INTERNeX Canada: Picture of the week!

This picture of the week was taken at our Pub and Club night at the Pint on Friday! It was a huge party with so many people who gathered that night. It was a special event since it was Maike, Jildau, and Tam Ara’s going away party and of course it was a hockey game night in Vancouver! We also had a guest from Westtrek who gave us a one day ticket to either Whistler or Seattle, so we decided to do a draw. And the winner was Queenie! Later during the night, the DJ came on and we all went up to the dance floor. Everyone showed off their dancing moves, and I got to say, some were so hilarious! Overall, the night was a huge success 🙂

Cheers,

Flora

INTERNeX Canada: Queenie says See you later!

As my journey at INTERNeX comes to an end, it’s time for my goodbye post and I’ll try to keep it as least sappy as possible.

But, where do I start? The past 5 months here at INTERNeX has an incredible adventure and that is an understatement. I have experienced so much more than I could have asked for when I first started here in September.

To be honest, I didn’t know what to expect. Having lived here my entire life, I especially didn’t expect that I would learn so much more about Vancouver than what I already know. I guess when you live here, you tend to do the same things and have the same routine all the time. I now have a new appreciation for what a beautiful and vibrant city Vancouver actually is.

INTERNeX has also taught me not to be afraid and just go for whatever comes my way. I’m not the most daring person ever, but INTERNeX has certainly changed that. Whether it was tacking different tasks at the office, jumping out of an airplane or dancing on the frozen Lake Louise, I can say that it was all worth it. Being put in different situations and doing things I’ve never done before has allowed me to grow up enormously.

Finally, everyone I have met here through INTERNeX has been nothing, but the best. To everyone in the office, thanks for all the help and support you have provided and for opening up your lives and company to me. To everyone I’ve met through the orientations, trips and crazy pub nights, it’s been so great to make all these special memories and friendships with y’all, and really, I’ve learnt that you Europeans know how to party. So when I visit Europe, it’s your turn to show me around, okay?

Since I am not actually leaving Vancouver, this is more like a see you later! However, my life will probably be a lot less exciting not being on the PR team, but it’s time for me to start a new phrase and discover new things. As Taylor Swift once said, “This is a new year. A new beginning. And things will change.” Like I said, not to get sappy or anything.

Cheers,

Queenie

INTERNeX Canada: Queenie says hey!

Hey everyone,

Working in the public relations industry has always been something that I’ve dreamt of and now here I am at INTERNeX! In the past August, I finished my degree in Communications at Simon Fraser University, and now I’m ready to explore the world on my own. It’s only my first day here, but I have learnt so much already and have met many new co-workers from all over the world, but I know that there is so much more to come. I am very excited to dive into all the challenges, gain practical experience, and of course, go out to all the pub nights and events!

Unlike many of the other interns, I am from Vancouver. Well, originally I was born in Hong Kong, but moved here with my parents when I was seven. Ever since then, I have called Vancouver my home.  Back then, coming from a foreign country, as well as speaking a different language and not knowing anyone was quite intimidating. Fast forward to 2012, Vancouver has evolved into this multi-cultural city, where you can just about find people of every ethnicity, and that goes for food, music, dancing…. This is what I love about Vancouver the most:  there is just so much to do!

My favorite thing to do in the winter is go snowboarding on Cypress Mountain. This sport may seem difficult at first and admittedly rather painful, but it is so thrilling when you get the hang of it. Now, I am not the most athletic person and am probably the girl-iest person you will ever find, so if I can do it, so can you! I also love cheering on the Vancouver Canucks during the hockey season, which runs from October to May. Being in this city, it is hard not to get caught up with emotions that surround it.  Last year, I was devastated when I had to miss the entire playoff run as I was travelling in Asia. Though this changed when I found that there was a pub where all the Vancouverites gathered at 8 am (due to the time difference) to watch the game. People called in sick just so they can watch the game, that’s how dedicated and attached people are to the hockey team. I felt really proud to be from this country and be a part of that experience.

While I do live here in Vancouver, I realize that there is so much I have yet to experience. Sometimes living here has made me take for granted how beautiful and vibrant this city is. I can’t wait to meet all of you and become a tourist myself in this city with all the activities coming up. I would love to get to know all of you and listen to all the adventures you have been on, so please do not hesitate to leave a comment or find me at an upcoming event!

Cheers,

Queenie
