Newest member of the INTERNeX PR-Team: Franzi

My name is Franzi and for the next few weeks I will be part of the PR-Team at INTERNeX. I’m really looking forward to planning trips and joining those with you.

Despite of all the new things here, I should not forget to introduce myself. I’m 20 years old and together with my family I live near Regensburg, which is a beautiful city in the heart of Bavaria (Germany). I’m studying Labour Market Management in Mannheim. In the summer semester this year we have the opportunity to do a practicum abroad – so I used the chance to gain experience in a new country and applied for a placement here at INTERNeX and – as you can see – luckily it worked and I’m joining the team for the next 6 weeks. At home I really like doing sports like swimming, tennis or biking – I may not be the best in it, but I still enjoy doing it. Although I like summer a lot more than winter, I could not live without skiing. I also shouldn’t forget to tell you that I’m in love with pugs and my favourite things to do are snacking and napping. Except that – sorry for fulfilling the typical cliché- I like travelling and experience new non-touristic spots.

Because of it’s amazing landscape I’m really excited to get to know Canada with all of you. Beach, mountains, sea and skyskrapers – I guess you can’t complain about anything of that.

I hope to see you at the Pub Night at the Yale tonight and get to know everyone!

– Franzi

Visit to Queen Elizabeth Park

This Saturday, September 20th, we’re going to visit the Queen Elizabeth Park. The Park is placed at the geographical center of Vancouver. Since the Queen Elizabeth Park is the highest point in Vancouver you can catch amazing views over the city. And of course the park has many beautiful gardens to walk through and enjoy. Some of the larger trees are about 60 years old. The coast redwood can grow to be one of the tallest trees of the world.

You’re able to do different activities there. So you can play Pitch& Putt, Tennis, Golf, Roller hockey, basketball, disc golf and lawn bowling. For sure it’s also fun just to watch other people playing, to relax and hopefully to enjoy the sun.
If there is anybody of you, who has a Frisbee, please take it with you, so we’re able to play Frisbee on the free Frisbee area. This would be a lot of fun.

If we’re getting hungry, we have the opportunity to have a picnic or to visit the Park Restaurant, which serves great food with an amazing view.

The Queen Elizabeth Park is sure to be one of the highlights of any visit to Vancouver.

The Park is near Oakridge-41st station on the Canada Line.
We’ll meet at the entrance along West 37th Avenue between Columbia and Mackie streets at 4 pm. Click here to get the way from the station to the entrance.
Join the event here.

So let’s meet up for a fun day at the Queen Elizabeth Park.

INTERNeX Canada: HiGHLiGHTS of the week

Hey guys, would you like to which are the most remarkable things that have happened this week in INTERNeX?

If the answer is yes, here you have one of our HiGHLiGHTS of the week posts !!

One of the the most important things that happened is that our new PR has arrived. His name is Tobias Rechtenbacher, but we can call him Toby !! Willkommen Tobias!!!

He is a 21 years old student from the South of Germany.

His hobbies in general are  sports in general, in particular soccer and tennis. But he loves hanging out with my friends as well! If you wanna know him, you just have to come to our PuB NiGHTS or join us in our weekly events!

Last Wednesday, we went to The Metropole, and we had a nice evening drinking and talking about the different issues and enjoying the cheap drinks and food.

We also had the opportunity to watch one of the first games of the Canucks vs Edmonton. Too bad our `Nucks lost 4-1!

And don´t forget to join us today to discover a real flea market in one of coolest areas in Vancouver: Commercial Drive!

After the market, we can go to eat and drink something in one of the pubs and cafes that you can find in Commercial Dr, also known as Hipsterland! I’m sure we can have a lot of fun!

Have a nice weekend everybody!

Best,

Mercedes

INTERNeX Canada: Tobias says “Hi everyone!”

Hi!

My Name is Tobias Rechtenbacher, but you can call me Toby! For the upcoming seven weeks I will support the PR team at INTERNeX. I know it’s not for long, but I definitely think it will be a great time and an amazing experience!

Tobias bild

I’m a 21-year-old student from the South of Germany doing a dual education course, i.e. I  spend the same amount of time in both practical training and theory (3 months in a company, 3 months at university).
What am I here for? Vancouver obviously is one of the most beautiful cities in North America. Combined with my position at INTERNeX and the chance to improve my fluency in English, Vancouver is the best place to be.

My hobbies are sports in general, in particular soccer and tennis. But I love hanging out with my friends as well!
If you have any further questions about me at all, please feel free to ask me!

I definitely hope that I will meet many of you, and maybe there is enough time to make a picture together. That way, I can remember  all the  amazing moments here in Vancouver!

Cheers,

Tobias Rechtenbacher

INTERNeX Canada: What to do on the weekend.

One Thursday more…and one weekend more is coming ! Let’s talk about some interesting activities for you.

This Saturday, we are going to Queen Elizabeth Park, located at the geographic centre of Vancouver, at the junction of Cambie Street and West 33rd Avenue.

Full of colors and different flowers,this 52 hectare  park is one of the most beautifully maintained public parks in the world. Second only to Stanley Park in annual visits, it receives nearly six-million people a year.

We can find a lot of interesting things there such as:

  • Quarry Gardens: specimen trees, shrubs, perennials, bulbs and annuals selected for their foliage, form and flowers. A stream and cascading waterfall
  • Dancing Waters: the famous fountain is comprised of 70 jets of water using 85,000 litres of recirculating water.
  • Arboretum: Canada’s first civic arboretum. The first plantings were done in 1949. The larger trees are about 60 years old. Among these is the coast redwood, which can grow to be one of the tallest trees in the world.
  • Rose Garden:was built in 1967 to commemorate Canada’s Centennial. It contains many rose varieties.
  • Sculptures: The park’s most famous is Knife Edge-Two Piece by Henry Moore. There are also four sculptures by Cameron Kerr in the plaza.

This is just some of the things we can do in Elizabeth Park, in Vancouver. You can also play tennis, basketball, rolley hockey and much more.

I hope you come with us. Join us in our Facebook event !

Best,

Mercedes
