The Rocky Mountains 2019

Have you wondered how awesome would a trip to the Rockies be? Would you want to visit a beautiful city called Banff? Are you thinking what would be the best way to make it happen? Well I got some good news for you; INTERNeX is going to The Rocky Mountains in April and only thing you have to do is to make sure you sign up on time! Now I will take some time to tell you more about our Rockies trip.33304981604_6da396a973_o-1.jpg

We will see a lot of stunning views and visit some famous lakes. Here are some of the places that I’ve heard are included (depending on the weather ofc); Lake Louise, Moraine Lake, Two Jack Lake, Jasper and Columbia Icefields. If you want you can take the Lake Louise Gondola to explore some amazing views. I think we will have a chance to try out the hot springs, which are actually not open after April. We will also get to see the Mount Robson which is the highest mountain of the Canadian Rocky Mountains.

0.jpegWe will spend one night at a hotel in a beautiful mountain town called Banff. There we will have an option to go explore the city and sit down for some drinks. Good news for the 18-year-olds; we are in Alberta and you are allowed to have some drinks too if you feel like it! One of the nights is spent at Mountain View Cabins where we will sit down around a campfire and enjoy some hot chocolate and marshmallows.

The 4-day trip takes place from Friday 19th to Monday 22nd (the Easter weekend). You can find a Facebook event for the Rockies through this link https://www.facebook.com/events/1216877111822641/

Make sure to sign up for the trip before 5th of April!

What to do on the weekend?

A busy weekend coming up? Don’t have anything to do? Or maybe you just want to do nothing? Well here are some ideas for you no matter what kind of weekend you were planning.

img-20190319-wa0017.jpgVancouver Fashion Week is in town and some of us are going to spend some fashion time tonight and tomorrow. I myself have never been to a fashion week so I’m really looking forward for this. To everyone who is coming remember to dress up, be on time and bring two pieces of ID. I will be updating the Facebook event about schedules so be sure to check that out.

The ski season is coming to an end so if you have the urge to ski I’d suggest doing it sooner than later. Good places to go are for example Mt. Seymor, Mt. Grouse or Mt. Cypress. Don’t worry if you did not bring your own ski gear from home or if you don’t own any because you can for sure rent all the necessaries from the ski resort. Some places also offer a shuttle to the mountain so you don’t have to worry about how to get there.

Another thing you might want to consider of doing before it is too late is going to the Canucks game. There are a handful of home games left and the future depends on how well the Canucks will fight to get through to playoffs. So make sure to buy your tickets and go cheer the Canucks for win!

Btw you can find an event for the Rockies Trip now in Facebook, make sure to check that out. I wish a great weekend for everyone!

Rockies tour guide: Add-ons

Since there are so many things to do in The Rockies, we wanted to give you a quick update on all the additional activities you can do during our tour! There is also a small update on the schedule.

Due to the warm weather in the Rockies we are going to the BC Wildlife Park in Kamloops instead of the sleigh ride. Wildlife can be dangerous in real life and therefore this is the perfect opportunity to get to know more about the wildlife of BC. You may even meet the Spirit Bear or one of the Bobcats during the Bobcat feeding. If you prefer to see other animals, you can also walk around the park on your own or take a ride on the miniature train. This activity is included in the program and therefore no additional cost, except for the miniature train. The miniature train ride is an additional $1, which needs to be paid in cash. After that you can get something to eat at the full-service café or get some souvenirs at the gift shop.

17454838_1678236365525141_1539661662_oThere is a lot to do during spring time and the Rockies are just as beautiful as they are during summer. As there will be some snow in the Rockies, you are able to go skiing, snowboarding, snow tubing or dog sledding. Skiing, snowboarding and snow tubing can be booked on the bus to the Rockies, so there is no need to decide on this matter beforehand. However, this is not the case when you would like to have lessons or if you choose to do dog sledding. These activities need to be booked beforehand.

