BC Seafood Fest 2010

Do anyone of you miss the good food from home as much as I do? And especially seafood? If you want to enjoy some of British Columbia best sea food, go the the BC Seafood Fest at Richmond!

The festival will celebrate wild BC salmon, sablefish and sardines for the third time while offering demos of top Chefs! You can also get free recipes from them for preparing seafood (isn’t it cool?).

You can even shop off the docks for fresh salmon, sablefish and sardines, and explore the expanded market area. There aren’t any festival without music, so you can enjoy live entertainment from Darren Specht & the Blues-hawks! And I will be waiting for you there between two beats of fins!

The Wild BC Seafood Fest will take place on Saturday, August 28th between 11:00 am and 4:00 pm at the Steveston Harbour Authority Fisherman’s Park (in front of the Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site • 12138 Fourth Avenue) in the fishing community of Steveston, Richmond, BC.

Humm! I’m already starving! 😉

Let’s Go Paintballing!

Ready to gear up? Join other INTERNeX candidates for an adrenaline-rushing game of Paintball on Thursday July 8, 2010. Shoot or get shot as we run, crawl and hide over a span of three-acre terrain!  You don’t want to miss this event – and girls – you need to come out too!

We will be playing from 2 p.m. – 6 p.m. at NorthShore Paintball, which is located just minutes from downtown Vancouver. Laura and I will be heading over to a thrift store to pick out some outrageous outfits (maybe even some comfortable dresses) to wear while we pulverize the boys! Make sure to wear comfortable, old clothing because this is going to be a highly active couple of hours! Grab some friends, some coworkers, even your boss and open fire at INTERNeX Paintball! We guarantee you’ll relieve some stress and leave with tons of fun memories (and maybe a few bruises).

If we don’t get a group of 12 or more, here are the prices. Please note that NorthShore Paintball only accepts cash payments, so please come prepared.

Admission:

Pay only $10 for rentals and entry! Not including paintball prices.

Vancouver: Real or Movieset?

Did you know that Vancouver has the largest film industry in Canada? A lot of movies and television series are made right here. The Public Library is particularly popular in the film industry. It is featured in movies and television shows such as Battlestar Galactica and X-Men: The Last Stand.

The popular television show Smallville is also shot right here in the Vancouver area. The high school exterior and the first few episodes where shot at Vancouver Technical Secondary School located on 2600 East Broadway, Vancouver. The Daily Planet building is in real life the Marine Building, located on 355 Burrard Street, in downtown Vancouver. The Luthor mansion is in real life the Hatley Park National Historic site, which houses the Royal Roads University. Even the Kent Farm exists somewhere in BC. The show itself is shot at the studio located in Burnaby.

Other popular television seriesthat are shot in Vancouver are X-files, Sliders, Stargate SG-1 and the Andromeda series.

Because there are so many movies and TV series being made here in Vancouver, you might be lucky and see a movie star. Jeff Goldblum has been seen playing piano at a downtown lounge; Robin Williams sometimes visits a Chinese restaurant on Burrard Street. Even Gwyneth Paltrow, Barbara Streisand en John Travolta have been spotted right here in Vancouver.

To see what movies or TV series are in production in Vancouver, visit the BC Film Commission Film List, for the latest news.

So keep you eyes open for anything that could like a movie set or go to one of the chic downtown hotels to where you might get lucky and see a glimpse of your favorite star! If you do happen to spot a celebrity, let us know!
