Smartsaver Vancouver

Summer is finally here! During summer time there is a lot to do around Vancouver and there are some good cheap options for that! So to get your summer started here are some ideas.

From July 4th till August 22nd you can watch an outdoor movie for free on Second Beach. They are a part of the Evo Summer Cinema series and all you have to do is bring your own chair or blanket, or just sit on the grass if you don’t mind! You can download the free Outdoor Movies BC App to see the schedule!

They also show outdoor movies in Burnaby, North Vancouver and at Canada Place. Burnaby shows movies on Sundays from July 9th till August 27th. The dates for North Vancouver differ, so make sure to look that up if you decide to go. Every Thursday night there will be a movie at Canada Place from July 27th till August 31st. All of these movies are free to watch!

If you would like to become a little more active this summer you can take Zumba classes at Canada place. Every Monday from July 24th till August 28th you can join the free Zumba class! Or hike the Grouse Grind to see the beautiful view from the top of the mountain. If you hike up, you only have to pay $10 to take the Gondola back down.

If it becomes too warm to do something active you can always cool down in the Kitsilano pool. The pool is located at Kitsilano Beach and the admission is only $5.86!

You might have been thinking about doing a boat tour around Vancouver, but these can be quite expensive, so a great alternative to that is taking the Aquataxi. The Aquataxi will take you around downtown, but it’s only around $6!

And let’s not forget that all the beaches around Vancouver are free and a perfect place to spend a lazy day!

I hope to see you all tonight on PuB NiGHT!

What to do on the weekend

It’s almost weekend! The weather is supposed to be amazing and there are fun things to do. Here’s some inspiration to get you started!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

On Saturday we will go to the TD Vancouver Jazz Festival. The festival lasts for two weeks and there are events all around town. Fora lot of the events you do need tickets, but on Saturday there will be free concerts on Robson & Georgia. We will meet in front of the London Drugs on Georgia Street at 12 PM.

Another event that’s happening this weekend is the Dragon Boat Festival. This will take place on Saturday and Sunday with various locations all around False Creek. There will be boat races and free concerts.

On Sunday you can go to Greek day on Broadway. This is a street festival on Broadway from MacDonald to Blenheim with food and entertainment.

Or if you would rather take it easy you could always just go to one of the many beaches around Vancouver. You can go to English Bay, Second Beach, Third Beach, Sunset Beach, Kitsilano Beach, Jericho Beach, Spanish Banks or Wreck Beach if you don’t mind the optional clothing.

Just like every weekend this summer there’s the Richmond Night Market, Summer Illumination Night market and several Farmers markets on Saturday and Sunday.

I hope to see you all tomorrow at the Jazz Festival!

What to do on the weekend

It’s almost weekend! Here are some ideas on how to make your weekend great!

9712752916_eeb63073e6_o.jpgThis weekend it will be amazing weather again, so we decided to go to Jericho beach on Saturday.  Jericho beach has several picnic tables where we could eat our food, so you can take food with you for a nice picnic on the beach or just chill and enjoy the nice weather.

If you are into beer you could go to the opening night of the Vancouver Craft Beer Week at the Roundhouse on Friday night. There will be samples of beer (naturally), food trucks and live entertainment. A ticket for the event is $49 and includes 15 drink tickets.

You could also go to The Richmond Night Market. They opened on May 12th and will be open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night from 7 pm till October 9th. They sell a lot of food there, so make sure you go with an empty stomach! The admission is $3.75.

18721359_10209072326626307_1192880159_oWe will be having great weather for the whole weekend, so if you are not able to join us on Saturday then you can also go to one of Vancouver’s many beaches on Sunday. English Bay Beach, Second Beach, Sunset Beach and Kitsilano Beach tend to be a bit busy during days like these, so you might want to consider going to Third Beach or Jericho Beach if you like it a bit more quiet.

You could also use the good weather to go on a hike, but just be careful if the hike is fully in the sun and make sure you stay hydrated!

How was your weekend?

The weather this past weekend was just incredible! As if trying to prove itself the sun powered up and showed us the summer we will be missing from now on. So, to celebrate the end of summer we decided to have a BBQ which was most likely the last one of the year!

We all got together in Stanley Park right next to Second Beach. Everyone brought a little
something and the area on the grill quickly filled with lots of different kinds of meat and also some marinated potatoes.

Even though we were quite hungry we still had to wait for a bit but patience is a virtue, right? In the meanwhile, we chatted or played catch with the football and Frisbee we had brought along.
After only a short wait, the food was finally cooked and we could get started. It tasted amazing! However, we realized we should have done this a lot more often.
Because we had so much food the grill was constantly busy but eventually, around sundown, everyone was contentedly rubbing their stomach. And although it had been quite cloudy all day the clouds dispersed at the end and we were able to enjoy a beautiful sunset.

Thank you all for coming!

How was your weekend?

Did you guys enjoy this hot summer weekend? Well, the upcoming week won’t let you down either!

Past Saturday we decided to have a BBQ at Second Beach. First we chilled on the beach and took a dip into the ocean once it got too hot in the sun. Chris also brought a volleyball and Laura a Frisbee – they really wanted those bonus points and eternal honor!

Unfortunately, since it was pretty packed, we had to wait a while until we could finally snatch a picnic table at the park to get the BBQ going with our two disposable grills.
At first, we were a bit worried about being able to cook all the food everyone brought but we didn’t have to worry. Those grills worked wonderfully!

After eating, some stayed at the table to chat, others took another dive into the ocean while another group took the Frisbee to throw around. Eventually, the Frisbee broke into pieces but luckily we didn’t have to mourn its demise for long. More friends who had joined us during the evening had a replacement and the game of catch continued until there was hardly enough light left to see.

Shortly thereafter, we cleaned everything up and most went home. However, the rest went for another drink at the three brits.

We had a lots of fun this time around and there will definitely be many more BBQs to come.
Look forward to this summer!