If you have had enough of the snow then you can try out ice skating. Would you rather do more sightseeing? Then the Banff gondola might be a good fit for you. During this activity you will have an awesome view of all the mountains. Both of these activities can be booked on the bus. Another sightseeing activity is the ice walk. You are not actually walking on ice, as it is too fragile for that. However, you will pass several scenic areas where you will be able to see the true beauty of ice. This activity needs to be booked beforehand. If you have had enough of the cold, then the hot springs are perfect for you! It is a great opportunity to warm up and to relax before you go to work again.

The prices for additional activities are about:
Ice skating – $13
Banff Gondola – $50
Ski lift tickets – $95
Equipment rentals – $45
Ski or snowboard lesson package – $170
Snow tubing – $28
Ice walk – $68
Dog sledding (2 hrs) – $165 (min. of 3 people per sled is required)
Hot springs – $7

The Rockies trip is coming closer and closer and so is the deadline! You only have time to sign up and pay at the office or PuB NiGHT for the Rockies trip till the 30th of March. So make sure to sign up soon, because you really do not want to miss out on this trip. It is $359 and for INTERNeX candidates it is only $354. Unfortunately we can only take cash, so make sure to swing by the ATM beforehand. The price includes accommodation with breakfast, transport, entrance to a nightclub and the BC Wildlife Park. Please take into account that you can get a discount for some activities if you pay them beforehand and some of them require paying beforehand as well. You can find more information on the event page on Facebook.

INTERNeX is going to the Rockies!

In April it is finally time to cross the Rocky Mountains from your bucketlist! INTERNeX will be organizing a long weekend at this amazing destination in the Easter weekend! This means less effort to get the days off for this amazing trip.

You might have heard about the Rocky Mountains. It is one of the most famous and, most importantly, it is one of the most beautiful and spectacular destinations of Canada. A must see if you are here! The most known destinations within the Rockies are Banff, Jasper and Lake Louise. We are happy to inform you that we will be visiting Banff and Lake Louise during our trip to the Rockies! The trip will take 4 days during which we will also spend some time in Golden and Chase.

On the first day in Chase we will explore the city with a sleigh ride. After that you can warm up with a nice hot chocolate. Then we continue our journey to the hotel where we will get to know a bit more about the Canadian culture. If you still haven’t warmed up, you can get into the hotel’s hot tub or join the campfire.

The next day we will drive to Banff. During our ride, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of Mount Revelstoke National Park and Glacier National Park. We will also visit Roger’s Pass National Historic Site and Lake Louise. After a great day of sightseeing, you can dance the night away in a nightclub. As Banff is in Alberta where they got a different alcohol policy, our 18 year old candidates are able to join us as well. This means it is the perfect night to party together.

On the third day we will get to see a bit more of Banff. After some exploring, we will go to our next and final destination, Golden. Once we reach the hotel, you can take a dip in the pool, warm up in the hot tub or go to the local pub for the end of tour party. However, don’t party too hard, because we still got great things on the planning for our last day. On the way back to Vancouver we will go see Craigellachie and have a short stop at the Aberdeen Shopping Mall for some lunch and shopping.

Review: Pub Night @ The Lennox Pub

Yesterday we had yet another good pub night.

This time we met at the Irish pub the Lennox Pub in downtown Vancouver. The weather was a bit cooler compared to the nice sunny and hot weather the last couple weeks but fortunately there was plenty of space for us inside the cozy Irish pub. It was nice to see all of you who showed up for the pub night. A couple of us chose to try out the pub’s food while others just tried out some of the pub’s tasty and delicious selection of beers. We were lucky that the pub had a few special offers on beers this evening.

While getting something to drink and eat we had a really good time chatting about various topics. It was great to hear how everybody is doing in their different projects,  and what kind experiences and adventures everybody’s had in Canada as well as in other places around the world. Those who met up but didn’t have the chance to go to our Rockies trip also got the chance to hear a bit about some of the very good moments from this amazing trip. We’re definitely looking forward to our next great trip, and we hope to see just as many joining the trip. It will be awesome!

It would be great to even more people turn up for our next pub night. We’re definitely looking forward to yet another good evening in good company next Wednesday.
