What to do on the weekend?

This weekend, we are all wearing green! It is St. Patrick’s Day and even if Ireland is a few kilometres away, this is a huge happening in Vancouver. Here are some ideas where to celebrate, but also how to avoid the green craziness.

St. Paddy’s Day, as the Irish call it themselves, will be celebrated in several places in the city. It doesn’t matter if you’re Irish or not, it is definitely going to be fun. The INTERNeX crew is going to drink some green beers with Vancouver’s students at the UBC. This party is nearly sold 5535679756_798fe4019e_nout, so be fast if you still want to join us.

Next to that, every Irish pub in Vancouver is hosting a green party. There will be a huge one at Blarney Stone, where we celebrated the kick-off of the festival past Saturday (some of you might remember that awesome night). You can spend your entire day there, from brunch in the morning to live music at night.

Another famous location for Saturday is ‘Doolin’s Irish Pub’ at Nelson Street. You can get breakfast from 10 o’ clock on and dance to live music throughout the day and night. So, get your green clothes out of your closet or buy some cheap accessories (Dollarama or Dollartree) and celebrate like the Irish.

Or does all this seem a bit too crazy and you are not in party mood this weekend? Then I have another idea for you: take a walk and take some beautiful photos. The Cherry Blossom Festival is starting right now. You can find many Whitcomb cherries that are blooming already. To find the best spots, you can take a look at this map. Just grab your camera and put on your walking shoes, there you go!

My outfit is ready and I am really looking forward to seeing you at the UBC party tomorrow! For the rest of you, have fun celebrating St. Paddy’s or enjoying the sun outside this weekend!

CelticFest – Experience IT Review

On Saturday we went to CelticFest at Robson square. It was great to see you even though a lot of you celebrated St. Patrick’s Day the night before. Thank you for coming!

During CelticFest we were celebrating the Irish national holiday St. Patrick’s Day. On this day, the Irish commemorate the holy Sint-Patricius. However, a lot of Irish people just see it as a day to celebrate being Irish and as a reason to drink. One of the activities organised during the week of St. Patrick’s Day is CelticFest. CelticFest is an annual festival being held throughout the city of Vancouver. There were several activities organised throughout the week. Some of these activities were free of charge, such as the parade and the CelticFest activities at Robson square.

We were really lucky with the weather. Saturday was a sunny day and therefore it was really nice to hang out at the CelticFest. At first we walked around and passed some small stands with green and Irish clothing. After that we watched a band playing some typical Irish music. Besides that we also watched an Irish dan17431010_10202849062023362_2021569902_oce performance at the Beer garden and at the Robson square. As the weather was so nice, we decided to go to Canada Place to watch the view. Then we went to Tap&Barrel and enjoyed some drinks, nachos and hummus. We also could not resist the free nacho refills. When we finally filled our stomachs, we finished our day with watching the seaplanes take off.

I hope you enjoyed the great weather this weekend! See you on PuB NiGHT!

What to do on the weekend?

It is Friday again which means we will provide some tips for the weekend again!

This is a special weekend since it is St. Patrick’s Day and there will be lots of pacelticfestrties! The day commemorates Saint Patrick and the arrival of Christianity in Ireland. Besides that it celebrates the heritage and culture of the Irish in general. Celebrations generally involve public parades and festivals, and especially doing that in green clothes! Many pubs in Vancouver will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and you can easily find information through Facebook events in the area. The INTERNeX PR-team will be at Caprice nightclub and at the Yale Saloon, so feel welcome to join us there!

When you are ready for another day after a big party tonight, then please join us at the Celticfest on Saturday. There are a lot of free activities on Robson Square as part of the CelticFest, so it would be fun to check it out with you! We will meet in front of Sport Check at 2:00 pm.

Rather go to a market? Head to the Lonsdale Quay Market and enjoy some local vendors. This market will be in the spirit of  St. Patrick’ s Day, since you can enjoy a good Irish stew here. The market will be held from 10 am till 3 pm.

