Vancouver Riptide – Experience IT review

On Saturday INTERNeX went to Swangard stadium to watch an Ultimate Frisbee game. Because it was a rainy day and just after the big Rockies trip unfortunately not many people showed up, but we still had a fantastic time!

We watched the big home game opener of the Vancouver Riptide agairiptide4nst the Seattle Cascades. It was an entirely new sport for us to watch in a stadium, but after a quick explanation of some rules we were good to go. The game started rainy and slippery but the players were unstoppable. We were so amazed on how fast they ran and how quickly the game is moving.

So the purpose of Ultimate is to score in the opposing team’ s end zone to earn a point. Also a player cannot run with the disc, so once you catch it you have to stand still and throw the disc to ariptide3nother player to move it to the end zone. Once a player is standing in the opposing team’ s end zone and catches the Frisbee you get the point. Ultimate is a non-contact sport, which means once a player catches the Frisbee you can’ t just grab it out of there hands. The player actually gets a few seconds to throw the disc to another teammate.

So because of the few seconds you get to throw the disc again, the game moved very fast and lots of points where earned. Unfortunately the Vancouver Riptides didn’t win but it was a close call. We would definitely like to go again!

What to do on the weekend?

Almost weekend!! There are lots of events this weekend in Vancouver!

First of all, some of us will go to the Vancouver Riptides to watch their first Frisbee game of the year, so it will be very busy.

There are also some other events this weekend. For example, tomorrow it is Earth Day. To celebrate this day there will be a number of events around town. Screen Shot 2017-04-21 at 11.28.57 AM.pngThe two biggest ones are the Party for the Planet in Surrey and the Earth Day Parade in Vancouver. Party for the Planet is a family friendly event at the Surrey City Hall. It features environmental information booths, activities for children and lots of live entertainment. Around the second half of the afternoon there will be live music for older folks. The Earth Day Parade will start at 1 PM at the corner of Commercial Drive and Grandview Highway, after that it will go north and finishes at Grandview Park, where a small festival will take place until 5 PM.

On Sunday the Vancouver Sun Run will take place and starts at 9 AM. This is the largest 10 km race of Canada and also one of the most beautiful. It will start at the corner of Georgia and Burrard and it goes to Stanley Park, English Bay, Burrard Street Bridge, Cambie Bridge and to BC Place Stadium. The views include the mountains, ocean, beaches, skyscrapers and bridges.

I hope to see all of you this weekend!

Review: PuB NiGHT at Steamworks

A lot of you guys came to PuB NiGHT at Steamworks yesterday and it was amazing to share our stories from the Rockies trip. So thank you all for coming!

18053451_1717194874962623_795609837_o.jpgSteamworks is a really cool brewpub at Waterfront and they make a lot of beers themselves. I saw a lot of you trying them out and I’m curious how they tasted. The pub is much larger than you would think when you’re standing outside. They have a downstairs area too with different seating areas and pool tables. Definitely a place to come back to.

Everybody came in early, which was great. Some of us decided to start off with a hot chocolate and others tried some cool drinks. We spend most of our night catching up on what everybody did during their long Easter weekend and we told them what we did in the Rockies. You can read these stories on the blog.

We hope to see you at the Vancouver Riptide game!
