The Beer-Pong Rules – A short Tutorial

Preparation for tonights Cambie-Pong Tournament

As we don’t have any ‘New Kids on the Blog’ today, I am gonna make use of the time and go through the most important beer-pong rules again.

Once again – no pressure, but I do want us to be prepared!

49175269351_12d4b48abb_o.jpgHowever those are just general rules and may be modified in every game. So I won’t guarantee that those will be exactly tonights rules. Some rules might be different or may not apply at all. But I am sure, we will find out tonight. But let’s start with our short Beer-Pong-Tutorial!

1.No-one wants you to be an alcoholic

This game is not supposed to force you to drink! The only reason I am calling it Beer-Pong Tournament is literally because, that is how the game is called. Tonight, we will be playing the game with water in our cups, therefore you decide if you want to drink or not!

No matter what, this is the most important rule ever – YOU DON’T HAVE TO DRINK IF YOU DON’T WANT TO. In any case you are welcome to take part in the game.

2. Reracking

It is also referred to as simply rearranging your cups. Usually you are allowed to do that twice during a match, but this depends on the amount of cups that are involved total. So we will have to wait till tonight to actually find out. You are allowed to do that, whenever it is your term, in other words: before you are about to throw.

Also, if you opponent requests it, the last cup may always be pulled back and centred.

3. Bouncing

If a ball hits the table and then goes into a cup (even by accident, blindfolded or whatever), the cup that the ball goes into is removed, as well as another cup of the defending players choice. If there are only two cups remaining, the bounce only counts as 1 cup.

4. Fingering/ Blowing

You may have heard the very sexist limiting term, that either one of those affects you IMG_4558.JPGaccording to your gender … I’ll give you a moment to figure out what I mean…. but since we are living in 2020, I’d say let’s loose those gender rules!

However fingering is when the ball is spinning inside of a cup and the defending team pulls it out with his/her finger. Blowing is when the ball is spinning inside of a cup and it is blown out by the defending team.

Very difficult rule … I know :D.

5. Fixing Cups

If requested the cups may be fixed at any time. Don’t mix it up with the racking. It simply means that you put the cups where they are supposed to be as they might have been shifted during the game.

IMG_5093.JPG6. Trickshots

This rule applies after shooting, if the ball rolls back to the shooter without hitting the floor (you may also grab it mid-air), they can shoot it again in a creative, tricky way. (For example behind the back, blindfolded, through a leg …).

7. The Rebuttal

After the last cup is hit, each player from the loosing team has a chance to hit the remaining cup. Each player shoots until they miss, the order is irrelevant. Once both players miss and there are remaining cups, the game is over. If the players manage to hit all remaining cups the game goes into a 3 cup overtime.

(This rule, is pretty much played different in every single game, so please pay attention, before you get into a fight with your opponent ;)).

8. The Elbow rule

This rules claims, that the elbow must be behind the edge of the table. Although this rule only applies in the actual process of throwing a ball. You might think, this is very obvious, but trust me for some people it’s not :D.

Just wait until you opponent screams “watch your eeeellllbbboooowww” with every single move you make, even if it’s just to pick up your side-drink to have a sip (when it’s not even your term) .. hypothetically I mean…

Once again, they will be explaining the rules tonight and they might differ to the ones here, but now your knowledge is refreshed and you are ready for the big night.

Can’t wait to see you there!

Cheers,

— Nadja  xx

PuB-Night Review

Thank you guys! This was such a fun night!

Last night we went to The Cambie Bar & Grill, to check out this well known location ourselves. Even though I haven’t been to Vancouver for that long, I’ve heard many stories about it. And to be honest, as I heard they host a beer pong tournament on Wednesdays, I knew we would have to go there.  IMG_4553.JPG

Drinks went down well and the food was delicious. Especially the free nachos were appreciated :-D. Thanks again to the neighbour table, who clearly underestimated the “monster” nachos! As we all had some time to talk about how life has been treating us so far, the real serious stuff came up – what teams to make for the beer pong tournament. After long discussions, INTERNeX sent 3 teams into the race.
As this was all about fun, we realized pretty early, that some other teams take this way more serious than others … ;-).  So the INTERNeX crew had to stand together in this tournament after all. It ended up in a European (which was us) against not-European battle. We even made it to the final!
Only then we got told, that the winning team will get free “Cambie Shirts” …. motivation was on!

Unfortunately we lost that one very fast and kinda obvious. I’ll have to admit, we didn’t stand a chance against the CRAZY team we had to face. Congratulation guys, well played.

