How was your weekend?

And it is Monday again! Wow, that weekend passed by quickly. Before we are preparing our backpacks for our trip to Kelowna next weekend, I will tell you what I experienced in the last days.

My weekend started off Friday afternoon, when the office was suddenly full of enthusiastic people, ready for our game night. We laughed a lot about the creative inputs while playing “What do you meme?” and “Pictionary”. The game “Boys vs. Girls” showed which gender has the best skills. Hot discussions and tricky challenges later the winner was clear (girls, of course). The international mall was already empty, when we changed our location to Blarney Stone’s to enjoy some drinks and live music.

The next day started early, but with a nice surprise: it did not rain! So, we took the opportunity to explore the nature around Vancouver. Half an hour in the bus and 20 minutes on the ferry later, we arrived on Bowen Island. This island pictures exactly what I had in mind when thinking about British Columbia before I travelled to Canada. We hiked around a lake for three hours, enjoyed the amazing views and took hundred of pictures.

Trees, ferns, mountains, sdrwaterfalls, squirrels – we have seen all what you can expect from a proper nature day. We deserveda good lunch after this active day, so we visited a cute restaurant in the small village on the island. It got already dark again, when we arrived back in Vancouver. What a great day! I am still surprised how easily you can escape the busy city life here.

My Sunday morning began with breakfast, before it was time to depart to the pub. To a pub on Sunday midday? Yes, Super Bowl it was. Of course, I did not want to miss this received_10213862331466114American sports highlight when I had the chance to see it in the middle of the day. Many of you showed up at the Malone’s to see the game, the 7-minutes Justin Timberlake half-time show or to have a good reason to drink beer on a Sunday afternoon. Some of us even joined the game of chance the pub organised, but no one was lucky enough to win. Nevertheless, it was really fun to follow the spectacle with you. So, what team are we supporting next Sunday?!

I hope you also had a great weekend. See you all on Wednesday for our PuBNiGHT at the Beaver Bar!

This ticket gives include entrance to the Museum of Vancouver, H.R. MacMillan Space Centre and Maritime Museum. Buy a ticket and visit them all this Saturday between 10am and 5pm.

Don’t miss out the Super Bowl Sunday! The American Football championships are taking place on this day. If you know how much Canadians love sport, you can imagine this is a big thing here. So go to the pub and watch the game.

Enjoy your weekend to the fullest. Don’t regret anything you did, only regret the things you didn’t do. I can’t wait to see you all in our office for game night or on Sunday at the Super Bowl game. Cheers!

HIGHLIGHTS REVIEW OF THE YEAR 2015: January, February, March

JANUARY

2014 was gone … and 2015 was packed with a lot of great trips and events!15945047721_17a5755a7b_o

The last four weeks of 2015 have been starting and that means it’s time for us to start reviewing the highlights of this year. Within the next four weeks we will weekly publish a ‘highlights of the year review’ in which we’ll summarize the four quarters of 2015 full of awesome activities. I’m sure it’ll be quite a lot of fun remembering all the crazy and awesome trips, events and PUB NiGHTS we had planned and experienced with people from all around the world. So DON’T MISS this time journey through 2015.

Among others we checked out several restaurants and pubs such as The ROXY Burger, Star Wings & Ribs, the Noodlebox and The Famous Warehouse.

The very first day in January the Vancouver Canucks started in their second half of the season 2014 / 2015. The excitement was obvious all over town! As you probably know, hockey is huge here in Canada.pub night1

FEBRUARY

Besides of going to several good known restaurants and pubs such as The Old Spaghetti Factory, The Morrissey and The Black Frog we also didn’t miss the Super Bowl. It’s THE BIGGEST sport event in the world. This year the Seattle Seahawks played against the New England Patriots in Arizona and therefore we met up to watch the game together. The American Football Conference (AFC) champion New England Patriots defeated the National Football Conference (NFC) champion Seattle Seahawks, 28–24, to earn their fourth Super Bowl title. We actually cheered for the Seahawks since Seattle is so close to Vancouver and the folks there are so similar to those here in Vancouver. Friendly, openminded, helpful, honest, interested, cosmopolitan, … Anyways the win was pretty close.

MARCH

As the cherry blossoms and many other flowers filled our streets, parks, and yards with pink confetti, March arrived and by association spring. And as always there was a lot going on in beautiful Vancouver.14044795769_0c554afba9_o

Vancouver hosted the 37th Vancouver International Wine Festival and an International Dance Festival. Our INTERNeX group regularly met up for our weekly PUB NiGHTS. We decided to have a look what other pubs have plenty to offer. So we took our new arrivals to pubs like the Manchester Public Eatery, The Bismark, The Doolin’s and the Yaletown Brewing. Of course we also had to show them Blarney Stone.
