What to do on the weekend?

Are you ready for the weekend? Yes? So am I! And this weekend is full of different activities. From spring to winter, from indoor to outdoor: you could experience it all! So let’s have a look at the opportunities that Vancouver is offering.

On Saturday, Playland is finally opening its door again! Amazing rides, fun games and good food is waiting for you. No matter if you go with your friends or your whole family, you won’t get bored! There is something to do for everyone. The entry fee is $37 and this ticket includes unlimited access to over 35 rides and attractions. Even the Pacific Adventure Mini Golf is included! You can join this fun from 10am until 6pm on Saturday and on Sunday.

Do you enjoy art? Then the event Art in the City is a perfect fit for you. Located at the West End Community Centre, you can find a market that showcases fine art. This includes paintings, sculptures as well as photography. Just visit the Exhibition Hall to see the work of over 50 artists. You can do so from 12pm until 5pm. Besides looking at art, you can also listen to live music, participate in art workshops as well as a variety of activities that are offered for every age group. A big plus of this event: free admission.

If you haven’t been there yet but still would like to see it: The Abbotsford Tulip Festival is still in high bloom at the moment. For $8-$10 (depending if you buy it online or on site) you can enjoy the beautiful view over the different range of colours that the tulip fields offer. It’s perfect for pictures! You can also pick your own tulips in a field for only $1 per stem. On the festival ground, it is also possible to enjoy a good hamburger or to play Cornhole (also known as Bean Bag Toss).

Last but not least, to all snow-lovers: this is your last chance to ski and snowboard on Grouse Mountain! The winter season on Grouse Mountain is officially over after this weekend. So grab your skis or snowboard (or rent one on site) and enjoy skiing in the day or night.

Have a great weekend everyone! I’m looking forward to see you on our day trip to Squamish.

What to do on the weekend?

Here comes the sun and I say it’s all right. Spring is coming! According to the weather forecast, it will be sunny this weekend! Since we can finally plan activities outside again, let me give you some suggestions.

Saturday is a special day because… we’re celebrating Earth Day! Earth Day itself is actually Sunday the 22nd, however, celebrating it on a Saturday seems more convenient. Earth Day is an event celebrated worldwide. Its purpose is to raise awareness for the environment and help end plastic pollution. Plastic is damaging the planet to a great extent, including the ocean and its animals and us, humans, as well. Therefore, lets use this day to make a difference and appreciate the planet we are living on. The perfect way to do so? Go to the Earth Day Parade and Festival! There will be a march to the park, where food trucks and live music entertainment will be waiting for you. 29698319564_2b17f6c1ab_n

Does a day filled with sun, music and delicious food sound good to you? Then I found a great event for you! This Sunday the 40th Annual Greek Food Fest will be happening in Vancouver. Prepare your body for lots of Greek food, such as baklava and tzatziki. The event lasts all weekend long.

Not into Greek food? No worries! Until the 29th of April, there is a Tulip festival in Chilliwack. The festival offers 20 acres of tulips in all the vibrant colours you can think of. Enjoy a nice stroll along the ‘Tulip path,’ delicious food from the various food trucks and take pictures to show your family and friends. The festival is opened from 9am until 6pm and tickets vary from $10 online and $15 on-site. It might take a while to get there, but since it’s Western Canada’s largest and most renowned Tulip Festival, it will definitely be worth it!

Of course, if you just want to take it easy, why not go to the park and enjoy the sun? Bring a blanket, some fun games and delicious food and you are guaranteed to have a fun, relaxing day before the busy workweek starts again.

I wish you all a great weekend! See you at the Earth Day Parade tomorrow!
