What to do on the weekend?

And another working week has gone by!! This means we can enjoy our free time the way we want it. To help you a bit we listed down some things you can do during your weekend.

There is nothing better than going to a nice hockey game after work right? So if you would like to go to a game then tonight is your chance to see the Giants play against Kamloops at the Langley Events Centre.

On Saturday we would like to take you all with us on our amazing pub crawl which starts at 8 pm in the Cinema Public House on Granville Street. We will visit a few 18+ pubs in the beginning and later at night the pub crawl will continue as a 19+ event. Don’t forget to bring two pieces of ID.

15217796900_7b64d1385b_o.jpgAnother big event going on this weekend is The Vancouver International Film Festival. The festival will take place from September 29th until October 14th. It’s the 35th edition with 350 movies to explore. The festival takes place at different locations such as the International Village Mall, Vancity Theatre, The Rio Theatre and many more venues. For more information you can check out the website of The Vancouver International Film Festival.

If you like something more cultural on your free Sunday then you can check out the Diwali Fest which takes place at Surrey City Hall and features live music and dance performances as well as an Indian-style market from 3 until 6 pm.

I hope you all will have an amazing weekend and of course we would like to see you all tomorrow at the pub crawl!

What to do on the weekend

This time we only had a short week, because of Family Day. Even more reason to get outside, as you probably did not get that tired from this week. You don’t want to go back to your country and say that you haven’t seen everything, right?

For some of us the weekend already starts early, because we are going to Kelowna today! Kelowna is a beautiful city in British Columbia where you can do a lot of activities like hiking, skiing, snowboarding and snowtubing. However, you can also do other things if you don’t feel like being active on our mini vacation. There are several food and wine tours in Kelowna and there are a lot of opportunities for shopping.

Even though you are not joining our trip, it does not mean that you16237737_1615329781815800_1946877102_n should stay at home. Vancouver is a very lively city and there is lots to do here as well. One of the great activities held in Vancouver is Winterruption. This event is a winter arts festival that takes place on Granville Island. It already starts on Friday and will take place till the end of the weekend. During this event you can watch a lot of great performances on dance, music, film, arts and crafts. As it is on Granville Island, which is known for its public market, you also have enough choice regarding food.

There are several sports games during this weekend. On Saturday, the Vancouver Giants are playing against Red Deer at 7 pm at the Langley Events Centre. The Canucks are also playing this weekend on Sunday. They will play at Rogers Arena at 7 pm. When you are in Canada, you should definitely go to one of these games!

Are you more into movies? Vancouver got that covered too! For only $2.99 you can watch MVP: Most Valuable Primate at some Cineplex theatres. The movie already starts at 11 am, so you probably should set up the alarm. However, going to the movie for such a cheap price is normally not possible in Vancouver, so it is definitely worth the try.

Enjoy your weekend and see you today or next Wednesday on PuB NiGHT!

Review: Vancouver Giants hockey match

Last Saturday we went to watch a great hockey match at Pacific Coliseum. We met up around 6pm and walked the last way to the stadium. We went to watch Vancouver Giants against Saskatoon Blades. The Giants are the younger hockey players trying to get their breakthrough to the Vancouver Canucks and the NHL. So it wasn’t the Canucks, still it was amazing to see how big the stadium is and how many people went to watch the match. And the atmosphere was fantastic. We got some pretty good seats behind the goal not too far away from the ice rink. The match had an awesome start with lots of intensity. All of the players gave it all they got, and the match really had all the drama you could possibly imagine… plenty of goals, a fight between two players, extra time and finally a penalty shootout.

And we also got to experience the teddy bear toss. A lot of people had bought teddy bears at the stadium to support kids in need. So, after the Giants scored their first goal teddy bears came flying onto the ice rink. What a fantastic moment! Teddy bears came flying from everywhere and it seemed as if it would never stop. During the breaks we were entertained by small kids plying hockey and a lot of different competitions.

The final score was 3-2 to Vancouver Giants after a nerve-wracking penalty shootout. Thanks to you guys who joined in for this great match!

You can watch more of the pictures from this event here.
