Part 2

Last week we learnt a little bit about the history of Granville Island, but let’s be a little more practical and explore what you can actually do there if you visit today.

Granville Island is a must visit place if you are in Vancouver. It usually the place to be when it’s hot and summer, but I don’t see why we can’t go now! Let me tell you a list of reasons why…

  • Granville Island Brewery Tour – We got this first “to do” planned for you. Join us this Saturday February 2nd to tour British Columbia’s first “cottage” brewery and learn how the famous Canadian beer that you drink at every pub night is made. How can you say no to beer?
  • Public Market – Everything happens here. You will find the freshest fruits, breads, meat and seafood from our local farmers. A wide assortment of crafts to bring home as gifts. Or street performers who are always here to entertain you.
  • Eat, eat and eat! – Granville Island is famous for its food; you can find everything from waterfront cafes, gourmet restaurants or a small snack from the market. I love every kind of seafood out there and this is definitely one of the best places for that.
  • Ride a boat – My friends and I did this back in September and when you split the costs, it’s not so expensive. It’s the perfect way to see the beauty of False Creek and North Vancouver. You can also go kayaking or paddle boarding.
  • Events & Festivals – There is always something going on, make sure you keep yourself updated with their events schedule. Chinese New Year is coming up and you don’t want to miss the annual Lions Dance!
  • Arts and Crafts – It’s a haven for you art lovers. You will find local handmade jewelry, photography, pottery, stained glass, soaps, decorations and much more.

Basically, Granville Island is a great way to get out of the city when you need a break. Here’s a hint for the gentlemen: it’s the perfect place for a date! Sigh, if only I had a date…

Cheers,

Queenie

INTERNeX Canada: Seattle Trip Review

The Seattle Trip was in one word “amazing”. We had so much fun and so many memories have been made that will last us a lifetime. That is why next weekend we have a Seattle After Party to share all the stories and pictures of this amazing trip.

Friday we arrived in Seattle and after we got settled in the hostel we all went out for dinner at a diner called Hurricane Cafe. We had to wait a little while but the food was great.

On Saturday and Sunday everybody split up into groups and did their own activities. Some did the UNDERGROUND tour and were amazed by the experience. Others went to the flight museum, Pioneer Square, Gumball Wall, Shopping, Pike Public Market, Chocolate Factory, Cheesecake Factory and some went up into the Space Needle.

I for one went shopping and walked to Volunteer Park, which took us most of the day. We got into a Chinese museum for 50 cents, this was quite an experience. And I saw the view from the Water tower; it was so amazing it took my breath away. Furthermore others went to the HARDROCK Café, it was so much fun, they talked and listened to music. After their meal they even got a free cocktail glass.

All in all the weekend was unforgettable!!

Next weekend there is a Seattle After Party!!!

This is THE opportunity to share all our stories and show all the pictures.

Time: 4pm until 6pm

Where: INTERNeX office, Suite 200-211 Columbia Street, Vancouver.
