What to do on the weekend

It is Friday and it is only a few hours till you can get outside and start your weekend. There is a lot going on in Vancouver this weekend, so if you don’t have any plans yet, you can use this blogpost for some inspiration.

Today the INTERNeX gang is going to start their journey to the Rockies. During this trip we will visit some really beautiful lakes and places. However, if you do not join us at the Rockies, then there are still a lot of things you can do.

This Saturday is special, as you could get the chance to watch the Perseids Meteor Shower. This is one of the most popular meteor showers, as you can see between 150 – 200 meteors an hour. The peak of the meteor shower was on Thursday and will be on Saturday morning approximately between midnight and 3 AM. Try to find a place where there are no clouds and not too many lights to be able to catch a glimpse of this amazing happening. If you do not have time to watch it on Saturday, you are still able to see them on days before and after, but not as many as during the peak.

19105975_10209195261219595_4886294145526156925_nBesides this there are also quite some festivals and events happening in Vancouver this weekend. On Saturday the TD Vancouver Chinatown Festival starts, which is a 2-day cultural festival taking place in Chinatown. You could also go to the Richmond Maritime Festival. This is a free 2-day festival that takes place at the Britannia Shipyard in Steveston Village.

If you are more into art, you could go to the art market at Napier Greenway which takes place on Sunday. While wandering around the market, you can enjoy the live music. If you are really into shopping, then you should definitely go to the Summer Swap event at Burnaby Central Secondary. The entrance fee is $10 and besides that you also need to take 10 good-quality clothing items to donate. In return you can take unlimited clothes home with you.

I hope you are having a great weekend and hope to see you at either the Rockies trip or next week’s PuB NiGHT!

What to do on the weekend?

It is almost time for the weekend, so it is time to figure out what to do on the weekend. We have a few suggestions for you that you might want to check out before you make any plans!

18193778_10155234529877103_6254901922779113200_nOn Sunday we are planning on going to Bowen Island with the INTERNeX family. Bowen Island is a small island between Vancouver Island and Vancouver. Therefore, we are going by ferry to this awesome destination, which is going to be already an adventure itself. Once there you get the choice to do a hike, explore the island by scooter, do kayaking or to do stand-up paddling. You are still able to join if you would like to explore this island with us. If you want to know more about the event then check out our Facebook page and the blogpost.

If you still don’t have something planned for Saturday, we might be able to help you out with that. This weekend is the second weekend that Playland is open, so it is time to go onto all the rides and to let the adrenaline kick in. For only $36 you can get a day ticket and ride almost all rides. If you buy it online you will even save $3.

8158899125_27926f40d4_oWhen you are more into culture, Fort Langley might be the perfect place for you! Fort Langley is a small and old village only a few hours from Vancouver. While walking around in this village, you will discover all the wonders from the 19th century. If Fort Langley is a bit too far away, then you can choose to go to Gulf of Georgia Cannery in Steveston village. During your visit in Gulf of Georgia Cannery, you will learn about the history of the West Coast fishing industry. Both historic sites are free this year, so it is the time to explore and get to know British Columbia.

If you would rather experience culture by trying out different food, then you should definitely go to the Illumination Summer Night market. This market is held every weekend from May till September. There are over 200 different food and merchandise stands, so there is enough entertainment for the whole night. This year will also be the first year that it is together with a huge light show. The entrance fee is only $3, so it is definitely worth trying out.

See you at Bowen island or at next PuB NiGHT!

What to do on the weekend?

It’s FRIDAY! I always get really excited, not only because it means I have two days off, but because I get to go out and explore all that Vancouver has to offer! So here are some ideas to make your weekend a great one!

This weekend the INTERNeX family will go to Whistler, so there are no extra activities besides that. But if you want to have fun you can go to PlayDome at BC Place. PlayDome is the largest indoor carnival in Western Canada with over 45 rides and attractions! Definitely something you want to check out if you’re into attraction parks or carnivals. For only $29 you get a day pass that allows you to go on all the rides!IMG_1697

If you would rather go for something a bit more cultural you should go check out the Central Public Library on 350 W Georgia St. The Collosseum like building holds over 1.4 million items and it is pretty impressive to see. It’s the perfect place to go on a rainy day.

Like every weekend there are a few markets you can visit. On Sunday there is the Port Moody Winter Farmers Market at Hastings Park from 10 am till 2 pm8158370299_389721e2d3_o (1).jpg. Or you could visit Steveston Village, a cute little town in Richmond. TV series such as Once Upon A Time were filmed there, so you might recognise some of it! While you’re there you can visit The Cannery Farmers market at the Gulf of Georgia Cannery, which is a massive Britannia Heritage Shipyard and a National Historic site, from 10 am till 3 pm.

If you prefer to see a bit of nature you can visit the Pacific Spirit Park which is located at UBC. This weekend they have the annual Night Quest where they have 2 kilometres of lantern lit trails. This will be from 7 till 9:30 pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening and is for free.

I hope you guys have a great weekend and I’ll see you
tomorrow at Whistler or next week on PuB NiGHT, which will be a special one…
