And the picture of the week is… Mercedes! Normally is very difficult get a picture from Mercedes… So we have to exploit this opportunity! This photo was taken in Richmond Go-Kart, when Mercedes found her own Kart… cute, it isn’t? Mercedes said that she pretended to return to Spain in the car… so funny! We love u Mercedes!

Kisses,

Clara.

INTERNeX Canada: Culture Shock !

Hey guys,

How are u? I hope u’re doing well !! Today I’m gonna talk a little bit about my personal experience here in Vancouver.

Let’s talk about one thing that shocked me about Canada: Tipping!

tips For Canadians, it’s really natural to tip whenever they get some kind of service, and I don’t know why. Why do they tip whenever if maybe the service was not as good as it should have been?

In Spain for example, we don’t usually tip. I don’t mean we never do it, but we just tip when the service is really good. We don’t feel bad if we don’t tip and the service won’t get mad at you because you don’t do it! Simple, right? (Also if you’re a student it’s obvious you can’t afford tipping everywhere and everytime)

By the way, they usually tip between the 10-20% of the price. Isn’t that hard to believe?

I think that’s just their way to be: nice and kind people!

I don’t know if you agree with me or not, but I think it would be easier if the tip and the taxes are included in the final price, so I would’t have to use my calculator everytime I go out for dinner for example.

What do you think about this guys?

Best,

Mercedes

INTERNeX Canada: Casual Friday “Happy Mother’s Day”

Mother’s Day is a celebration honoring mothers and motherhood all around the globe. Though is celebrated on different dates depending on the country, it’s for sure and special date for all of us!

Happy-Mother-Day-2012

In Canada, is one of the most popular festivals after Christmas and Valentine’s Day and is celebrated in the second Sunday of May (like most of the several countries around the world which celebrate this festivity). So this year, it’ll be celebrated the 12th of May!

In Spain, Portugal, South Africa, Lithuania, Hungary and Rumania for example, Mother’s Day is celebrated on the first Sunday of May, instead of the second one.

Although we don’t celebrate it exactly the same day (in many other countries is celebrated in an entirely different time of the year), the spirit is the same: we pay tribute to our mothers and thank them for their amazing constant support, unconditional love and their devotion.

Normally, cards and flowers are the most common gifts, but I think we should be creative and show our “personal” character on them.

For example, what about a small trip? Or a therapeutic massage? Sounds great eh? Of course it does, and I know our mothers will appreciate that!

Sometimes, I know mothers just want them us to be happy and just  a few words are more than enough. The most important issue is to demonstrate our love and support, like they do every time with us!

For all the world’s mothers: HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY !!

Best,

Mercedes

INTERNeX Canada: HiGHLiGHTS of this week!

Hey guys, how is your weekend going?

Here are some of the highlights for this week!

We started the week saying hi to our new PR Intern Clara, who came from Mérida (Spain).

She is a lovely and friendly girl and she loves good films, music and visiting museums and art galleries.

She went to his first pub on Wednesday, so a few of you got to know her!

Then on Wednesday, we went to the Lamplighter Public House for our pub night!!

It was lots  of fun while we watched the hockey match (Vancouver vs San Jose) and drank.

It was super awesome just getting to know the new members of our group as we all as catching up with everyone !!!!

I think it was a short week for all of us, but it was wonderful !! (And good weather…yayyyyyy!! )

I really hope you are enjoying this  weekend whatever you are doing.

Best,

Mercedes

INTERNeX Canada: Clara says “Whats Up?”

Hi guys!

My name is Clara Garcia, and I’m the new PR Intern. I’m an Advertising and Public Relation student. I’m from Mérida, a very beautiful city in the Southwestern part of Spain, with a large amount of old Roman monuments and famous for its ham, red wine and other delicious things.

The last four years I’ve lived in Madrid, so I love big cities and I know people from all around the world. About my hobbies, I’m very interested in good films, music and visiting museums and art galleries. I’m very outgoing and cheerful; I don’t like being alone for long periods of time, so I want to make friends as soon as I can!

Now that I’ve arrived at Vancouver I can say it’s a wonderful city! I was a little scared at the beginning, but Canadians are incredible kind with foreigners and there are cool shops and interesting places everywhere, especially in Downtown. One very curious place is the Steam Clock (as you can see in the photo).

Now I’m concentrated on improving my English and having a lot of experiences so please, don’t hesitate to add me on Facebook or ask me anything you want.

Hope to see you soon!

Clara.
