Review: Whistler trip

IMG_1729This weekend we went on our monthly trip to Whistler! We met up at Tim Horton’s at 7:45 AM, which was super early so luckily we could get our breakfast and coffee there. Since we are a big group Tess could check us all in at the same time and we didn’t have to stand in line, so we could all sit next to each other which is always way more fun than being divided. The Sea to Sky Highway was truly a beautiful view and our tour guide Gabrielle told us a lot of things about our surroundings which was a great addition. We had a stop at Shannon Falls, a beautiful waterfall in Squamish where some Twilight scenes were filmed.

IMG_1816.JPGAfter the stop we continued our journey to Whistler and we arrived there around 10:45 AM. We got a walking tour around the village and our tour guide told us where we needed to be for each activity. After that everybody went their own way. Zack, Iris, Tess, Kristina, Larissa and I went for a little walk around a frozen river, where we had some adventures in the snow. We ended up losing Tess, Kristina and Larissa, so we were having a little photoshoot with the three of us. After that we decided to have lunch at The Furniture Warehouse, one of those amazing $5 dollar for a meal places, and apparently we all had the same thought, because everyone had lunch there apart from each other.

17572128_1596970726997289_1157462316_oAfter lunch we went to The Brewhouse, where we had a hot drink in front of the fireplace. Then Zack went off to have fun at the tube park and Iris and I went to go bungee jumping. It’s was so scary but also the most exciting thing we’ve ever done. Sarah, Merle, Sol, Pablo and Niclas went for ziplining and they had a great time too. They even got to rent a GoPro and took some amazing shots. Tess, Kristina and Larissa decided to go to the Ice Bar for a vodka tasting where they were put in $1.500 jackets to survive the cold. They weren’t allowed to lick the walls because their tongues would get stuck on there, which disappointed them a little. But luckily you can actually taste the real flavour of vodka in -32˚, so they got a whole new experience as well.

After all the activities it was time to get on the bus back to Vancouver and everybody got to exchange their stories. We had a lot of fun and judging by your stories you did too, so thank you all for joining us!

Rockies tour guide: Add-ons

Since there are so many things to do in The Rockies, we wanted to give you a quick update on all the additional activities you can do during our tour! There is also a small update on the schedule.

Due to the warm weather in the Rockies we are going to the BC Wildlife Park in Kamloops instead of the sleigh ride. Wildlife can be dangerous in real life and therefore this is the perfect opportunity to get to know more about the wildlife of BC. You may even meet the Spirit Bear or one of the Bobcats during the Bobcat feeding. If you prefer to see other animals, you can also walk around the park on your own or take a ride on the miniature train. This activity is included in the program and therefore no additional cost, except for the miniature train. The miniature train ride is an additional $1, which needs to be paid in cash. After that you can get something to eat at the full-service café or get some souvenirs at the gift shop.

17454838_1678236365525141_1539661662_oThere is a lot to do during spring time and the Rockies are just as beautiful as they are during summer. As there will be some snow in the Rockies, you are able to go skiing, snowboarding, snow tubing or dog sledding. Skiing, snowboarding and snow tubing can be booked on the bus to the Rockies, so there is no need to decide on this matter beforehand. However, this is not the case when you would like to have lessons or if you choose to do dog sledding. These activities need to be booked beforehand.

If you have had enough of the snow then you can try out ice skating. Would you rather do more sightseeing? Then the Banff gondola might be a good fit for you. During this activity you will have an awesome view of all the mountains. Both of these activities can be booked on the bus. Another sightseeing activity is the ice walk. You are not actually walking on ice, as it is too fragile for that. However, you will pass several scenic areas where you will be able to see the true beauty of ice. This activity needs to be booked beforehand. If you have had enough of the cold, then the hot springs are perfect for you! It is a great opportunity to warm up and to relax before you go to work again.

The prices for additional activities are about:
Ice skating – $13
Banff Gondola – $50
Ski lift tickets – $95
Equipment rentals – $45
Ski or snowboard lesson package – $170
Snow tubing – $28
Ice walk – $68
Dog sledding (2 hrs) – $165 (min. of 3 people per sled is required)
Hot springs – $7

The Rockies trip is coming closer and closer and so is the deadline! You only have time to sign up and pay at the office or PuB NiGHT for the Rockies trip till the 30th of March. So make sure to sign up soon, because you really do not want to miss out on this trip. It is $359 and for INTERNeX candidates it is only $354. Unfortunately we can only take cash, so make sure to swing by the ATM beforehand. The price includes accommodation with breakfast, transport, entrance to a nightclub and the BC Wildlife Park. Please take into account that you can get a discount for some activities if you pay them beforehand and some of them require paying beforehand as well. You can find more information on the event page on Facebook.

INTERNeX Canada: The picture of the week

Recovering from last night yet? I hope you all had a blast at our Pub and Club Night last night and that you came out to party with us one last time! (Although this hopefully isn’t going to be the last time)

We went snow tubing at Mount Seymour last weekend and it was seriously so much fun. The weather was perfect and when you’re with a great group of people, you know you are going to have a great time no matter what you do. The best part of snow tubing, other than sliding down the hill, was the tube lift! I tried walking up the hill afterwards and I was dying. It might not look very steep from the top, but when you are half way up the endless hill, you wish you took the lift instead!

Want to join in on the fun? Come to our weekly Pub night this Wednesday and our Granville Island Brewery Tour next Saturday!

Cheers,

Queenie

INTERNeX Canada: How was your weekend? Snow tubing at Mt. Seymour!

The weather this past weekend was so nice and beautiful! It was definitely a change from the dark and rainy winter months, but of course it was still very cold.

And for those of you who went snow tubing with us at Mount Seymour last Saturday, you all know what I’m talking about! The sun was shining down on us and it was such a breath taking view on top of the mountain.

When we lined up to go snow tubing, my heart was pounding and I was dreading my turn. I thought to myself how I should’ve just stayed behind. But when I went down the hill, it was so much fun!  Everybody who came out with us definitely enjoyed themselves.  There were quite a few lanes that you could go down and I found it amusing how each one had its own name.  For example, one of them was called Fast Freddy and another one was known as KamiKaze.

Although the lineup was long and left us with limited amount of time, it was such an awesome day to be up at Seymour. If you didn’t want to wait in the huge line at the tubing lift area, you had to trek up an insane hill pulling your snow tube at the same time. I only walked up once, but I think everyone would agree that it was more worth it to just wait in that big line.

I couldn’t think of a better way than to end the already perfect day by watching the gorgeous sunset on the bus, driving down the mountain. Everybody had their cameras out (including me) and was all in awe.

For the rest of my weekend, I just spent it relaxing but I really needed it after such a busy week. I hope you all had a great time on the weekend and went outside to enjoy the beautiful weather in Vancouver.

Let’s all hangout again at the pub and club night at the Pint Friday January 25th! You should definitely come out to this event as it will be a farewell party for our two amazing PR interns Irene and Queenie.

Have another great week everyone!

Cheers,

Flora