But if you are not into Irish celebrations, you can get in entirely different spirits at the UBC Holi 2017. This is a free event that celebrates the Hindu spring festival, also known as “festival of colours” or the “festival of love”. There are several food trucks and you can purchase colour packets at the festival itself. It will be held on Saturday from 11 am till 3 pm at 6359 Agronomy Road.ubcholi

If you don’ t feel like having a party at all this weekend, there is always the option of stalking your favourite movie star in Vancouver. This may sound random, but we live in the Hollywood of the north. Many TV-shows and movies are filmed here, and there is a website which shows you exactly what movie is going to be filmed where and at what time. Go to creativebc.com and you will find out!

Have a great St. Patrick’s day and an amazing weekend!

Review: PuB NiGHT at Blarney Stone

Yesterday’s PuB NiGHT was at Blarney Stone in Downtown. It was really great seeing all of you there! Thank you all for coming and making this night great again.

Blarney Stone is the only original Irish Pub left in Vancouver. The pub has a lot of special beers, which can make you feel welcome in the city in no time. There is live music in the pub on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Most of the live music is performed by cover bands. Therefore, it is definitely worth checking it out in the weekend. If you would like to celebrate St. Patricks day, then this is the place to be! The pub has various activities for the entire week like Irish Trivia, Bushmills Dinner and the Jameson Barrelman’s Feast. However, they also organise normal trivia nights on Wednesdays.

16443644_1626303047385140_725039406_nLast night we were with a really big group, as we welcomed Dutch students from a university in Rotterdam to our PuB NiGHT. It was really nice to see so many people present at our PuB NiGHT. As it was Trivia Wednesday and we did not have anything to lose anyway, some of us decided to join the quiz as well. It was too bad that we could not hear everything of the quiz, as we were sitting upstairs and it was therefore very hard to answer all the questions. Others just sat on the couches and talked with each other. The two groups even mixed up a little bit and after a while both groups, the INTERNeX family and the Dutch students, went to other pubs to continue the party. The atmosphere among the group was really good and I was happy to be able to experience this PuB NiGHT.

I hope you all had a great time as well and hope we can continue the party at the Superbowl party!

Highlights of the Year 2016: January, February and March

The last month of the year has started and that means that we will start with the Highlights of the Year 2016. This week we start with January, February and March!

January

January, the beginning of this eventful year. It started of great with the first PuB NiGHT of the year at the Bismarck Bar. Later that week we had a great time ice skating at Robson Square.

At the end of January we had our first monthly trip. Skiing and Snowboarding in Whistler. January Whistler weekend.jpgThe weather forecast was perfect for this weekend, it promised a lot of new powdery snow. On Friday we got on the bus and drove to Whistler on the Sea to Sky Highway, which was a spectacular ride with great views. When we arrived we got ready to go on a night out in Whistler Village. The next day we went up to the Whistler Mountain and started skiing and snowboarding. After a long day we sat down and enjoyed some Après Ski. On Sunday we got up early again to enjoy the mountain again before the bus was leaving at 4.30. Everyone fell asleep on the bus, after a long but fun weekend!

February

The events in February were again exciting! In the middle of this month we went on a trip to the Rocky Mountains with West Trek Tours. On the first day we had a long ride to make. We got on the bus at 7 am and arrived in Golden at 6 pm. We checked in to the Mountain View Cabins and all enjoyed our evening together. The second day we made our way through Yoho and Banff National Parks. We stopped at Lake Louise to watch or ice skate on the frozen lake and after that we ice hiked through Johnston Canyon and see frozen waterfalls. After that we arrived in Banff and got ready for our first night out together at Hoodoo Nightclub. On the third day we went to Lake Minnewanka and Two Jack Lake. Making our way back to Golden we stopped at Emerald Lake and after that have a big BBQ a
t our Mountain View Cabins. Day four was the day to get back to Vancouver again. But before that we went to the Rocky Mountain Buffalo Ranch and travel through the Okanagan Valley.

March Pub Night.jpgAnother event was the Special Edition of FlyOverCanada. We enjoyed a flight over Canada and over China! This was in celebration of the Chinese New Year.

And of course we can never forget the PuB NiGHTs and the Beer Pong Night at the Cambie.

March

In the beginning of March we enjoyed the view over Vancouver at the Vancouver Lookout! And a few weeks later we celebrated St. Patricks Day by going to the parade and have a party at Blarney Stone! It was lots of fun! Also all the other PuB NiGHTs were really nice!

A big thank you to Sandra and Vivien who organized the PuB NiGHTS, events and trips in the first months of 2016!
