Smart Saver Vancouver

While the weather is still good, we should still have fun in the sun. But we can all understand that the summer may have been a bit expensive, that’s why we lined up some things that you can do while the weather is still nice and won’t cost you a fortune.

If you not have visited Kits Swimming Pool it is definitely something that you have to do while the sun is still shining now. The view is amazing because it is really close to Kitsilano Beach and the water is salt instead of chlorine.

36466824995_7499d6ccbc_zIf you want something more energetic and active you can also go for a paddleboard rental. Ecomarine has a lot of locations to rent a paddle-board.

Something that will cost you no money is doing a hike around the beautiful Stanley Park. Stanley Park is 400 hectares of gorgeous nature which makes it the largest park in North America. Stanley Park is surrounded by the seawall, which makes it special to go there for a hike.

Another thing, which won’t cost you any money, is visiting Dr.Sun Yat-Sen Park. This park has elements of a Chinese garden.

And if you feel like you just want to relax and enjoy the sun, Vancouver is offering a lot of beautiful beaches like Kitsilano Beach, English Bay, Jericho Beach and many more. Here you can take a refreshing dip into the water or soak up some sun.

I hope you all enjoy the last bit of summer here in Vancouver and we are looking forward to see you tomorrow at the PuB NiGHT.

Smart Saver

It’s Sunday again, time for a new smart saver! Since the weather is going to be sunny and warm, way not cooling off in one of the lakes near Vancouver.

Lynn Canyon
Lynn Canyon is easy reachable by transit (cost on the weekend only $2.75!) with many places to cool off. Lynn Canyon even has a suspension brigde. The main swimming hole is at the top of the trail where you can watch, if you are lucky, some cliff jumpers jump. However this is also a very busy place, so keep walking on towards the twin waterfall, there it is more quite and also a really nice spot for a picnic.

Cabin Lake on Cypress Mountain
A perfect combination of hiking and relaxing. Check here to see which trail you want to take up to the lake. After the hike you will find yourself in a beautiful place with a nice lake and a perfect spot for lunch. Take a dip in the water before you head back down again.

Pool99
And than there is pool99. A very popular spot for cliff jumpers, the water is freezing cold. It’s is a bit tricky to find your way there, you might have to jump over a located gate, however since it is weekend you won’t be the only one going up there.

So enjoy your weekend and to give you the heads up for next weeks smart saver: Free Transit on BC Day.

Free Transit on BC Day
Due to the delays on the 23rd of July on the expo and millimim line. Translink offers compensation to everyone who want to use the services of translinke on BC Day, you can travel for FREE! So look up what is going on on BC-day in Vancouver and around and get your free transit day!

INTERNeX Canada: How was your weekend?

Another week at the office starts today. But before we start, let’s take a look on the awesome weekend we had.

On Saturday we went to the Lynn Canyon Park in North-Vancouver.  We started hiking around 11am in the morning. In this park you can do some nice hikes. We saw waterfalls, bridges, fast flowing rivers, great views and of course the famous suspension bridge.

After a few minutes walking we went down to the river. The water was to cold for swimming, but with our shoes off we could climb to some of the big rocks. From there we took our shoes back on and continued our hike. Minutes later we arrived at the 30 foot pool. This is one of the main attractions of Lynn. It’s is a small canyon with some amazing blue and deep water.

Via a lot of stairs we came on a higher point. From there we hiked through the forest to the last thing on our list: the Twinn Falls. This is another waterfall you can visit (from the same river).
At the start point we took some lunch and enjoyed the (dry) weather. After the lunch we took the bus or bike back to our homes! Thanks for coming, we had a fantastic day with all of you!

Yesterday was also a busy day for me. I rented a car for one day to make a small roadtrip. First we went to Whistler, north of Vancouver. On our way we stopped at some awesome waterfalls. From Whistler we drove further north till we arrived at Pemberton. The temperature was amazing: 31 degrees Celsius! There was a small lake where some of us took a swim.

After a nice and full day of sightseeing is was time to go home. First we had some dinner in Squamish. After that we drove via the Sea to Sky highway back to (a rainy) Vancouver. I can recommend this trip to everybody; just rent a car and enjoy!

Have a great week,

Jelle
