What to do on the weekend?

Swoooosh! And another week has passed by. But what could you do the upcoming two days? Here are some ideas for you.

Soccer fans, listen up: On Saturday, the Vancouver Whitecaps are playing again! This time, it is against the New England Revolution. It’s a home game, which means it’s taking place at BC Place (777 Pacific Blvd) in Vancouver. The game starts at 2:30pm, tickets can be purchased online or on site and are from $20 upwards. So, grab some friends, buy yourself some snacks and drinks from one of the many suppliers and enjoy the game! GO WHITECAPS!

Are you a vegetarian or even vegan? Then you should not miss out on the following event: The VEG EXPO is back in town! For the 5th year in row, you can go to the Vancouver Convention Centre and check out over 200 exhibits from vegan and vegetarian companies across Canada. They showcase vegetarian and vegan products and you can even try samples. The event takes place on Sunday from 10am until 5pm. Entrance price is $20.

Since last weekend, the Kitsilano Pool is open again. You know, the longest pool in Canada. And the only saltwater pool in Vancouver. It is a great location to spend the day at. Many restaurants and cafes are located nearby the outdoor pool. The view over the Lower-Mainland, English Bay, the North Shore Mountains and the Vancouver skyline are just wonderful. You can enjoy this on Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 8:30pm. During the week, it is open from 12pm until 8:30pm. The entrance price is between $3 and $6, depending on your age.

Have a great, exciting and fun weekend! See you on Sunday for our hike through the Lighthouse Park!

What to do on the weekend?

It’s finally Friday again! Time to do some amazing things in Vancouver this weekend!

17389183_10155108361507103_2218754490592107005_o.jpgThis weekend the INTERNeX family will go The Spring Lights Illumination in the beautiful Queen Elizabeth Park. We will enjoy the amazing lights, music, cherry blossoms and the multisensory show in the park. This event is part of a bigger festival called the Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival. There are several events in the VanDusen Botanical Garden, 6 walks through some of Vancouvers’ spring gardens and lots more.

Tomorrow is April Fool’s Day and International Pillow Fight Day, which means lots of fun!! Don’t forget to fool your friends and also do not always trust them because you can fall for one of their tricks too. International Pillow Fight Day is also celebrated in Vancouver. There will be a massive 15 minutes pillow fight outside the Vancouver Art Gallery by the corner of Robson Street and Howe at 3 PM. It will be amazing to participate or to just watch this craziness.

17690980_10208612464010029_949684745_n.jpgThis week was also the beginning of the Vancouver International Auto Show and you can still go there this weekend to see dozens of the latest cars on display. The show is from 10 AM until 10 PM at the Vancouver Convention Centre.

Sunday is supposed to be really sunny, so go out and explore the highlights of Vancouver as well! It will be the perfect day to do some hikes, sightseeing or visiting the outdoor farmers markets! I hope you all have a great weekend and see you tomorrow at the Queen Elizabeth Park or next week on PuB NiGHT!!

Smart Saver Vancouver

As most of you spent a lot of money during your stay, it might be good to save some money as well. Even though we would like to save money, we still want to do as much as possible. These Smart Savers are the perfect option for some cheap activities.

Tuesday is the time for you to do some activities in Vancouver. Remember when we told you about the discounts on Tuesday at several cinemas? There are lots of free activities on Tuesday as well. Some museums in Vancouver offer free admission on certain days. Vancouver Art Gallery, for example, offers admission by donation on Tuesdays. So if you are really into arts, this is a great opportunity for you to see some.

No time on Tuesday? Then there are still plenty of activities left for you. The GMS observatory is all year round admission by donation as well. It is a place where you can take a look at the stars through a telescope. You can find this attraction next to the Space Centre. Time to let your inner astronaut free! Another option could17091377_10208378125391710_1431619593_o also be the Burnaby Village Museum. This museum is free all year round, so there is plenty of time for you to visit it.

Besides that, the Vancouver Convention Centre offers free guided public tours throughout the year. During the guided tours they will talk about the rooftop, the wood used for the interior and the art exhibits. The place to be for interior designers, I would say. However, they only offer it at select days due to busy activities held in the Convention Centre. Check out their website for more information about their schedule for the public tours!

Lastly, you can also enjoy a day at the UBC Museum of Anthropology. Unfortunately, this museum is not free, but it is cheaper on Thursday evenings between 5 PM and 9 PM. If you liked the totem poles in Stanley Park, then you should definitely check out this museum. The exhibition entails artifacts and objects which have been created by the First Nations people. You get to know a bit more about the history of Vancouver and Canada by visiting this museum. The admission is normally $18. Save some money by going on Thursday evening with a ticket of only $10.

Welcome to the Blarney Stone

The event venue for the INTERNeX NAFSA Reception, taking place 1st of June in Vancouver!

Today INTERNeX wants to present the marvelous event venue where the incredible INTERNeX reception will take place: The Blarney Stone, in Gastown,Vancouver

The Blarney Stone is more than just an Irish Pub, it is Vancouver’s Institution for Irish Food, Atmosphere and Entertainment. It was again voted best Irish pub in Vancouver last year, the Blarney Stone offers a exceptional pub experience by day and rip roaring, feet stomping great times at night. Conveniently located in the centre of Vancouver’s historic Gastown District, and just a 10 minute walk from the convention center away, the Blarney Stone is both a local favorite and tourist destination.

This 600 square meters venue is pleasantly divided into various different areas. The Blarney Stone as a traditional Irish pub, has seating options from large wing back loungers to cozy booth snugs, to a shared spot at a big table or a seat at one of the three bars in the venue. At the INTERNeX NAFSA reception on Wednesday June first the venue will be able to accommodate up to 300 people in total on the main level as well as on the huge gallery upstairs from which people have a perfect view on the lower level and the stage.

If you want to, you can watch sports games on one of their many Plasma TV’s. Later in the evenings you can mix it up on the large dance floor. There is one thing we can already reveal for our remarkable event. One of the greatest Irish bands “Killarney” straight from the motherland will play for your entertainment.
The Blarney Stones lighting sets the mood just right and the sound system is second to none. At the INTERNeX NAFSA reception a DJ will support the band with a lot of great dancing music!
