What to do on the weekend?

It might not be the best weather today, but the weekend is starting today, so at least some good news, right?! And it gets even better, because it’s going to be a long weekend. Here are some ideas, as to what you could do this weekend.

Monday is Victoria Day, which celebrates the birthday of Queen Victoria. Who is Queen Victoria you might ask? She was the Queen of England and head of the British Empire when Canada became an independent country.

On Saturday, we are going to go bike riding in Stanley Park. We will meet at 12 pm at Yes Cycle at 687 Denman St. The first hour for the rental of the bikes will be $8 and the second one $7. So join us and explore Stanley Park.

For all of you who enjoy the Yale, I have an interesting tip for you. This weekend, from the 17 to 20 May is the Cloverdale Rodeo and Country Fair in Surrey. It is one of North’s Americas longest running Rodeos, with additional entertainment and food. Tickets are $10 and up.

market

On Saturday and Sunday is the Vancouver Comic Arts Festival. The event features an exhibition and a vendor fair with hundreds of creators from around the world. There will also be readings, panels and workshops. The festival will be held at the Roundhouse Community Arts & Recreation Center from 10 am to 5 pm. Admission is free.

If you’re in the mood for a bit of shopping and want to find some unique things, it might be worth checking out the Eastside Flea Market on Saturday or Sunday. This is not your average flea market. You will be able to find vintage clothing, quality handcrafted items, jewellery, natural locally-made body care, art, vinyl records, food and many more interesting items. There will be over 50 vendors, so there will be plenty to see. Admission is $3.

Have a wonderful weekend!

PuB NiGHT Review: The Mahony and Sons

What’s up peeps! It is a beautiful day here in Vancouver and it is time to try remembering what happened last night at our PuB NiGHT. In few words: it was a long night with a lot of people.

img_20190327_205948.jpg

Night started at a pub called Mahoney and Sons. It is located at False Greek, at Stamps Landing and the view across the water to downtown is so beautiful. There was almost 25 people altogether and our tables were getting crowded. I was glad to see so many new faces at the pub night and everyone were making some new friends once again. We also joined the trivia night, a bit late tho, but it did not really matter since we were not that good at knowing the answers. We did got couple of them right!

We also had a reason to celebrate yesterday since it was Sara’s birthday! The waiters brought a piece of cake and ice cream for her and we also bought her the most disgusting shots the bar has to offer. You can guess which part of the present she appreciated more. Once more, Happy Birthday Sara!

Surprise surprise the night continued after Mahony and Sons. Some of us felt like the night was not over and we headed to a country club called the Yale. It was a pretty quiet last night but we didn’t mind. We had our own gang to create a party with. It was nice to play some pool because usually the club is so crowded that you don’t really have a chance to do that. I also tried riding the rodeo bull they have at the club and lets just say that I really need some more practice with that.

Big thanks to everyone who showed up, I had a great time with all of you!

On Sunday we are going to have a fun night playing laser tag. Remember to check the Facebook event for more details.

INTERNeX Ranch Stay program

Have you have ever thought about living on a Ranch or a farm for a while? Yes?! Then our Ranch stay problem is the perfect change to experience the Ranch lifestyle here in Canada.

If you like the country life, cattles, tractors and the work with horses than our INTERNeX Ranch Stay program is the right choice for you.

While working on the Ranch you will be staying with a local Canadian family. The farms are quite far from huge cities and you can experience the real countryside and the quiet and very relaxed atmosphere while staying on the Ranch.
The INTERNeX Ranch stay program gives you the perfect opportunity to learn something about the real Canadian community while working, living and eating with a great local Canadian family.
After some time on the Ranch you will figure out that Canadians are living a much more relaxed life than people from Europe or anywhere else. Everybody is just so friendly and accommodation.

While working on a Ranch you totally get involved into the everyday family life and become part of the family.
The great thing is that you can use all the facilities a farm has to offer. That means that you can drive a tractor, which already is a great experience. You can also go horseback riding pretty much every day if you want to.
You won’t be isolated on the farm because the horst family is taking you on great weekend trips, on trips to your neighbors and to special events like rodeos and community festivals, which are always great fun.

In case you are interested in our INTERNeX Ranch Stay program or also other INTERNeX programs visit our homepage for more information.

Cloverdale Rodeo – Yeeehaw!

If anyone told me that I’d be watching grown men ride wild bulls in Vancouver, I wouldn’t have believed them. Little did I know though, that I would soon be having a great time at the annual Cloverdale Rodeo.

Yesterday I drove to Surrey with a friend to watch the second largest community rodeo in Canada. This rodeo attracts competitors and spectators worldwide, with many of the participants hailing from Alberta. This traditional exhibition brings agricultural and horticultural exhibits, including arts and crafts, home baking and canning, needle work, photography, sewing and flori-culture to the already, fun-filled long weekend. The exhibition, along with a wide assortment of family activities, truly makes the Cloverdale Rodeo & Exhibition “much more than just a rodeo”.

The Cloverdale Rodeo is well known for its bull riding, world-class cowboys and enthusiastic rodeo fans, but it’s also famous for its party scene. At the Rodeo, the party starts before noon and doesn’t stop until well after sundown. Known throughout the rodeo world, the Cloverdale Rodeo & Country Fair’s Longhorn Saloon, featured live music from May 20th until yesterday. To open up the festivities,  Canadian Rock Legend 54-40 kicked-off with a great performance.

Yesterday was the finals, with prizes as much as $50,000! For that much money, heck – even I would hop on the back of a bucking horse! Check out some of my pictures below!

Keep checking back for more exciting events like this one happening in your area!

For those of you in Vancouver, don’t forget about the INTERNeX BBQ Kick-off event happening May 29! Also make sure to sign-up for the 2-Day Whistler trip leaving June 19-20! Limited amount of space available!

Have a great long weekend everyone, and I’ll see you at INTERNeX PuB NiGHT at Malone’s Bar and Grill, May 26!

Cheers,

Laura
