What to do on the weekend?

Now that it’s raining more than ever, know that we’ll still have each other. You can stand under my umbrella, you can stand under my umbrella (ella, ella, eh, eh, eh)…

This morning I woke up and opened my daily News feed. “The weather forecast for Metro Vancouver today is all wet — with showers beginning this morning. (…) There is also risk of a thunderstorm. It might even hail.” Oh no! Just when we thought Spring had started and more sunny days would come, this happens… But hey, we can’t let this stop us from having a fun weekend! Let’s get through this together.

The weather forecast for Saturday consists of sun, clouds and (only) a 30 per cent chance of rain. A.K.A. we can go outside! Do you like festivals, vibrant colours and think equality is important? Then I found the perfect event for you! UBC’s Indian Students Association is organizing a HOLI festival to celebrate equality! At the event everyone will wear white and be covered in all colours of the rainbow. There will also be an Indian food truck and music to dance along to. If you want to participate you can buy a ticket online for only $7!

Not really into festivals? No problem! There are multiple markets to explore during the weekend too, such as the Made on Salt Spring Market in which craftsmen from Salt Spring Island show their products to you! There will be a large range of jewellers woodworkers and food and drink producers to ensure everyone will have a great time. It is opened at the Heritage Hall from 10 till 6 on Saturday and 11 till 5 on Sunday. Costs are $5.

Sundays are meant for relaxing, which is why we are going to Granville Island! The island is the perfect place to buy fresh fruit and veggies and find unique gifts for friends and family. We will spend the afternoon strolling along the market, where we will eat some tasty food and listen to street artists.

Make sure to wear a raincoat because it might rain that day!

In case it does rain all weekend: Open Netflix, grab a blanket and some snacks and spend the day warm and cozy inside! (What better excuse to do this than bad weather is there?!)

I wish everyone a great weekend and I look forward to seeing you all!

What to do on the weekend?

This weekend, we are all wearing green! It is St. Patrick’s Day and even if Ireland is a few kilometres away, this is a huge happening in Vancouver. Here are some ideas where to celebrate, but also how to avoid the green craziness.

St. Paddy’s Day, as the Irish call it themselves, will be celebrated in several places in the city. It doesn’t matter if you’re Irish or not, it is definitely going to be fun. The INTERNeX crew is going to drink some green beers with Vancouver’s students at the UBC. This party is nearly sold 5535679756_798fe4019e_nout, so be fast if you still want to join us.

Next to that, every Irish pub in Vancouver is hosting a green party. There will be a huge one at Blarney Stone, where we celebrated the kick-off of the festival past Saturday (some of you might remember that awesome night). You can spend your entire day there, from brunch in the morning to live music at night.

Another famous location for Saturday is ‘Doolin’s Irish Pub’ at Nelson Street. You can get breakfast from 10 o’ clock on and dance to live music throughout the day and night. So, get your green clothes out of your closet or buy some cheap accessories (Dollarama or Dollartree) and celebrate like the Irish.

Or does all this seem a bit too crazy and you are not in party mood this weekend? Then I have another idea for you: take a walk and take some beautiful photos. The Cherry Blossom Festival is starting right now. You can find many Whitcomb cherries that are blooming already. To find the best spots, you can take a look at this map. Just grab your camera and put on your walking shoes, there you go!

My outfit is ready and I am really looking forward to seeing you at the UBC party tomorrow! For the rest of you, have fun celebrating St. Paddy’s or enjoying the sun outside this weekend!

How was your weekend?

Monday! Monday! Monday!….. It’s Monday again which means that the weekend is over and it is time to get down to business again. But before we do this we would like to look back on an amazing weekend. So keep on reading!

Our weekend started off on Friday during Whiskey o Clock when we watched the important hockey game Canada vs. Sweden under 19, since this was the finales of the world championship. So there we were, sitting at the office with some drinks and watching Canada luckily win the world championship.

After some drinks, we decided to go to Blarney Stone to enjoy some food and some drinks. Like always there was an amazing live band playing and we danced the night away.

26772196_1844459148928889_671891818_oThe next morning it was time to sleep in a little bit and to get ready for some fun pre-drinks at Bart’s place before heading to the party at UBC. We all had an amazing time there, but decided to leave on time to make sure that I got some sleep the next day.

So the next day, while some other people from INTERNeX were going on a hike, I decided to stay home and do some cleaning and some homebound duties. After cleaning and doing the laundry I enjoyed a nice night watching some Netflix.

We all hope you had an amazing weekend and we are looking forward to see you guys this Wednesday for our PuB NiGHT at the Beaver Bar, including some nice bingo!

What to do on the weekend?

Better days are coming. They called Saturday and Sunday. Hello weekend! No plans yet on what to do this weekend? I have got some tips for you.

There will be a UBC Halloween party tonight if you are not done with Halloween yet. If you are done with Halloween, maybe the paint competition ‘Battle of the Brush’ is something for you. There are also hockey games from the Giants and Canucks or a football game from the BC Lions for the sport lovers. The Craft Beer Festival is taking place in Coquitlam. Over 40 breweries will let you taste some of their best beers.

Saturday we will walk the Quarry Rock hike in Deep Cove. We enjoy the sunset at the end of the hike. Afterwards we will have some drinks, because Marvin will leave us after this weekend.

On Sunday we will go do the brewery tour on Granville Island. We will see how the beers are made and taste some tasters. We will meet in front of the brewery at 3:45pm. Have a nice weekend and I hope to see you somewhere this weekend!

How was your weekend?

What do Granville, Chinese Garden, Playland, Bourbon and Koerners Pub have in common? They all have a ‘N’ in the word. Yes, that’s true. But they also have another thing in common. I visited all these places this weekend. Curious what I did there? Find out in the new ‘How was your weekend?’ blog post.

22501126_10212216658803668_742330225_nFriday around four o’clock people slowly were showing up in Oktoberfest style at the office. We played some German music to get in the mood for the Oktoberfest party. When it was 6 o’clock, it was time to go for the real work and we went off to Koerners Pub at UBC to have a nice Oktoberfest. We drank beers in big cups, sang along with music and danced at the outside stage.

Saturday I woke up. Barely. I knew exactly what I was going to do this day: Nothing! Laying in bed all day watch some Netflix. But when the night arrived, I had to get changed for some more drinks. Because it was the last night for Lara, we went to the Bourbon to celebrate she leaves. Just kidding, I will miss you. We played some beer pong and pool. After all a nice night.

2017-10-16 16.50.47_previewOn Sunday morning we went to the Halloween parade. We had perfect places underneath a heater and we got ourselves some food and drinks. We not only saw scary things, but also a lot of random things. From Chinese dragons to ghost busters, we saw it all. After the parade Lucas and I went to the Chinese Gardens. We learned all about the Yin and Yang of every little detail in the garden. In the night we went to the Fright Nights at Playland. We went into the attractions and haunted houses. I thought they wouldn’t scare me, but I was wrong about that part. In the haunted houses I scared a few times. After trying a BeaverTail we went home. Also had a nice weekend? Share your story at the next PuB NiGHT.
