PuB NiGHT Review: Bismarck.

So, what do you do if Tim does not want to come to a Pub Night? Right, you bring Pub Night to Tim!

Amiel had this great idea of asking Tim out for beers after work, like we often do.. Then we would secretly invite everyone to the Bismarck, and TADAAA Pub Night with Tim!

As soon as it was beer o’clock Tim decided to take us to the Bismarck for beers after which Amiel and I would head off for pub night at the Six Acres. However, this was obviously never going to be the case. When Laura showed up first and the others quickly after Tim suspected something, so we had to reveal what was going on.

The pub filled up quickly with our people and tequilas were poured richly. After a few rounds of drinks we started speed friending. Speed friending is quite the same as speed dating, except for the fact that we are not trying to find to love of our lives (or are we?), but life long lasting friendships.

This is how it went down: everyone was paired up and provided with a bunch of questions. For four minutes we could ask the other person anything we wanted from that list or something we came up with ourselves. There were questions like: “If you were a ghost, who would you haunt?” and “What is your favourite place in Vancouver?” and many many more!

We found out that some of us don’t like Disney movies, want to work in a cinema, don’t have heroes, would want to eat Indian food if that is the only thing they could eat for the rest of their lives, like their coffee black and think it is weird how Vancouverites like their coffee and much much more. Interesting.

Well, after this awesome activity we just continued the beers and the tequilas and more beers and tequilas and more beers and tequilas… and more beers and tequilas.

By far the best pub night I have been on! Thanks for coming out guys! If this is how it is going to go down in the Rockies, well.. oh my!

That’s all for today. See you guys tomorrow morning 7 am at the Waterfront Station.

INTERNeX Canada: PuB NiGHT Review!

Last night, we had our weekly pub night at Ceilis Irish pub! Everything was awesome, except for one thing…people were being turned away at the door because they needed their passports if they didn’t have a BC ID.  I was not very happy about it, as you can already imagine.

So I’d like to apologize to every one who came out last night and were turned away because they didn’t have their passports with them. I was not aware of this until yesterday.  Places such as Ceili’s and Cambie require everyone who is international, to show their passports as their first piece of ID.

To make matters worse…my phone died earlier that day. So if you tried to reach me, you know why I wasn’t replying back. Although it was a disastrous night, there were some good parts too. Like for example, the cheapest and the most delicious wings ever!! Ann-Christin and I shared, and we each only had to pay a toonie! How awesome is that? And $4 beer and $4 tequila shots? Life cannot get better than that, my friends.

For next time, I will make sure if there is a policy like this and let you all know way in advance. And don’t be discouraged about last night…next week there is going to be a SPECIAL pub and club night 😉 which you shouldn’t miss out!

Cheers,

Flora

INTERNeX Canada: International Vancouver- Mexicans!Wey!

As you can see this city is full of people from different places! Asian, Europeans…but today I want to speak about Mexicans! There are not that many Spanish people here, but oh god! This city is full of Mexicans.

The PR girls with the Mexican Flag at INTERNeX Summer Party

If you go out by night, you will recognize them easily! They will be probably dancing in a crazy way and enjoying like there is no tomorrow! They are cheerful ( and they love tequila haha)

There are Mexican restaurants everywhere they can’t like without corn (the most of their dishes are made with corn) but it’s also true that their food is one of the best options wherever you are! Yummy!

Mexicans loves music and party (I think I already said that but it’s true), but they also have a strong values about family relationship and friendship. They are always welcoming the new people; their house is your house. 🙂

We all know about tequila, tacos, but how is the situation in Mexico right now?

Mexico is the second most import economy after Brazil in Latin America; it has important economic relations with USA where the 75 % of their exportation goes. It is a country rich in contrasts; you can find tropical jungle like Lacandona in Chiapas or a dessert like Samalayuca in Chihuahua. It is also one of the richest countries in animal species. And what about the tourism? Oh definitely it has a lot of  incredible and different places to go! Beaches, cities, nature, jungle…

Sometimes is funny because when a pure Mexican speaks with another Mexican in real real Mexican-Spanish language, I can hardly understand the conversation… (I could write down some words but they are not the most polite words to include in a post, so just believe me)

And to finish…just a Son Mexicano, one of the typical music of their country

Enjoy all the possibilities that Vancouver has to offer for you, meet new and different  people and learn about the cultures’ differences! It will make you more open mind and it will help you to understand the world where we live in!
Cheers,

Irene
