INTERNeX Canada: Casual Friday Good purposes for the New Year

New Year, new life… that’s what people say!  This time of the year is the perfect time to plan some changes, to think about what you want to do next, to make some good purposes for the future…What are yours?

1) Almost everyone wants to become healthier, do more sport, and eat better…  Of course! We all want to look hot but the problem is that work out and veggies are not that “fun” as fast food and TV

2) Save money. We all want to have a lot of money in our accounts…but it’s so difficult to say no   to a beautiful dress, to some drinks with friends…oh expensive good life!

3) Traveling… I can do that! Yes for sure! I prefer this one that the previous one!

4) Be a better person, help the other… There is nothing bad is this purpose!

5) Quit smoking, or stop drinking coffee or any kind of vice! Similar to number 1, easy to say difficult to do… but at least try!

6) Get a job or a better job…Mm for sure! We need to keep optimist and try, fail, try, fail, try and get!

7) Be in love! Probably the most difficult one! It’s a risk, but if you don’t try you don’t win!

Ok now it’s time to write down your personal purposes! Sometimes is not easy to get them but the only way to change your life and improve yourself is having dreams and goals, so even it’s just a classic, I will keep doing my own personal purposes for New Year!

Enjoy your day,

Cheers,

Irene

INTERNeX Canada: Smart Saver Vancouver – Boxing Day Shopping

Much like Black Friday in the United States, boxing Day is the day of sales and shopping for Canada and other Commonwealth nations. It occurs annually following Christmas Day on December 26th and is a public holiday in Canada.

Boxing Day began as a tradition of masters giving gifts to their servants and tradesmen receiving gifts. The days leading up to Christmas is to gift shop for your family and friends, but on boxing day, you are supposed to shop for yourselves!

Generally, the best deals will be only available on Boxing Day, but since shops are trying to get rid of their stock from their current season, boxing day has now become boxing week and sometimes even into January.

Again, there are a lot of people who go crazy and line up the night outside the mall or the store before just so they can have the chance to grab the “door crashers” which are special items on sale that are in limited supply, before they are all gone.

If you go to any mall or stores next Wednesday, there are bound to be tons of people and great prices for everything, but here are some websites with deals to check out if you want something specific:

Happy bargain hunting!

Cheers,

Queenie

INTERNeX Canada: Smart Saver Vancouver- Where and what to buy in Downtown

Our student´s budget are not that big and I am pretty sure that we all prefer to spend our money enjoying Vancouver that buying in the Supermarket.

That´s why I think is important to know the cheapest places and the correct ones to buy the differents products!

One of the most affordable supermarkets in general in town is No Frills. The price of the same products can be around one dollar less than in other supermarkets, and they have always specials deals every week! There are different locations; you can find one in downtown in Denman Street.

Another good option if you like chocolates, candies and snacks in general (I know what I am talking about…haha) is to buy them in Dollarama or that kind of discount shops! You can buy the same piece of chocolate for less than a dollar and for just 1.25$ you have so many items!

In Shoppers Drug Mart sometimes they have such a good deals! You can buy beauty products of popular brands that originally can cost 50 dollars for just 10…

And in general all the area around Chinatown is where you will find the better prices in Downtown!Like for example in the Sunrise market!

To sum up:

If you are a sweetie person, go to Dolarama, Dolar Store or that kind of shops to buy cheap chocolates bars.

If you are looking for good prices in general, visit the nearest No Frills supermarket!

If you need some nice products for your face, hair and in general beauty staff, keep an eye to Shopper and its special offers for limited time!

If you know where to buy you have the chance to save some money and spend it for example partying with us! It sounds great, isn´t it?

Cheers,

Irene

INTERNeX Canada: Smart Saver Vancouver – Halloween Costumes!

There are only 6 more days til’ Halloween, have you got your costume to wear to our Halloween party at The Blarney Stone yet? Don’t stress out, we’ve found some places you may want to visit for that last minute shopping. Best of all, they offer a wide range of costumes and costume supplies that are very affordable.

1. Value Villages or Thrift Stores

This is my first pick because Value Villages or thrift stores all have different items so you should try to go to as many stores as possible. You never know what you might find because the stores tend to get “new” previously owned clothes every day. Most of the used costumes look brand new because most people wear it just once and then give it away, and you will get it at a much cheaper price!

Value Village: 1820 East Hastings Street, Vancouver, BC (604) 254-4282
or 6415 Victoria Drive, Vancouver, BC 604-327-4434

2. Dressew Supply

This second option might not be so obvious, as it is usually a fabric store, but Dressew is definitely the place to go for that last minute costume. You might even be overwhelmed by the countless props, accessories, wigs and costumes to choose from. Since this is a fabric store, you can make a costume out of fabric if you are the creative type or add missing pieces to the costume you already have.

337 West Hastings Street, Vancouver, BC (604) 682-6196

3. Dollar Stores

Dollar Stores is the cheapest place and has the biggest selection for Halloween makeup and accessories. For that fake blood, glow-in-the-dark stuff and white and black makeup, this is the place to go.

Dollarama: 668 Seymour St Vancouver, BC (604) 662-7543
Your dollar store with more: 1067 Hamilton Street Vancouver, BC (604) 669-6031

To end off, here are some tips for costume shopping:

  • Set a budget and decide how much you want to spend on a costume.
  • Combine new and used items and things you already own.
  • Don’t just look at the costume department; you never know what you might find in parts of a store.
  • Bring a picture for inspiration so you won’t forget the details when shopping.

Happy last minute Halloween shopping!

Cheers,

Queenie
