How was your weekend?

Another eventful weekend is behind us, so let’s have a look at what we did the last few days.

On Saturday we went hiking at the Lynn Canyon Park. That’s a popular destination, located in the district of North Vancouver. We met at 12 o’clock at the Waterfront Station and took two busses to get to the Lynn Canyon Cafe. Unfortunately we missed the second bus, so the arrival took as a bit longer than expected.

However as soon as we got there, we started our little hike. At first we had to cross the famous Lynn Canyon Bridge. It’s quite the same as the Capilano Suspension Bridge, but you don’t have to pay for that. That’s why I would definitely recommend going there.IMG_0897The next stop was the 30 foot pool. Clear, blue water, surrounded by a lot of rocks and trees. The popular swimming hole would be a perfect spot for a refreshing swim during the summer months, but unfortunately it was a cloudy and cold day. Despite that a few brave guys dared to jump into the ice-cold water.IMG_0916

After one lunch break and another quick stop at the Twin Falls we finished our hike. So, workout for the weekend was done. 🙂

On Sunday, me and my fellow students Barbara and Franzi went to Seattle. It was only a one-day-trip but it was quite cool to visit the most famous spots of this city. On the pictures below you can see for example the Space Needle and the popular Pike Place Market. Even though Seattle is famous for being the rainiest city of the United States, we were lucky with the weather. It wasn’t raining during our stay. Yessss!

I hope you enjoyed the weekend as much as I did. Thanks to everyone who joined!

WHAT TO DO ON THE WEEKEND?

Here we go again! Unbelievable time flies so fast. Not only that the next weekend is right around the corner but also Christmas is approaching very fast and I’m done with my practicum in three weeks already . . . Anyways, any plans for the weekend?
Christmas Market season 8250708126_6331343ffa_oalready starts this weekend!!
For sure you shouldn’t miss the Vancouver Christmas Market where you can have typical German “Glühwein” and “Bratwurst’’. That one is located at Queen Elizabeth Theatre Plaza, West Georgia Street and Hamilton and transforms the heart of downtown into a festive wonderland for the holiday season.

Not every Christmas market in town is for free, so the Vancouver Christmas Market (admission: ~ $8) but the one in Yaletown is definitely for free! The Yaletown holiday festival, called CandyTown, is just once a year. This year, on November 21, a lot of street vendors will again sell their candies, waffles, Christmas presents and much more.
Additionally dressed up characters will participate in Christmas parades. Downtown Yaletown will be transformed into a winter/Christmas wonderland. If you’re not yet in the Christmas mood you’ll definitely have the chance to get into the mood at this market. The outdoor Christmas festival opens from 12pm to 7pm, local artisans and street performers will secure that you don’t getting bored.

On Sunday it’s time for us to go to Seattle just for a day. We are going with WestTrek, which means a lot of fun is guaranteed. Besides having fun we will do some sightseeing and of course you will also have some time to do some shopping. Possibly even buying some Christmas presents already since shopping in the States is much cheaper than in Vancouver. But it’s not all about shopping quite the contrary we are going to downtown Seattle and along the way we will stop at the Space Needle, which was designed as a futuristic spaceship in 1962. We will also go to the Pike Place Market! It’s one of the most visited places in Seattle because the seafood there is supposed to be amazing. This is also where the first Starbucks was built in 1971 and still exists!

To check our Seattle itinerary, please click here.

DEPARTURE is at 8:00am so make sure you are in front of the Waterfront Station 15 minutes prior (7:45am).

Have a nice weekend and see you on Sunday!

INTERNeX Canada: Seattle Trip Review

The Seattle Trip was in one word “amazing”. We had so much fun and so many memories have been made that will last us a lifetime. That is why next weekend we have a Seattle After Party to share all the stories and pictures of this amazing trip.

Friday we arrived in Seattle and after we got settled in the hostel we all went out for dinner at a diner called Hurricane Cafe. We had to wait a little while but the food was great.

On Saturday and Sunday everybody split up into groups and did their own activities. Some did the UNDERGROUND tour and were amazed by the experience. Others went to the flight museum, Pioneer Square, Gumball Wall, Shopping, Pike Public Market, Chocolate Factory, Cheesecake Factory and some went up into the Space Needle.

I for one went shopping and walked to Volunteer Park, which took us most of the day. We got into a Chinese museum for 50 cents, this was quite an experience. And I saw the view from the Water tower; it was so amazing it took my breath away. Furthermore others went to the HARDROCK Café, it was so much fun, they talked and listened to music. After their meal they even got a free cocktail glass.

All in all the weekend was unforgettable!!

Next weekend there is a Seattle After Party!!!

This is THE opportunity to share all our stories and show all the pictures.

Time: 4pm until 6pm

Where: INTERNeX office, Suite 200-211 Columbia Street, Vancouver.
