How was the weekend?

The INTERNeX gang visited the Festival of Lights at the VanDusen Botanical Garden on Saturday and it really was a bright, colourful evening. ๐Ÿ™‚

With over one million lights decorating the 15 acres of the Garden there was no dark spot! It was like walking through a magical winter wonderland, just the snow was missing. ๐Ÿ˜‰ There were many themed areas, like Reindeer Meadow for example, or a path filled with Candy Canes, another one with a lot of colourful lights, and as the theme song of Bridgerton was playing we walked past a garden of bright white lights sparkling like snow in the dark, so yes not only are there lots of lights, but also music to enhance the experience, mostly Holiday themed of course. ๐Ÿ™‚ They also served treats like mini doughnuts, or chocolate fondue, hot chocolate, coffee, and tea throughout the garden so you can stay warm on your walk along the lakeside and the lit up gardens. My favourite parts were the tunnels because you’re completely surrounded by lights and the Candy Canes shimmering in red and white among the trees. ๐Ÿ™‚
After taking in all the glimmer and sparkles a few of us went downtown to grab dinner before going home. It was a great relaxing evening that brought me little more into the holiday spirit. ๐Ÿ™‚

The rest of my weekend was pretty chill with inviting friends over for brunch and going for a nice Sunday stroll around West Point Grey. It’s one of my favourite areas to walk in, the Pacific Spirit Regional Park is beautiful and quiet with views over the ocean at some points along the way. If you haven’t been yet I recommend you check it out when you seek some peaceful quiet time in nature away from the city. Listening to the wind rushing through the trees and the waves of the ocean can be medicine. ๐Ÿ˜‰

How was your weekend? What did you do? Have you been to the Festival of Lights yet, or is it on your bucket list?

Can’t wait to hear all about it at Pub Night on Wednesday!

Until then, have a great week!

Cheers,

Laura ๐Ÿ™‚

What to do on the weekend?

Itโ€™s finally Friday again! Time to do some amazing things in Vancouver this weekend!

17389183_10155108361507103_2218754490592107005_o.jpgThis weekend the INTERNeX family will go The Spring Lights Illumination in the beautiful Queen Elizabeth Park. We will enjoy the amazing lights, music, cherry blossoms and the multisensory show in the park. This event is part of a bigger festival called the Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival. There are several events in the VanDusen Botanical Garden, 6 walks through some of Vancouversโ€™ spring gardens and lots more.

Tomorrow is April Foolโ€™s Day and International Pillow Fight Day, which means lots of fun!! Donโ€™t forget to fool your friends and also do not always trust them because you can fall for one of their tricks too. International Pillow Fight Day is also celebrated in Vancouver. There will be a massive 15 minutes pillow fight outside the Vancouver Art Gallery by the corner of Robson Street and Howe at 3 PM. It will be amazing to participate or to just watch this craziness.

17690980_10208612464010029_949684745_n.jpgThis week was also the beginning of the Vancouver International Auto Show and you can still go there this weekend to see dozens of the latest cars on display. The show is from 10 AM until 10 PM at the Vancouver Convention Centre.

Sunday is supposed to be really sunny, so go out and explore the highlights of Vancouver as well! It will be the perfect day to do some hikes, sightseeing or visiting the outdoor farmers markets! I hope you all have a great weekend and see you tomorrow at the Queen Elizabeth Park or next week on PuB NiGHT!!

WHAT TO DO ON THE WEEKEND?

November already comes to an end and the Christmasย season finally starts, so of course weโ€™ve also included some Christmas events worth visiting. Therefore just call it a pre-Christmas Special to slowly get into a cozy Christmas mood and next week I will let you know about more ongoing events in December.5226951453_0c5e55686f_o

This week the Vancouver Christmas Market got back on Queen Elizabeth Plaza. It started on November 21 and will run till December 24. This temporary village will once again boast โ€˜uniqueโ€™ food like German โ€˜Glรผhweinโ€™, โ€˜Spรคtzleโ€™, โ€˜Bratwurstโ€™, handmade toys and different kinds of treats from over 50 vendors. All the Germans here who missย going to aย Christmas Market with their friends the time before Christmas: Iโ€™m pretty sure by going to that one here in Vancouver, even though itโ€™s not the same and pretty tiny compared to the ones in Germany, itโ€™ll might let you feel like you would be in Germany. At least a little bit!
Furthermore the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park is transformed into a world of festive lights. In that park you are able to see the worldโ€™s tallest living Christmas tree (153 feet tall). Besides that they have alsoย some events going on, for instance you can experience the voice-activated light show, you can go on a scavenger hunt throughout the park, you can take photos at the Winter Pavilion and even more stuff. I can easily imagine how gorgeous the canyon must look like with all the lights on!

VanDusen Garden is celebrating the Festival of Lights where you can stroll with friends through the botanical garden. Certainly itโ€™s not just walking through the garden but they also have some specials like for example you can take pictures with Santa, try different holiday treats, enjoy Dancing Lights shows and delight in much more.

You will definitely not get bored at those events!

Since one of our candidates is hosting another (probably legendary) house party on Saturday night I hope no one is having a bad hangover on Sunday so that we are able to goย to the Capilano Bridge on Sunday, November 29. If you want to join us we will take the shuttle bus at 2:00ย pm at Canada Place, which is additional insert to take the visitors directly to the park.

Wish you all a lovely weekend!
