Another Friday has come around and I would love to let you know the exciting things we have happening here at INTERNeX.

As you might have seen on our Facebook page that the weather wasn’t really in our hands this week so we have had to have a few changes but don’t worry!! Ice Skating on Robson – Square will be happening on Sunday, another great way to enjoy winter in Vancouver. Saturday predicts some showers but Sunday looks like it may just be overcast (what more to expect from winter in the beautiful Canada ahah).

For those looking forward to Skiing, it has been rescheduled to 14th of December.

As one of my first weekend events I’m very excited to spend it Ice Skating with the christmasy atmosphere of beautiful Vancouver. In Australia it is about 31 degrees at the moment and yes, we do spend out Christmas day in our bikinis. This is my second Christmas in the winter and I love it. I hope you all share the same excitement as me and will hold my hand as we have a romantic time trying not to fall over.

However that’s not all that happening for me over the weekend, I will be checking out the Christmas markets if you would also like to check them out they are open from 11:30AM to 9:30PM so I will most likely be filling up on egg nog (a new discovery of mine that I have fallen in love with). A bit of history around it, its the 10th annual authentic German-inspired Christmas Markets where there will be traditional food and beverages, live entertainment and the opportunity to ride downtown Vancouver’s only Christmas Carousel. Don’t forget to buy your tickets online (adult is $12.99, Youth is $6.99).

If you are looking for a bit more of a romantic evening then I would suggest Stanley park, since Bright Nights has been available for the public. If you love Christmas lights then you will not be disappointed if you go.

Wishing you all the best for the weekend and make the most of it 🙂

xoxo

What to do on the weekend?

*knock knock* Who is there? Weekend! Yes, that’s right! I am trapped in the office today, because weekend is at the doorstep. But I am always glad when it’s here! And then, the well-known question comes in my mind: What to do on the weekend?

20171228_183415

We made is easy for you to start your weekend a good way. We are going ice-skating at Robson Square. Let’s have some fun with our ice skates on. When ice time is over, it’s time for some line dancing and bull riding. We will heading to the Yale Saloon and be cowboys and –girls for a night.

This weekend is also the Dine Out Vancouver Festival. Hundreds of restaurants have special deals for you. All 3-course menus range in price from $20 to $40 dollars. Check if you restaurant is also participating in this festival on their site.

If you have enough of the cold and you just want to warm up, go crab a hot chocolate at the Hot Chocolate Festival. Also at this festival a lot of restaurants participate. Go in and see what special hot chocolate creations they have for you.

Don’t regret anything you didn’t do. Enjoy your weekend to the fullest and have lots of fun. I hope to see each of you at the Ice Skate Rink tonight!

CelticFest – Experience IT Review

On Saturday we went to CelticFest at Robson square. It was great to see you even though a lot of you celebrated St. Patrick’s Day the night before. Thank you for coming!

During CelticFest we were celebrating the Irish national holiday St. Patrick’s Day. On this day, the Irish commemorate the holy Sint-Patricius. However, a lot of Irish people just see it as a day to celebrate being Irish and as a reason to drink. One of the activities organised during the week of St. Patrick’s Day is CelticFest. CelticFest is an annual festival being held throughout the city of Vancouver. There were several activities organised throughout the week. Some of these activities were free of charge, such as the parade and the CelticFest activities at Robson square.

We were really lucky with the weather. Saturday was a sunny day and therefore it was really nice to hang out at the CelticFest. At first we walked around and passed some small stands with green and Irish clothing. After that we watched a band playing some typical Irish music. Besides that we also watched an Irish dan17431010_10202849062023362_2021569902_oce performance at the Beer garden and at the Robson square. As the weather was so nice, we decided to go to Canada Place to watch the view. Then we went to Tap&Barrel and enjoyed some drinks, nachos and hummus. We also could not resist the free nacho refills. When we finally filled our stomachs, we finished our day with watching the seaplanes take off.

I hope you enjoyed the great weather this weekend! See you on PuB NiGHT!

What to do on the weekend

Now that it finally stopped snowing, there is no reason to stay inside anymore. This time some of us even got an extra day of weekend, as Monday is Family Day. So get outside and get the most out your extra long weekend!

First of all, there is 24 hours of Winter on Grouse Mountain this weekend. It starts at Saturday and continues till Sunday. During this event you can ski during the day and night together with the INTERNeX family. It will be a totally different experience with skiing for sure! However, there are also a lot of other events such as the Light Walk, snowshoeing and ziplining. Some of us are going to do the Light Walk instead, so if you are not feeling like skiing this weekend, you should definitely join us on the Light Walk.

You don’t feel like seeing any snow after this week? We definitely get that as well! Instead of the 24 hours of Winter, you can also go ice skating at Robson Square for free or $4 if you have to rent some skates. You are able to do this from Friday till Monday. Is ice still too cold for you? Then check out the Second-hand Book Sale at Nikkel National Museum & Cultural Centre in Burnaby between noon and 4 pm.

After all that cold, you should definitely get a hot chocolate during the Hot Chocolate Festival. There are lots of hot chocolates specials throughout Vancouver the whole weekend long. Furthermore, Saturday is the first day of the International Wine Festival in Vancouver. The International Wine Festival contains a lot of events such as auctions, dinners and tastings. After a long week, this may be the perfect way for you to prepare you for next week again. However, if you do not have time for the International Wine Festival this weekend, you can still check it out till the 19th of February.

On Family Day there are also a lot of events such as Family Day at Grouse Mountain and Skiing at Manning Park. At Family Day at Grouse Mountain you get 50% off from the admission to the mountain and at Skiing at Manning Park you also get 50% off on ski and trail tickets. This is a cheap way for you to get active and make the best out of your stay!

Have a great weekend and see you on Grouse Mountain!

Smart Saver

It’ Sunday and it’s time for Smart Saver. Here are a couple of tips for how to get through your week without having to spend a whole lot of money. But of course you also want to enjoy life. no problem. Check out these suggestions.

Check out some of the most delicious burgers, waffles and doughnuts in town for prices that you won’t believe. Everything for the price of just $5 or less! Let me give you an example. At 1391 East 41st Avenue you’ll find Duffin’s Doughnuts. This place is open 24/7, and is selling burgers and of course doughnuts for under $5… fantastic! Check out a longer list of different places to go for cheap eats here. If you’re not so much into burgers, waffles and doughnuts then have a look at Ninja Bubble Tea. This is the place to go if you want to get yourself a nice bubble tea for a reasonable price. Bring a student card and you’ll save extra money. The Ninja Bubble Tea store is located at1696 Robson Street.

After a filling yourself with delicious doughnut you probably want to get a bit of exercise 😉 No need to worry. You don’t have to pay a fortune for this. Just go to Robson Square where the public ice rink is now open. It’s for free if you bring your own skates but you won’t have to pay more than $4 for skate rentals. Check out this site for more information.

Finally you can finish off a great and cheap week by taking advantage of free wellness workshops at Polo Health + Longevity Centre on Saturday, December 13, from 10am till 2pm. This will be your perfect mini workshop that will teach you the basics in how to live a healthy life. This wellness centre is located in New Westminster, but remember that you can go through all zones on a one-zone bus ticket during weekends. Have a look at this site to get more info and to view the precise location of Polo Health + Longevity Centre.

Enjoy your week!
