Rockies Trip: Song

“Music is the universal language of mankind”. So we went on a music hunt to find our INTERNeX GOES ROCKIES 2014 SONG.

We decided to go for a song from Avicii , Wake me up. We think it fits good in with the trip and what we are about to experience. So get ready to hear this song 24/7 for the easter weekend and learn the text by heart! If you can think of an even greater song, please let us know! (We prefer an older song as well, like Backstreet Boys, Spice Girls, etc). Oh and do not worry, you will hear a lot of the backstreet boys, spice girls and the rest of the ‘oldy gang’.

Feeling my way through the darkness
Guided by a beating heart
I can’t tell where the journey will end
But I know where to start
They tell me I’m too young to understand
They say I’m caught up in a dream
Well life will pass me by if I don’t open up my eyes
Well that’s fine by me

So wake me up when it’s all over
When I’m wiser and I’m older
All this time I was finding myself, and I
Didn’t know I was lost

So wake me up when it’s all over
When I’m wiser and I’m older
All this time I was finding myself, and I
Didn’t know I was lost

I tried carrying the weight of the world
But I only have two hands
Hope I get the chance to travel the world
But I don’t have any plans
Wish that I could stay forever this young
Not afraid to close my eyes
Life’s a game made for everyone
And love is a prize

So wake me up when it’s all over
When I’m wiser and I’m older
All this time I was finding myself, and I
Didn’t know I was lost

So wake me up when it’s all over
When I’m wiser and I’m older
All this time I was finding myself, and I
I didn’t know I was lost

I didn’t know I was lost
I didn’t know I was lost
I didn’t know I was lost
I didn’t know.

International Vancouver: Oppa Gangnam Style!

Canada is such a multicultural place, especially Vancouver. It is home to one of the biggest Asian communities! And this post is one of the reasons why I think Vancouver is such an international city. And before you all say something, I know this post is way overdue…but I’m still going through with it. For those of you who didn’t know, I was born in South Korea but moved to Vancouver when I was only seven.  And every time I meet someone new and after when they find out that I’m Korean,  immediately they start doing this – Op, op, op, Oppa Gangnam Style *dance moves*. Seriously? And after their horrible rendition of this song, they proceed to ask me what the song lyrics actually mean. It amazes me how viral the music video has gone yet so many people don’t know what the lyrics mean, well more like they don’t take the time to find out for themselves.

So read carefully…because I am about to explain what the song is about…for like the 50th time. Basically, Psy, the singer and creator of this song, talks about the lifestyle of Gangnam (a district in South Korea). He describes how the women in Gangnam act proper during the day time but become wild during the night. And Psy talks about about how he is the right kind of man for these ladies in Gangnam.

There, now you know a little bit more about the song and what Psy is talking about. Like I said, Vancouver is a city known for one of the largest Asian communities, but I think Koreans definitely stand out…due to the help from this famous song.

Isn’t it crazy how one video went so viral worldwide? It has reached over a billion views on Youtube!

Cheers,

Flora

INTERNeX Canada: PuB NiGHT @ Toby’s Pub & Grill

It’s always fun when the INTERNeX crew gets together but it’s even better when we can welcome many new faces to our little family over here in Vancouver! Last night, about 15 people came out for a great night on “The Drive”. We had chicken wings and beers and diet cokes 😉 and enjoyed the casual conversations but at one point, the group split up into the ones that “did it” and the ones that didn’t. You want to know what I’m talking about? KARAOKE!! As opposed to the recent Danish predominance, last night was very German and this might be a reason why it was the only nation representing INTERNeX on stage. Four brave girls started off with Bon Jovi’s “It’s my life” but only after it had taken them about an hour to find a song everyone knew and somehow agreed on. I was on stage myself so I probably shouldn’t judge but I am almost positive that this was one of the best acts of the night… 😉 The “Single ladies” performance by two single ladies who danced rather than sang was only topped by Sebastian’s highly interesting version of “Clocks”. Coldplay would have loved it for sure!! 😉 Still awesome he had the guts to step on stage all by himself and stick it out all the way through the high notes. Great job! It was especially great because last night was Sebastian’s last PuB NiGHT ever! We are sad he’s leaving us and he will definitely be missed as a friend and as a crucial element of almost every INTERNeX event in the last couple of months. Thanks for the good times, Sebastian! Take care and safe travels back to Germany!

So next time I want to see EVERYONE on stage though, okay? There’s always someone worse than you. 🙂 Fortunately, our upcoming events do not require any kind of talent whatsoever, so you should definitely join us!! There is going to be a scrumptious Thanksgiving Dinner on Monday, 8th and the Whistler Trip on Saturday and Sunday 13/14th. Make sure you sign up on facebook until tomorrow, Friday Oct  5th, 12:00 noon the latest! This is the very last call for both events!

Have a wonderful and sunny weekend!

Cheers

Marianne

Video Of The Week — WE ARE ALL CANUCKS!

It’s time for the video of the week and since we built up the tradition to show solely clips about the Canucks, the Stanley Cup, Vancouver and funny cover songs related to it, we want to stick to it for one last time…

Today, on a sunny Wednesday, June 15, the Vancouver Canucks will win the Stanley Cup 2011 for the first time in NHL history!

Why? Because they have the most awesome fans in the world! And of course because it’s a home match 😉 Next to that…They ROCK! It will be a nerve-wracking 7th and last match of the final! Everybody in the INTERNeX office is soooo excited about it!

So let’s cheer for our team from wherever you are, as loud as you can with all the positive energy that you have so the Canucks can hear every fan from every corner in Canada in the Rogers Arena!!

Let’s make them bring the gigantic trophy home on a wave of energetic, overwhelming fan love!

Even if you are not from Canada, just as me, remember that as long as you are here: WE ARE ALL CANUCKS! 😀

Go Canucks Go!

PuB NiGHT Cinqo de Mayo – Review!

Yesterday we had a real Mexican fiesta at the Blarney Stone – Cinqo de Mayo! The first part of the Mexican party was a bit more Canadian since we were watching the ice hockey game together! Of course the Canucks won, GO CANUCKS GO!!! After the game they cleared the dance floor, so people could dance on the typical Mexican music played by the Mexican Mariachi Band ‘’Los Dorados’’. One of our Mexican candidates requested a song and they only wanted to play it on one condition – that we had to dance!! So, many of our candidates got their ‘’Mexico on’’ on the dance floor! Arrrriiibaa!!

We were sitting on a really long table in the back of the Blarney Stone, because we were with so many people, which is absolutely awesome!! Everyone got a ticket from the PR-team to get a free tequila shot at the bar! We were having a really good time; enjoying the live music and having a nice chat with each other.  Once again, it was a successful PuB NiGHT! If you would like to see all the pictures that were taken last night, go to our Flickr account. 😀

Thanks for coming everyone and we hope to see you next PuB NiGHT again!!

Cheers,

Your PR-team
