What to do on the weekend?

The weekend is upon us, and if you still don’t know what to do the next few days, here are some suggestions. Foodies pay special attention, because this weekend you will have a few opportunities to get some amazing food.

Saturday is the NOSH Foodie Fest in the parking lot of the Capilano Mall from 11 am to 6 pm. There you will be able to find seven food trucks to satisfy your taste buds. And even better, the admission is free.

Another event to consider on Saturday might be the 60th anniversary celebration of the Vancouver Maritime Museum. The celebration will be from 10 am to 9 pm and will include live entertainment and attractions. The admission is free.

On Saturday and Sunday are the Philippine Days 2019, which are being held at Waterfront Park in North Vancouver. This outdoor festival offers loads of Filipino culture such as authentic cuisine, live performances as well as parade demonstrations. There will be over 75 food and merchandise booths at the park sharing their culture with you. The event will be on Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm and on Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm. The admission is free, but it is advised to bring cash, to pay at the booths.

You can also join us on Sunday in Queen Elizabeth Park for some Disc Golf, where we will be able to explore the Park and enjoy a nice game with friends. We will meet at Vancouver City Center Sky Train station at 12.20 pm or you can also meet us directly at the Little Mountain Disc Golf course at 1 pm. Wear comfortable clothes and bring some water. Hope to see you guys there!

On Sunday is the Italian Day 2019, where everything Italian will be celebrated. The event will be held on Commercial Drive, which will be car-free zone for that day. You will be able to find over 120 merchants, food vendors and entertainment at the event. Just to give you an idea of the size of the event: 300,000 attendees are expected. The event is from 12 to 8 pm and the admission is free.

I hope you have wonderful weekend!

What to do on the weekend

Another great weekend is coming up! This time you can look forward to a nice long and extended weekend because of the public holiday, Labor Day, on Monday, September 1st. For this reason we have some extra suggestions for activities. The extended weekend at this time of year is by many seen as their last chance to really get out and enjoy the summer. You never know when it’ll start raining.

Friday

This Friday you should of course join INTERNeX for our Pub & Club Night. It will be Alexandra’s goodbye party, so we’re looking forward to see a lot of you. We’ll start at Library Square Public House at 7pm. More information on the Pub & Club Night can be found here.

Saturday

On Saturday you might have a bit of a head ache after our great party Friday. We therefore suggest that you calmly head towards Vancouver Maritime Museum to explore the history of the swimsuit. The museum is situated in beautiful Vanier Park. Here you won’t have to do a lot of thinking. Just walk around and enjoy yourself, while discovering the development in fashionable swimsuits. More info on this exhibit, the location and opening hours can be found here

After looking at the development within the swimsuit fashion, you could go to one of the many great beaches that Vancouver has to offer (English Bay Beach, Jericho Beach, Kitsilano beach… and the list goes on). Here you can (of course still without making too great an effort) do a bit of research on fashionable swimsuits in Vancouver. Click here for more information on the various beaches that Vancouver has to offer.

Sunday

On Sunday you should have overcome your hangover, so why not do something with little more activity. Enjoy the hopefully still nice and sunny weather and visit Klahowya Village in Stanley Park. Here you can experience the aboriginal culture of British Columbia. You can also have a look at different cultural performances or pay a visit to the aboriginal market. Click here for more information on this event.

Monday

Finally you can end of the long weekend with a thrilling and exciting experience. You should of course go to Hastings Racecourse and watch a horse race! If you’re 19 of age or above you’ll also have the opportunity to place bets on the different races. And there are also indoor viewing options in case it starts raining. Click here for more information on location and racing schedule

Enjoy the long weekend!

Vancouver Maritime Museum’s Controversial Tattoo & Scrimshaw exhibit

The museum is showcasing an exhibition called TATTOOS & SCRIMSHAW: The Art of The Sailor !

The modern, western tattoo evolved from the early days of global exploration, when ancient mariners sailed to South Pacific communities and were introduced to the idea of body art. The practice of self-decoration became an artistic expression for sailors and an opportunity to create permanence in an otherwise unpredictable occupation.  Images of boats, women or items from home have morphed over the years into the tattoo artistry seen today.”

Have a great weekend, guys! Don’t mind the rain 😉

INTERNeX Canada: Free Food Samples & Almost Free Activities

Okay so as you all know, it is so expensive to eat out and do awesome things all the time in Vancouver. I mean sure it’s great  if you have a decent paying job, but for me, let’s just say it’s not that easy. So deals and discounts always seem to catch my eye, especially when it comes to food. So yesterday, I was looking around and I came across some things you can do for free and if not, almost free. Oh how convenient.

Free Food Samples at T&T Super Market

Now if you never been here, this place is like Asian food galore. Hallelujah! And the best part is…you can snack on free food! You just got to go around and find ladies with little food tables cooking away. You can sample dumplings, noodles, and a lot more. But make sure you don’t make it too obvious that you’re only there for the free samples, and don’t be too greedy either! Which means you can’t satisfy your starving belly, but hey, think of it as a little afternoon snack 😉

Vancouver Maritime Museum coupon!

Visit here to print out a coupon which offers you $2 discount on your next visit! And if that’s not a good enough, On Thursday evenings (which is today!) between 5 pm to 8 pm, it’s admission by donation.

Vancouver Art Gallery Admission by donation!

On Tuesdays after 5 pm, the admission is by donation. What better way than to spend your time looking around awesome exhibitions and intriguing art works in the Vancouver Art Gallery? Check it out here!