IMG_4560.JPGEven though INTERNeX couldn’t bring home this cup, we still enjoyed it very much. And I still made a winning experience, I had my first fireball, what an experience! To be honest – I definitely expected worse, I even liked it.

So thank you very much guys! This has been a great night. Can’t wait to see you all again at next weeks PuB-Night at the Portside Pub.

Cheers,

Spring Lights Illumination – Experience IT Review

On Saturday night we went to the Queen Elizabeth Park for the Spring Lights Illumination and although that didn’t quite turn out the way we thought it would, we still had a great night with you guys!

IMG_1980Luckily this time there was no snow coming down on us, so we actually got to enjoy the view. We met up at the conservatory where we all got some pretty pictures while it was still light outside. Then we went to the statue where we took our group picture as it was slowly starting to get darker. As we walked back to the conservatory we found more people that belonged to our group and we decided to walk around the park in the dark. Since they decided to cancel the Spring Lights Illumination last minute we could hardly see anything, but we did get a good laugh out of it.

After walking around for a bit we decided it might be a better idea to go to downtown to get a drink. Some of us decided to go home, the rest ended up at The Cambie and had a few drinks together to celebrate the weekend!

I hope to see you all at PuB NiGHT!

Pub Night Review – Beer Pong @ The Cambie

We came soooo close on Tuesday! One of our teams the Ted Mosbys made it to the finals! And who stood in their way? You can probably already guess…of course it was Italia again.
Our 2 other teams were unfortunately already kicked out in the first round.

We had such a blast tough! The Cambie was packed as always which let us play against and meet lots of people. It really is one of my favorite bars in Gastown.

So yea, as was stated above 2 of our teams were immediately eliminated in round 1. The first team by Italia and the second team by our very own Ted Mosbys. Fate can be immensely cruel! However we at least kicked butt in the consolation round where each team took home a victory.

After that the tournament became quite heated. Everyone was rooting for our last team. And they actually made it further than ever before. Even in the finals Italia and the Ted Mosbys each only had 1 cup left. But sadly it wasn’t meant to be. Still, we took some satisfaction in making our nemesis sweat!

Afterwards there were no hard feeling of course and everyone celebrated the exciting finale to the awesome tournament West Trek organized.

Thanks for coming!

How was your weekend? – Celebration of Light

What an amazing fireworks show!

Last Saturday we INTERNeX’ers went to see the first of 3 days of the Celebration of Light festival. The show started at 10pm but the beach was already extremely packed when we met up at smiley firework7.30pm. Luckily we still managed to squeeze into a spot big enough for our whole group!
Next, we waited in anticipation for the sun to finally go down. We were all expecting something great because fireworks were invented in China after all. So naturally the representative should make its country proud. And they didn’t disappoint. The show was really great! They even made Smileys in the air!

Regrettably, a half an hour later the show which was accompanied by dramatic music already ended.
However, the night was still young. So we moved on to chill at a nearby park where we were suddenly entertained by a wandering musician from East Van – the top of the world!
Later on, we once again ended up at The Cambie topping off an already awesome Saturday.

Hope you had an incredible weekend as well and see you at the PuB NiGHT on Wednesday!

PS: Don’t forget to swing by the office during this week to sign up for our Whistler Day trip on Sunday!

PuB NiGHT Review

Beer Pong @ Cambie’s

Beer Pong is one of the most popular drinking games at the moment. So, we thought we’d give it a shot, as well.
Last PuB NiGHT we went to Cambie’s on Tuesday to join the West Trek sponsored Beer Pong tournament with 2 teams: The Housewives and Why Not. Ironically, The Housewives only had a single female member out of a total of 4 per team which was our very own Natasja!

In round 1 we unfortunately already had our first casualties, after Why Not’s opponents just barely won with each team only having 1 cup left standing at the end.IMG_1360

The Housewives were a bit more successful though. We absolutely crushed the first and second opponents and that had us really psyched So naturally, we went to the semifinals full of confidence. However, then came the Italians! The Reigning Cambie Pong champions! We fought and struggled to our best abilities but ultimately, we had no chance.

Following this defeat, we drowned our sorrows in more beer and watched the final match where our enemies of the evening finally got a taste of divine retribution! The opposing team kicked the Italians off their throne and took the prize for themselves. They won 4 tickets which can be used for a West Trek tour to either Seattle or Whistler.IMG_1498We had an extremely enjoyable time at Cambie’s and joining the tournament!

Hope to see you all next time!
