How was your weekend?

Another eventful weekend is behind us, so let’s have a look at what we did the last few days.

On Saturday we went hiking at the Lynn Canyon Park. That’s a popular destination, located in the district of North Vancouver. We met at 12 o’clock at the Waterfront Station and took two busses to get to the Lynn Canyon Cafe. Unfortunately we missed the second bus, so the arrival took as a bit longer than expected.

However as soon as we got there, we started our little hike. At first we had to cross the famous Lynn Canyon Bridge. It’s quite the same as the Capilano Suspension Bridge, but you don’t have to pay for that. That’s why I would definitely recommend going there.IMG_0897The next stop was the 30 foot pool. Clear, blue water, surrounded by a lot of rocks and trees. The popular swimming hole would be a perfect spot for a refreshing swim during the summer months, but unfortunately it was a cloudy and cold day. Despite that a few brave guys dared to jump into the ice-cold water.IMG_0916

After one lunch break and another quick stop at the Twin Falls we finished our hike. So, workout for the weekend was done. 🙂

On Sunday, me and my fellow students Barbara and Franzi went to Seattle. It was only a one-day-trip but it was quite cool to visit the most famous spots of this city. On the pictures below you can see for example the Space Needle and the popular Pike Place Market. Even though Seattle is famous for being the rainiest city of the United States, we were lucky with the weather. It wasn’t raining during our stay. Yessss!

I hope you enjoyed the weekend as much as I did. Thanks to everyone who joined!

Smart Saver

The summer is just around the corner, so it is time to go outside and enjoy the beauties of Vancouver’s nature.

As many of you know there is a suspension bridge called the Capilano Suspension bridge. It provides you with a great view of the beautiful nature in Vancouver. It feels like you are not in the city anymore and is a stunning view as soon as the sun comes out, however this view comes with a pretty big dollar sign. It cost you around 35$ to get in the park and enjoy the beautiful view. You are probably thinking way writing about this, well just wait for it…

… so here comes the smart saver, Lynn Canyon Park. This Park is located in North Van and has a supension bridge as well and guess what it, it’s for FREE! In the park different series and movies are produced, such as Eureka or X-man: The Last stand. There is more to see at the park than only the suspension bridge. If you walk over the brigde at take the first right you can wander a small route down to the twin falls bridge where you can see two nice waterfalls. Afterwards you can hike up the steps back to the suspension bridge. If you would like to hike a little bit more, than you can go to the 30foot Pool, which has beautiful clear water.

How to get to Lynn Canyon Park. Take the sea bus from Downtown to North Van, from there you can take either bus #228 or #229. The bus will take you to Lynn Valley Center from where it is a 15minute walk to the Park main entrance.

Hope you have fun and let us know how you liked it!
