Smart Saver Vancouver

Today we are going to talk about money, or rather, how to save it. I always like to go shopping here since there are so many stores I don’t have at home. Since it is already mid-June the sales start in fashionland and therefore it is the best time to renew your summer wardrobe.

One of my favourites here is Victoria Secret, especially because this store is so huge and has a lot of options. The best time to go there is now, as soon as you can, since their semi-annual sale already started. Sometimes I am really disappointed by sales because they only take off 20%. It doesn’t really make me jump. Victoria Secret really goes the next level with sales of 50% and up. Besides that they also throw in daily specials on top of that, like bralettes for 5 dollars each. If you want to be up to date with their sales and deals, the best thing to do is sign up for their e-mails. Throughout the year they also have great deals, like a free tote with your purchase over 50 CAD. The semi-annual sale can be hectic though, since they put everything in boxes and women almost fight over pieces. If you don’t want to be part of this jungle, you can also easily shop online, where the semi-annual sale is featured too.

A second store with a semi-annual sale men can also provide from; Bath & Body Works. This store has, in my opinion, some of the best body care, hand soaps and fragrances there is. An unfortunate fact is that you can’t really buy this brand in Europe, except for Italy, Poland, Russia and Turkey.  These places are not around the corner for me, so I will buy in big and the best time to do that is now. Bath & Body Works also has his semi-annual sale now with deals up to 75% off. Besides that they always have good combo-deals throughout the year, like buy 3 products and get 2 products for free.

Last but not least: Urban Outfitters. This store has many brands featured besides their own clothing line so there is something for everybody. At the moment they also have a sale going on up to 50% for now, but this changes continuously so keep your eyes open. Besides that the store on Granville Street always has a sale corner where you can find some cheap treasures.

These are just a small grip off all the store sales that are going on at the moment, so if you want your wardrobe updated, get on Granville or Robson Street or go to Metrotown to shop the latest sale items and save some money!

I hope to see you all tonight at the Lamplighter, playing bourbon bingo like fanatics and celebrate Janels last days in Vancouver.

Smart Saver

Heeey everybody!! It’s time for Smart Saver, and as you know that means saving money. But of course you don’t won’t to spend too much time looking for good deals. We’ll get you started.

Very soon the winter is here, and winter means snow. Well, usually not so much in snow in downtown Vancouver but there’s several other good mountain resorts in British Columbia. Check out Silver Star Holidays for a pretty nice deal that includes Free Skiing, as long as you book your accommodation through Silver Star Holidays. Click here to check out the location of the Silver Star Resort. Extend your weekend and go together with a group of friends to get the best deals. Of course you don’t necessarily have to travel far away from Vancouver to experience the great powder. It shouldn’t be long before you’ll be able to do some skiing on Grouse Mountain. Here you can ski a full day for just $58.

… Or maybe you just want to get some nice food. Luckily you don’t have to search for long to find delicious and affordable food in Vancouver. Check out some of the very nice Korean places on Robson Street or Denman Street. Try out hot pots, chicken and pork soups and much more for prices of just $10-$12. Check out all the nice food here.

Have a nice week, and get out there and save some money!

Review: Vancouver Pride Parade

Sunday, August 3rd, it was time for the Vancouver Pride Parade. The parade is a celebration of the rights of the LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual and queer) community. We meet up at a bus stop not far away from Burrard Station, and then walked to see the parade.

The parade went on for 3 hours. Stretching from Robson Street to Sunset Beach, there was an endless number of caravans decorated for the special occasion. Also a lot of people were dressed up in colourful costumes. At the sidewalks hundreds of thousands of spectators were gathered to watch this crazy but amazing show unfold. It was impossible not to get in a good mood when standing in the crowd of spectators. Everybody was cheering, especially when some of the big caravans were passing by shooting lots of confetti all over.

It was amazing to see this parade being represented by everything from university students and nurses to the Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services and the Vancouver Police Department. Of course the parade also offered a great opportunity for different companies for a bit of advertisement. However, most of the participants in the parade were making a great deal of their costumes and the decoration of their cars and caravans. However, the celebrations didn’t finish with the end of the parade, and the festivities continued at Sunset Beach.
