PR-Team Adventures

As some of you might know, my boyfriend visited me for two weeks and on the last day we went on a little trip to Garibaldi Lake together with Merle, Tess and my boyfriend. I wanted to show him the great blue lakes without going to the Rockies and this trip was perfect for that.

As it is hard to reach Garibaldi Lake by public transport, we rented a car to get to the lake. We were really lucky, because some people probably cancelled their reservation and therefore we could get a more luxurious car. I already downloaded an offline map on Google Maps beforehand, so getting there was easy.

It was my first time driving a car in Canada, so I was happy to see that the way to Garibaldi Lake was mostly going straight. Driving up to the hiking trail already felt like a road trip, as you can see the beautiful views along the Sea to Sky highway. When we were almost at our final destination, we got confused with where we had to take the exit and therefore had to drive a long way till we could finally turn. After a while of searching, we got a spot right in front of the hiking trail and could immediately start our adventure.

The hike up to Garibaldi Lake is 9 kilometres long of which 6 kilometres were pretty steep. Therefore, the first 6 kilometres were much harder and we took way more breaks on this part of the hike. Both my boyfriend and I don’t have the greatest condition which made it a bit hard sometimes. On the way we spotted some chipmunks and we also passed two other beautiful lakes, Barrier lake and Lesser Garibaldi Lake. As I didn’t know that there were more lakes I thought that we finally reached Garibaldi Lake all the time. However, we still had to walk a bit more to finally reach Garibaldi Lake.

20431636_10209637698520251_6581499177034320845_nAt Garibaldi Lake we made sure that we conquered one of the picnic tables after making many pictures of the beautiful view. Here I could finally fill my stomach and relax till it was time to go back to the car again. The way back to the parking lot was way easier as you were mostly going down, which is why some people were even running down the hiking trail.

It is not strange that my legs were still hurting 2 days later, as it took us 5.5 hours to get to Garibaldi Lake and to get back to the car. It was definitely worth the pain and time though and I would surely recommend it to everyone who is visiting Canada.

I hope you all had a great weekend and I am looking forward to hearing all about it on PuB NiGHT!

Review: Whistler trip

IMG_1729This weekend we went on our monthly trip to Whistler! We met up at Tim Horton’s at 7:45 AM, which was super early so luckily we could get our breakfast and coffee there. Since we are a big group Tess could check us all in at the same time and we didn’t have to stand in line, so we could all sit next to each other which is always way more fun than being divided. The Sea to Sky Highway was truly a beautiful view and our tour guide Gabrielle told us a lot of things about our surroundings which was a great addition. We had a stop at Shannon Falls, a beautiful waterfall in Squamish where some Twilight scenes were filmed.

IMG_1816.JPGAfter the stop we continued our journey to Whistler and we arrived there around 10:45 AM. We got a walking tour around the village and our tour guide told us where we needed to be for each activity. After that everybody went their own way. Zack, Iris, Tess, Kristina, Larissa and I went for a little walk around a frozen river, where we had some adventures in the snow. We ended up losing Tess, Kristina and Larissa, so we were having a little photoshoot with the three of us. After that we decided to have lunch at The Furniture Warehouse, one of those amazing $5 dollar for a meal places, and apparently we all had the same thought, because everyone had lunch there apart from each other.

17572128_1596970726997289_1157462316_oAfter lunch we went to The Brewhouse, where we had a hot drink in front of the fireplace. Then Zack went off to have fun at the tube park and Iris and I went to go bungee jumping. It’s was so scary but also the most exciting thing we’ve ever done. Sarah, Merle, Sol, Pablo and Niclas went for ziplining and they had a great time too. They even got to rent a GoPro and took some amazing shots. Tess, Kristina and Larissa decided to go to the Ice Bar for a vodka tasting where they were put in $1.500 jackets to survive the cold. They weren’t allowed to lick the walls because their tongues would get stuck on there, which disappointed them a little. But luckily you can actually taste the real flavour of vodka in -32˚, so they got a whole new experience as well.

After all the activities it was time to get on the bus back to Vancouver and everybody got to exchange their stories. We had a lot of fun and judging by your stories you did too, so thank you all for joining us!

INTERNeX Canada: Whistle Weekend Review

After the last weekend we can look back to an amazing Whistler trip! We had so much fun in these two action-packed days! Exciting hikes to lakes and a suspension bridge, fascinating bike rides with gripping lake views, thrilling ziplines and literally breathtaking bungee jumps!

We started off on Friday and our bus ride was filled with the foggy and mysterious-looking landscapes of the famous Sea-to-Sky Highway. In Whistler we checked in the HI hostel and were happy to discover our rooms to be in a private unit with bathroom facilities – just for our group! Friday night we enjoyed the nightlife of Whistler Village: we went for pizza, had drinks and watched sport highlights of the day in a pub, danced the night away in a club where a fire breathing bartender entertained us even more.

Our Saturday trip started with a hike to Lost Lake that actually was quite easy to find :-). Later, some of us rented bikes to continue a sunny tour around the beautiful Whistler lakes. Others had probably the most thrilling experience of their lives: we jumped from a 50m high bridge over the Cheakamus River! A moment that will stick with us forever. In the evening rain took over in Whistler, so we stayed in the hostel and had a tasty dinner with hamburgers and salad. A spacious and fully equipped kitchen was perfect to prepare food for the whole group and was a lot of fun for us all! It was a relaxed evening at HI Whistler: we hung out in the comfy chairs of the hostel’s common area and used the TV room with the huge screen for a movie night!

The hostel also provides a convenient dining room and café for breakfast, which was amazing for an early Sunday morning. We began our day with a hike starting right next to the hostel and discovered a suspension bridge on our way! Some of us went for another adrenaline shot and zip lined high up the Blackcomb Mountain. To end our perfect Whistler experience we took the Peak2Peak Gondola to see the graceful mountains expand in front of us and, once on the top, we spotted the famous Inukshuk Olympic symbol! It was a spectacular view!

Thank you everybody for joining this amazing trip and making it an unforgettable experience!

Cheers,

Xenia
