PuB NiGHT Review: The Lamp Lighter

“BOURBON BINGO!” We only had the chance to yell that once. Lucky Saskia won a free pitcher of beer. Despite of not winning other prices, we had so much fun doing the bingo.

The Lamp Lighter is a nice big pub in the heart of Gastown. Every Wednesday they organise a free bourbon bingo where you can win a lot of prizes, like beers, shots and gift cards. They play a lot of nice music and you can request songs at the DJ as well.

We were happy to see a lot of people showing up and all our reserved tables were filled. We continued the night at the karaoke bar, where we sang great surprise songs like Scatman. Thank you for that, I will remember it. See you this Sunday at the Halloween parade at Granville Street.

Review: PuB NiGHT at The Lamplighter

Yesterday’s PuB NiGHT was at the Lamplighter. It was great to see you all there, thank you all for coming!

The Lamplighter is part of the Donnelly Group. The pub organizes several events such as Pub trivia on Tuesdays and Bourbon Bingo on Wednesdays. It offers quite some beers and ciders. Besides that they also have a good selection of cocktails, with one on special every week.

Yesterday was Tess and Danielle’s last PuB NiGHT and we made sure that it was a good one. We started off with Bourbon bingo as it is one of our favourite things to do in Vancouver. As we were with a really big group and we had luck at our side, we won a lot of the rounds. Eventually it looked like it was us against the rest of the pub. In total we won 6 times, with one person winning 20 bourbon shots. After that we decided to go to The Met for some karaoke, because there is no last PuB NiGHT without karaoke! We sang our favourite song “We are all in this together” from High School Musical with the whole group. There were also people who were a bit more brave and sang some songs with just a few other people.

It was great that you all came to say goodbye to Tess and Danielle! See you in the Rockies or next week’s PuB NiGHT!

Review: PuB NiGHT at Mahony and Sons

Yesterday’s PuB NiGHT was at Mahony and Sons at Canada Place. It was great to see you all there! Thank you all for coming!

Mahony and Sons is a pub which gives you a bit of an Irish feeling, as they use a lot of wood in all of their pubs. You also have the possibility to sit outside, as they have terraces at all 3 locations, which is great on a sunny day. The pub is one of our favourites in Vancouver, because they have a pretty good deal on Wednesdays, namely Wine Wednesday. This means that all the wine bottles are 50% off. Mahony and Sons also offers great food, so it is definitely worth checking out.

This time we were placed on a long table next to the window, which would normally be a great spot for a nice view of the mountains. We started off talking about your plans in the weekend and about your week so far. After a while we also started to talk about the gifts we bought for family and friends. As it was Blanca’s last night, the books showed up and she had to write a few messages in them. To finish her last night well, some of you went to the Met for karaoke.

It was great to catch up with all of you again! I hope to see you on Sunday at the Vancouver Pride Parade!

Review: PuB NiGHT at the Lamplighter

Yesterday we went to the Lamplighter for PuB NiGHT! Once again, so many people that showed up. Thank you all for coming!

18337202_10209426544842635_1581636809_nThe Lamplighter is a pub in Gastown. It is part of the Donelly group, which you immediately feel when you step into the pub. This also gave me a familiar feeling, as we have been going to pubs from the Donelly group a lot. Lamplighter might not be the most cheapest place for drinks, but the atmosphere is good for sure. The pub has a cocktail of the week. This week’s one was the Gin Tonic, which was $2 off. Besides that they have a lot of beers and ciders, so there is something for everyone.

There were several screens in the pub that showed us a game of the Stanley Cup: Edmonton Oilers vs. Anaheim Ducks. This meant that a lot of Canadians went to pubs to see the game. The Lamplighter was also very busy, but luckily we had our own spot in the corner of the pub. During the breaks the pub was playing “Bourbon Bingo”. You could get free sheets at the bar and could win bourbon shots, a $25 gift card and a beer. Almost everybody started to play bingo, as it was free anyway and we simply love bingo. One of our group won the bourbon shots and others were close to win the $25 gift card.

18336958_10208904603233327_1425945733_nAfter the bingo we ended in the Met. Everybody immediately started to write down songs that they wanted to sing. Obviously, we had to sing the INTERNeX song “We are all in this together” of High school musical too, because a night at the Met without an INTERNeX song does not exist. Others were daredevils and sang a song without the whole INTERNeX group. I am glad that I finally had my karaoke experience in Vancouver.

Overall, it was an amazing night. I hope to see you all this weekend at Lighthouse Park or at next PuB NiGHT!

Review: Pub Night @ The Metropole

Thanks for another cool pub night yesterday at the Metropole. It was really good to see you guys again. And it was great to see some “new faces” as well. The food was really cheap, and you could get a burger and a beer for just $6.49! Every Wednesday is a karaoke night at the Metropole, so we had lots of fun listening to some very entertaining singers. And let’s just be honest, not all the karaoke singers were good. But we’ve got to give them credit… they really tried 🙂

And of course The Met also have their own Foosball table that we just had to try. So a couple of us played a couple of let’s say very intense matches. Great fun!

Once again thanks for a greet night, and don’t forget our little trip to the CandyTown in Yaletown this Saturday at 12pm. This is one of the only big Christmas markets in Vancouver with free entrance. Would be nice to see a lot of you there. Click here to read more about the market and to sign up for the event.

Pub Night Announcement

Hey everybody. Guess what, it’s time for another pub night… Yaaay! This time we’ll meet at The Metropole Community Pub. And of course we’ll meet at 7pm as usual. It’ll be a chance for you who couldn’t go to Portland to hear about this great trip.

Aaand once again we’re going to a nice pub where the food is good but the prices won’t kill your monthly budget. Prices on food don’t get above $9.49 but it’s up to you whether you want to top up your dish with add ons for a few extra Dollar. The daily special features a burger and a beer (Granville Island draught) for just $6.49! It doesn’t get any cheaper than that. Click here and get an overview of the full food and drinks menu.

The Metropole is located at 320 Abbott Street, only 600 metres from Stadium-Chinatown Station and 550 metres from Waterfront Station. You can sign up for the pub night here.

Looking forward to see you for another fun pub night.

INTERNeX Canada: Picture of the week

Our picture of the week is, of course, four our new intern Tobias! He arrived last Monday to the office and his first week was pretty busy!

The Beautiful German Crew

If you don’t know, he’s a 21 years old guy from South Germany. He studies Business Administration, Department of Banking, in a program which combines 3 month training and 3 months at university.  He likes soccer and tennis and hang out with friends.

So this picture was taken in his first PuB NiGHT in The Metropole. We went there last Wednesday to watch the Hockey Game. You can read the entire review here if you are interested.

I made him a little interview about how was his first week here!

What was thing that most surprised you about Vancouver?

I think it is definitely the matter of fact that Vancouver is so multicultural. It’s kind of surprising how many people you meet whose origin is not Canada!

What was the best and the worst thing during your first week?

The best thing was that I experienced how nice and helpful people are in Vancouver especially my office mates and of course my host family!

The worst thing? I don’t remember any negative moments, because Vancouver is amazing!

What did you do to overcome the jet lag?

I tried don’t sleep during the flight from Germany to Canada. Hence I could sleep better the first night, but I was wrong: I only slept 4 hours! But I arrived on Friday, so I had Saturday and Sunday to relax.

One thing that you have to bring in your luggage.

Definitely your Letter of Introduction! I saw a few students waiting at Immigration for a long time, because they forgot them LOL.

So welcome Tobias! We are so happy to have a new intern, and we are sure we will have a lot of fun together!

Happy Sunday Funday!

Clara.
