What to Do in Vancouver on a rainy day

Why is our beautiful Vancouver also called Raincouver?
Of course it is because there are many rainy days during the rainy season (most rainy between October to March). However, that doesn’t mean there’s not much to do on these days. I’ve compiled some inspirations of fun things to do in Vancouver on a rainy day.

First start with a trip to Gastown on a rainy day. Isn’t it cosy choosing one of the cute little cafes to have a great chat with friends while drinking hot chocolate and watching the rain running down the windows. As I mentioned in one of the previous blogposts; I can highly recommend trying the nutella latte 😉 In the evening it’s also a nice place to drink and eat your way through the many restaurants and bars. Maybe it would be cool to go bowling, play pool, or sing your favourite songs at a karaoke bar afterwards?
Yaletown about 20 minutes walk south of Gastown also has a lot of nice cafes and restaurants and even a billiards room.

Shopping. What’s the first thing that comes to your mind when thinking of a great indoor activity? For me it’s definitely shopping 😉 Besides the many stores on Robson street the malls such as Pacific centre or Hudson Mall are also worth a visit. If you want to head to Vancouver’s shopping HQ you may want to think about taking a Skytrain to Metropolis at Metrotown (it’s in Burnaby about 20 mins from downtown). Maybe you can spot a great offer and brighten your rainy day 😉

A rainy day is definitely a day for all our museum and culture lovers. Learn about human ancestors at the Museum of Anthropology or have a look at interesting work from famous painters at Vancouver Art Gallery. Of course there are many more places to explore like the Vancouver Maritime Museum or the Police Museum.
Also our sports enthusiasts will find their proper place with a visit at BC Sports Hall of Fame.
I’m curious about your experiences after you’ve visited one of these places.

Skiing. In the first moment this might sound a bit weird because nobody wants to be on a ski slope in the rain, i guess. But maybe it’s a good way to escape the rain. While going on top of the mountain you will also go above the clouds which means no rain anymore; there’s still the possibility having a snowy day but I think that’s ideal for skiing.

Watch hockey. Since the hockey season as well as the rainy season starts in October this is definitely a good coincidence to go watch a hockey match on a rainy day. For more tips about how hockey works and further information for the upcoming season you have to be patient.
As a hint i can say; have a look at the blogposts next week.

If you still want to stay outdoors you can just buy a cute umbrella and rubber boots and go for a walk. It certainly won’t be as crowded as usual.

Have great Weekend 🙂

What to do on the Weekend

As this weekend the weather might not be as nice as in the past weekends, you might want to consider doing some indoor activities for once.
Olympia.jpg
On Sunday it’s time to go out with the INTERNeX crew once again! And this week, we’ll visit a place, representing one of the most outstanding events in Canada in the last years. The Olympic games in 2010.
Especially here in British Columbia people are very proud of hosting this special occasion and since we are living here it might be very interesting to gather some knowledge about it. Or do you already know who Miga, Quaschi and Sumi are?! No? Let me help you out here. Those are the three mascots of the 2010 games, everyone representing a special animal living in BC and therefore giving attention to those very special species.
And just besides those general facts, I am pretty sure most of you haven’t taken part in any olympic games so far, no offence! So this is the best part about this weekends event! The Olympic Experience provides simulators of different sports, where you can actually try out how it feels to do Ski-jumping or even bobsleigh races and many more! Make sure to get your ticket before the time. The Link for the tickets is to be found in the regarding Facebook event. If you don’t have Facebook, feel free to reach out to us!
Obviously there will be enough stuff to do on the rest of the weekend as well!
If you want to be very spontaneous you might still join Justin Timberlake concert today at the Rogers Arena. Tickets are still on sale and available for about $50.
For those of you, who already want to start their Christmas Shopping, might want to take a look at the Christmas Craft Fair happening on Saturday, November 16. Taking place at the South Arm Community Centre in Richmond. Especially since the INTERNeX Christmas Party is coming up, including a secret Santa, this might be a good shot to get your present sorted out already.
I hope you are having a great weekend and see you on Sunday!
Cheers,

What to do on the weekend?

Today is Friday, which means it’s almost weekend again! And guess what? It’s supposed to be another rainy weekend in Vancouver. Luckily, there are plenty of activities that can be done indoors. So, here are my suggestions for the weekend.

Listen up hockey fans: the Stanley Cup is on. There is a total of 8 games to watch during the upcoming two days. Four on Saturday and four on Sunday. But where? Well, you could go to one of the many pubs that are screening the games, for example the Lamplighter or Malone’s. Or you could invite your friends to your place, have cold beer and chips ready and watch it on TV or on your computer via cbc.ca.

For those that would like to enjoy some nature, but do not want to be outside in the rain: no worries! There’s a solution for that problem too. The Bloedel Conservatory is then the place to be. Within the dome, you can find three different climatic zones: Tropical, Subtropical and Desert. In total, you can find more than 120 free-flying exotic birds and more than 500 exotic plants and flowers. Enjoy the warmth and the beautiful nature on both days (and any other day of the week) from 10am until 5pm. The entrance fee is $6.50 only (tax not included).

And for the tough cookies of you that want to be outside no matter what: The Spring Lights Illumination is taking place in the Queen Elizabeth Park on Saturday evening only! Many projections and a walkthrough experience are awaiting you from 8pm until 10pm. The best part: the entrance is free!

Enjoy your rainy weekend and I hope to see many of your faces at the Rogers Arena Tour on Sunday! If you didn’t sign up, but would still like to join, just meet us at 1pm in front of the Canucks Team store which is located at gate 6! See y’all!

What to do on the weekend?

Sadly, the rainy season has been slowly creeping up on us these last few days and the weekend doesn’t look too bright either.
That won’t stop us from having some fun though!

On Sunday we’ll be meeting for a special kind of dinner at Pizzeria Ludica. What’s so special about a pizzeria you may ask? Well, you can play games while eating. To be exact we’ll be playing board games chosen from a collection of over 600!
So yea, we’re going to have a crazy game night while happily stuffing our faces with delicious pizza. What more do you need?

Reservations are made for 6:00pm. If you’re joining please don’t be late. You can find the Restaurant at 189 Keefer Place.

See you there!

Smart Saver Vancouver

You all know that Yoga isn’t that cheapest activity to do but we found a free Yoga course every Monday. It’s called Sitka Vancouver and it’s located on West 4th (1864 West 4th Ave.) in Kitsilano. They offers free yoga classes every Monday evening from 7:30-8:30pm. Just bring your own mat and than you can start to stretch along with professional yoga teachers for free. The classes are open to anyone. So if the next Monday is a rainy day you should check the free yoga classes out.

Have fun at your free yoga class.

PS: we will have a PuB NiGHT on Tuesday the 15th of April!
