Review: Richmond International Night Market

Friday last week we went to the Richmond International night Market. Quite a few met up for this special night market. However, we quickly realized that we definitely weren’t the only group of people who had the idea of visiting the market. Lots of people were visiting the market, and the line for the entrance was overwhelming. The long line wasn’t a problem though, as you could spend your time taking pictures while waiting. However, some people didn’t have the patience to stand in line, so they bought a VIP entrance card for 20$ instead of the ordinary 2.25$. This was great fun to us because it seemed a bit desperate. On the other hand, probably all of got just a little tired of listening to the jingle that was playing over and over again while we were waiting in line.

As we entered the market it was clear that not only food but all kinds of other stuff that “you just can’t live without” was being sold. Everything from mobile covers to special microfiber mops was sold. For sure this market isn’t your ordinary type of food market. Some of us tried out exotic dishes, while others were more into the various l kinds of candy on offer. For instance you could get strawberries covered in chocolate. Besides the numerous stalls, a massive inflated yellow duck next to the entrance made this market a bit out of the ordinary.

What to do on the weekend?

Yesss… it’s weekend again! The weather forecast looks superb, so let’s have a look at what Vancouver has to to offer this weekend.

Night Market Richmond
How about starting the weekend with our own INTERNeX event to the Richmond Market. We will meet at the market at 7.30pm. At the market you can find about almost everything, mini golf, retail vendors and food vendors. Click here for more information.

Columbia strEAT Food Truck Fest
Vancouver loves their food truck festival, so also this weekend they planned another Truck fest for you. The fest has over 50 food trucks, a mini farmers market and the best is it is for FREE. It starts at 4pm and goes till 10pm and it is from 6th to elliot str.

Discover Thailand Festival
Interesting in other cultures and want to have fun day out, than the Thailand festival is perfect for you. The festival includes dance performance, cooking demonstrations, games and fun! The festival is held at the Vancouver Art Gallery.

 

Pet-a-palooza
We know that vancouverites are crazy about pets, but to have a festival for pets it’s over the top! However it sounds like furry fun. The festival includes over 50 vendors, selling pet product, pet accessories and the hilight of the festival is the Running of the Bulls. This fun can be visited for FREE at the coopers park in Yaletown from 10am to 4pm.

What to do on the weekend?

This weekend is going to be a warm one. So we listed some of the activities that are going on in Vancouver. Of course we also have a INTERNeX activity planned on Saturday, a picnic at the beach in Kits.

Richmond Night Market
On Friday the night market in richmond will take place. The market is open from 7pm till midnight at is located next to the River Rock Casino Resort in Richmond. It is the biggest market here in Vancouver and this year it is themed as Candyland. There is a $2 admission to get in, but once inside there are over 125 vendors and food stalls! Shipyards Night Market
Another great night market is located in North Vancouver at the Shipyards Plaza (15 Wallace Mews) from 5pm till 10pm. There are over 15 food trucks, live music and a beer garden with locally brewed beer. This market is every friday night through September 26. Click here for more information.

European Festival
On Saturday the 17th European Festival will be held at the Swangard Stadium in Burnaby. The tickets are between $15 – $20. The festival shows music performances and some vendors from Europe. There is also a beer garden. The festival goes through June 1, see here more information.

Smart Saver Vancouver

This week’s Smart Saver acts as a fun thing to do on the weekend as well as a way to get really cheap knickknacks, antiques, electronics, food and pretty much anything under the sun!

You can find all of this at the Vancouver Flea Market, where you can head out on the weekend and take a stroll around the grounds, browsing through vendor tables and maybe even do a little bartering!  Flea Markets are a great way to get slightly used items for excellent prices.  The weather is supposed to be try this weekend, so why not head out the market, they might just have that special something you’ve been looking for.

Hours: Saturdays & Sundays 9-5, Holidays 10-4
